When I was a kid, people did stuff like that in regular pick-up trucks and jeeps. Go to work in them during the week, go 4-wheeling on the weekend.
People shouldn't take it so literal when you say "don't tell Mom." In fact tell your wife or significant other. Invite them to try the activity...they just might really enjoy it. It's how I got my wife into firearm's. While dating, she was so scared of guns. I taught her proper safety and handlings. Then to the range....she was hooked from there. Now, my wife has the same affliction and addiction for firearm's, as I do. An activity we enjoy doing together.
My wife of 28 years likes and shoots guns but this spring when everything was closed up I ask her to go shoot sporting clays with me just to be together, was her first time for sporting clays, she shot my Browning Citori a few times but to much gun for her and guess what she came home and next day ordered a 20 gauge youth model and loves sporting clays now!!
You should wear a helmet when using a side by side in extreme conditions. I've seen too many head injuries and deaths from accidents in the woods (I'm a M.D.). Which could've been easily prevented with the proper protective measures. Would suggest eye protection too.
I totally agree. I was on edge watching the mud fly. When he took the kids. I was honestly thinking. They would get mud with the little rocks. In their eyes. And I've seen ATV layed on it's side. And the person could have literally banged their head. By all means have fun. Just take safety precautions.

I was a medical transcriptionist for over 20 years at a large hospital. I don’t know what that vehicle is called, but I cannot tell you how many times I saw children hurt badly on ATVs. When I would start a report and hear that the child had been on an ATV, I would immediately email another transcription to start praying with me. We saw so many horrible things. Right before I left I typed a surgery on a child that was his 10th surgery since the atv accident. You are a great family. Please stay safe.

Love to see your family become part of the ATV family ! Its a blast, and I'm sure you'd be involving it more and more into your weekly FUN time. I rode motorcycle trail riding for the better part of my life but due to age (and healing time) went to a Polaris Razor (2 seater). Wife and I have a blast ! One thing I strongly suggest is Helmets, and Goggles ! And you don't have to buy a new one , plenty of good used ones out there for sale. Have fun, Be Safe.

My brother built a huge rock climber in his very early teens... He was driving it up walls and trees before he was even 16 years old... Fun fun stuff to be on the trails with him and that rig...you don't have to tear it up to have fun..the risk of damage is there but not a guarantee. Hope you can find something to have some fun with it.... Stay safe and be well.

Nothing wrong with playing every once in awhile, Brother! We have our 19 Ranger Crew 1000XP. We use it to haul hay, wood, go see neighbors/friends, plow snow, etc. I added portal axles and have 2 sets of tires. 1 for work & dirt and the other for mud. Can't beat it, Man!

II have watched your channel for years and this was the FIRST time I have ever watched DJ truly have fun. DJ often talks about her love of Pensacola Beach but I have never actually watched her personally having fun at the beach. This time I watched something that was truly enjoyable to DJ. Thank you.
Reminds me of the Snowmobiles in Minnesota. My Dad had some great ones. All that the kids did was go out and break them up. All Dad did was repair them for us again. That was one of the reasons I didn't get snowmobiles for my 5 sons. Kids would take them to school also. Then snowmobiles got a lot faster and the youth death started to rise. So no the cost, repair, and injury and death count helped make the decision not to invest in snowmobiles for teenagers.
Some of them have been used by absolute degenerates to run down deer, also. I'm from Wisconsin, and ATVs have taken over the state. There have been a LOT of young people killed and injured by those.
DJ let him get a big UTV. Fun on the farm, weekends, trips to Idaho. 😀We have places all over up here to go. Would be a good excuse to go see the US and get off onto back trails that you would never get to see otherwise.

I have not been in atv riding or other such things but my Dad, brother, and daughters family hay 4 wheelers and love it. My dad uses his the most when he is deer hunting. It does look like fun. I know my husband would love it. God bless you all

Just think about the life skills the kids will learn by straightening panels and tearing down engines etc. How can DJ say no to that :) . I use to ride dirt bikes and half fun was fixing them just so you could go out and do it all again

We have a Kawasaki teryx, we love it! We live in Utah and our family LOVES to camp and trail ride. It’s such a great time spent with our kids, my parents and siblings. We even load up and drive to another state to go enjoy new terrain and scenery! You won’t regret it!

Enjoyed the laugh that DJ provided for us all. When I was younger we use to go out in out pickups and jeeps and dirt bikes to climb those hills. Remember getting caught on a pine sapling and having to be winched out of that steep ditch.

That looks like so much fun! I used to clear my throat before my husband would hit something, until he got on to me. He drove over boulder and our pickup carried that dent for the rest of it's life. And yes, he was made that I didn't warn him!!! We have been in some pretty hairy situations in our 4x4 and after it was over we loved every minute of it! Have fun and be safe!

Daniel, we just happened to take delivery on a our Massimo X-F3 1000, 85 hp, fully enclosed with
ac/heat! Since we had to sell our 5th wheel, my husband saw this and fell in love with it, it’s not made to do what Richie did but good for trails & hills (no rock climbing).Husband is planning on making it street legal, all he has to do is get a different set of tires. He will really enjoy this!
What the heck, live life. My husband and I used to own an old army Jeep and our friend did too. We had sooo much fun.

I grew up out in the desert of Arizona and wouldn’t have changed anything. Just being able to make your own road where there isn’t one is great. I can go back and look out at some of the hills around were I grew up and can tell my kids that road that you see me and your grandpa made that road. It’s great I hope you do get one and spend some time out with the family they will love it for years to come. Stay safe and god bless
