Sucks that you can’t see the deleted messages only. Sometimes only a handful of messages are deleted in different parts of a conversation, so it would be convenient to see just the deleted ones rather than throwing them back into the existing conversation without seeing what was deleted in the first place.
If you’re using this for the same reason that i am… they’re cheating. Dont even look itll make it worse. Try to talk to them about it, say you saw the deleted messages and this is their opportunity to own up and leave it at that. Your next move is on you. Ive been through it too many times believe me its better not knowing. It haunts me to this day. 8 years for that specific situation and many more from other recent relationships. Dont look.

It’ll be better to keep those all clickable things at the bottom, just like you redesigned the lock screen notifications in iOS 16. Please develop these to let the users don’t have to reach to the top of the screen every time. For example, imagine if you get a call pop-up on the top of your screen, it’s not easily accessible with one hand while holding the phone firmly. We’ll be happy to help. The bottom of the article states that in order to recover deleted messages, “You need iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later to recover deleted messages and conversations. You can only recover messages and conversations that you deleted within the last 30 to 40 days.” If you still find that you should still be able to recover deleted messages and are unable to, reach out to Apple Support for further help: apple.co/GetSupport

I just updated to IOS 16.1.2 and I’m trying to recover deleted conversation and messages from someone and I don’t see the Edit option in the top left, it just shows filters for all my messages
We’ll be happy to help today with Messages so you can retrieve the deleted messages. When you open Messages, do you see Filters? If so, tap Filters and you should see the option for Recently deleted. s.apple.com/dw4b7o6Gc4

That is correct. You will not be able to recover messages that were deleted prior to updating to iOS 16.

How do you retrieve a message that was typed but not sent
My iPhone don’t have the deleted messages option, why is that?

Deleted Messages only shows up with iOS 16, and iPadOS 16.1: s.apple.com/dw0O9p1iT7
Deleted messages will only show if you deleted a message. If you deleted them from Recently Deleted also, then they are gone and that folder may not show if no other messages are there.
