The Quark is IP 66 Waterproof which means it is waterproof but shouldn't be submerged for a long period of time. So this setup is geared to more advanced riders but with that said Noir Matter Offers a 1-year warranty on all of their products. Jake Kelsick you forgot to mention that according to manufacturer is shouldn’t be used in salt water. You will void your warranty. Also battery is not serviceable which makes device go to garbage after battery life is over.
IP66 stands for ingress protection which is dust proof and some measure of water being sprayed at it. So the Quark is not water proof at all, water proof enclosure by IP rating would be IP67 or higher. IP67 is good for submersion up to 1 meter deep and IP68 is good for deeper then 1 meter. Quarks website has false advertising in terms of its IP rating.
i would say anyone thinking about purchasing it as long as youre not dipping it in the water it should be good to go, i would be a bit concerned though if it was on the line mount and your kite went down for any length of time especially since it would most likely drop due to weight.

Noir Matter I’m glad to hear that. You should put that in writing on your web site. That is very important info. It would be even better if you have incorporated some kind of removable battery like GoPro have. It will make it even better then it is. I have used your product few times and results are amazing. It really makes huge difference while kiting.

I would concern of weight of gopro and gimbal on lines. If mounted it would tangle into lines and disable safety release option.
Having a line mount on definitely can up the chances of getting tangled but one side still slides on the mount so your safety should always work.
Good comment, the kite mount has one side sliding to allow the safety line to slide thru but you are right it's still really dangerous to kite with something mounted on the line as it could tangle and disable you to relaunch your kite so we highly recommend the use it only if you are an experience rider!

I am concerned about the lines getting tangled when you front stall your kite after a crash. U might end up deadlooping. So you have to be very careful and only use it in safe conditions... I still bought one, but I think you should talk more about the dangers. It's not a safe system.
So I assume the safety line cannot flag out when this mount is sitting on the lines?

Nice feature, but not being designed to be dropped into water makes it not "fit for purpose" for a dummy kitesurfer like me...you may be able to comeback to the beach with a dry kite, that's not my case at least. Thanks for sharing the tip anyway, I will wait for IP67 prior spending such money...

Just wondered how safe the line mount is as it will affect the QR safety system on you kite ?
It is important to inform that Quark Noir Matter Stabilizer is not waterproof enough to get in water and should not be sold for kitesurfing. As Noir Matter wrote to me: "Quark as it's not made to be submerged in the water and might not work" It is quite difficult to prevent it from getting into water when kitesurfing :-(
Jake, what about mounting the gopro 360 to the quark Linemount. Redundant?

I have used Hero7 Black w Hypersmooth with kiteline mount without this "noir matter" thing and the result is way smoother. Any reason why you used standard stabilization not Hypersmooth with this?
Nice one dude! I think I'll make a video on this topic soon. The Hypersmooth is amazing on the new GoPro but you can't shoot in 120fps with hypersmooth which is where the Quark could come in handy. But what a time to be alive for cameras and tech. There are so many more ways to capture awesome shots these days! Thanks for the feedback bredda!

It's 2 different things, while the IS of the GoPro takes care of small vibrations and smooth out the video, the Quark keeps it always straight which a GoPro cannot do and is especially good while kitesurfing as the lines of your kite are always rotating 💯

Thanks Jake for the review. Just out of curiosity, have you tried a chesty to see what view would be like? I guess you would be pointing toward the water which may not be great but it would be the same as having a mouth piece mount.
yeah, the chesty can be cool but super hard to keep the lens clean while kiting and it's locked into the chesty so not really as versatile as the mouth mount for getting other shots and angles.
@@JakeKelsick yeah that makes total sense. Trying to get the screw out of the chesty takes some work and something you dont want to do while kiting. I have been really trying to figure out what the best vantage point is for the gopro and haven't quite figured it out yet. The line mount sounds good but that added weight and submerging if you put your kite down doesnt sound great. Thanks for the info.
I would've thought that the Hero 7's new in-built stabilization would render this gimbal obsolete! Is that not the case?
I thought so too when I first heard around the new hero 7 but the thing is you can't shoot at 120fps with hyper smooth on only does up to 60fps also doesn't keep the horizon straight if flipped upside down so the Quark is still good for slowmo and kite loops etc.
Yes correct, the Quark keeps the camera always leveled while the GoPro stabilize small vibrations so the pair is the perfect setup

Thank for your response🤙🤙🤙 Ich just saw an other vlog where the person shows your really cool mount and the extra equipment he bought for example the linemount and there comes the problem... He dropped his kite and the stearinglines gone into the teeth of the mount... the kite began to loop until one of the tooth broke and the one line was free again... imagine if one of the stearingline would be around the cam which is very realistic because it is quite open and you cant connect a gopro with a floater🙄🙄🙄 to the mount... meaning you lost your Gopro and the mount is damage.... I still think your mount is a real cool gadget combined with the cam... but on that point you have to make some changes☺️☺️☺️
Thanks for your comment, There is actually a leash provided so in case of the mount braking you don't lose your camera and stabilizer. But yes you are right kitesurfing with a mount into your line is dangerous and you should only be a really experience kiter to be using a camera into your line, this is not for beginners. Hope this help.

Noir Matter I am an experienced rider but even very experience riders as well drop there kites or their lines get tangled... experience only means, the more you have, the smaller gets the the calculated risk..... But as you said having a mount in the lines are only for riders with experience, that you should aware buyers about the risk or your resposibility to change the mount that lines wont get tangled.... because actually you want to sell your produkt to everybody and not only to experience riders...
Hey i do Windsurfing Videos and maybe this can help me aswell. I need something to fix on the Mast and can be rotated, because i switch the Sail on the jibes. I use a GoPro Strap Hand Wrist to fix on the Mast at the moment but iam not that happy with it. Hmmm :) Thanks alot for the good footage. Greetings from germany

I am an experienced advance rider and like any other advanced rider pro or whatever, you know you still be dropping your kite on the water for a few seconds unless you are just cruising. So my question is Noir Mater will give you warranty or not?
I'd say contact Noir Matter about this before buying one. It's a cool product but would be cool if it had a higher IP rating. I dipped mine while shooting this and it was okay but I have only used it a handful of times.

I know 4 of them who leaking, start making them waterproof! Everyone uses them in the right way as described on the box..
First thank you so much for the videos, they are awesome. Quick question, I'm using the Duotone and the Trust Bar and the Y connection in the lines is a little high ... do you think this could be a problem for the mount of the gopro?!

Robby hello Robby, yes you will only be able to attached it after the Y, which will give a nice wide view 👌
I am considering buying it but have the same problem, the Y in the duotone trust bar is very high and attaching it before will obstruct the safety release. Did you got the mount at the end?

How does it go with 5 line kites?
Could get tricky! Might be okay just have to watch out for the GoPro getting caught on the 5th line.
I have bought this expensive piece of garbage, it keeps shaking and produces disastrous footage, and worst of all the company will not respond to your emails, they asked for a video showing how I had mounted my stabilizer then ghosted me.

haha made a big editing mistake with this one. Never use the same transition so many times. Even after so many videos still got a lot to remember and learn!
