You, sir, are solid gold. Thank you very much for ALL the videos you've made. I've just found your videos and have already learned a LOT! I enjoy repairing and modifying chainsaws here in the U.S. and have a lot to learn, but your joyful demeanor and the clarity with which you think and communicate make it very easy to learn from you. Again, thank you for sharing your skills, tips, knowledge, and efforts with us.
If you’re just cleaning the metal parts, absolutely! It’s a fantastic cleaner. It would likely be fine on the seals too, even though it’s petroleum based, but I choose caution as I’ve seen what they do to o-rings and other natural parts. Hopefully someone will chime in and say if the black seals are nitrile or not.
Hey, don’t force it or it will snap, take pictures of both sides so you know how it goes back together, then remove the screw, selector lever and push out the plastic piece. Give it some oil with silicone oil and re-assemble.
@@VintageEngineRepairs It's like new because I have only used it once before yesterday, but the warranty is gone since I have had it for over a year. I did take it apart and everything looks new. I re-lubed all of the O-rings and still no pressure. I guess I will have to call them on Monday and see what they say.
@@VintageEngineRepairs pulled mine out for the first time in 3 years. Upon use nasty brown sh!t started appearing everywhere. Your video and 10 minutes, it's good to go. Thanks Again
@@VintageEngineRepairs Tom, you got a great channel. I have learned very much, especially about 2 strokes, 2 stroke carbs and troubleshooting those pesky 2 strokes. And the tools and techniques that go with all that. I have a very old LawnBoy I got as a toss in at auction. I have been ignoring it for 3 years. But I am going to try to apply my new knowledge to see if I can make it live again. Even attempting it would never have a consideration, except for your encouragement and teaching. Thank you.

You’re very welcome! I’m so pleased you enjoy my content! Thanks for the kind words, it’s much appreciated :)
Great information. You can find small tube of silicone grease where they sell plumbing products. Thanks and take care.
Spot on Steve! You’re absolutely right mate :)
Frikkin top quality pro content as usual. Master craftsman . Excellent videos, sound & picture quality. Respect
Thanks so much once again! I’m pleased you enjoy my content :)
You look after your tools they will last for ever, great video Tom 👍
Thank you Nev! :)
I bought one of these on your recommendation And I love it.
Awesome :) good to hear!
Might I recommend replacing the split pin with a solid one . (Split pin is abrasive )
Absolutely, any metal pin that will fit will be just fine. The reason I open the pin up is to stop it rotating round and scratching.
My Harley and my MityVac both get dot 5 brake fluid. Great video!
Ahh silicone :) good work!
Good vid Tom, I've had mine for years, so far so good!
Great stuff ken, they’re a great tool !
Small note for others - my rebuild kit came with a small, brass schrader valve tool. Helpful if you don't already have one
Nice! Mine didn’t LOL
I was thinking fella. Would using a plastic saring give you a cheaper and easier unit without ever dialing with this scenario ???
Sorry mate I don’t know what a saring is?
Is WD ok for a cleaner?

Where can i buy parts for this tool from?
Directly from Mityvac’s own website :)
Hi mine selector switch is stuck in vacuum I can’t twist it do you know how I can fix that please?

Why would my MV 8500 hold vacuum but not pressure?
Hmmm I can’t say off the top of my head. I’d send it back if it’s new. If it’s past warranty, take it apart - probably a worn seal :)

I don't think you need gloves for this
You do if you don’t want to be covered in oil!
Mityvac pumps suck
I disagree, but I’m curious as to why you think what you do?
@@VintageEngineRepairs they work great, right? So they suck. And they blow.
I’m of half Irish and half German descent. Which side do you think I get my sense of humor from?
@@haneyoakie14 oh 🤣 just for future notice, I have an incredible ability at not understanding jokes, it’s one thing I’m known for LOL

Just bought a new one, did a test and it leaks down slowly, brand new. Kinda bummed 🫤. Thanks for the video, seems I have to take it apart already.
Hmm very strange, send it back.
Same happened to me..
