Ari my absolute pleasure!!! I really wish your book was around two years ago when I came around witchcraft but I'm still so grateful and learnt so much from it now!!! All my love to you 🙏🏽❤️🫂
You mentioning that you haven't finished Psychic Witch in two years made me feel so seen. While I don't have dyslexia, I have a lot of struggle reading with ADHD. I also take months and years just to finish books of any genre of any topic, if I don't lose interest and switch books... I worry about being too behind everyone else, but I look up to you and I'm glad it's not solely consuming like 10 books per second that lets you grow. I hadn't heard of these books, I absolutely look forward to reading them (Someday, lmao 😭)
@@PupilOfBast I'm so glad that "a problem shared it's a problem halved" 😅 I always had the same feeling growing up. Everyone with a good vocabulary and clever insights always said they read a lot and I was like "I'm f**ked". The weird thing is that I also don't work well with audio only, so as much as I appreciate podcasts I have a hard time with audio books, and video stuff has become my easiest way to learn, somehow I need the graphic connection to information to retain information (and subtitles on, I can't hear without my subtitles!!!). I think it's the main reason why I wanted to bring video essays here like capitalism and cottagecore, because I know it took me sooooo loooooong to understand those things, and I have to explain it in short simple terms to get it stuck in my head and hopefully it will help someone else getting the info in as well 😅
@@activistwitch I have the same problem with podcasts and audiobooks!! I can put on TH-cam videos just fine because I can at least glance at the video if I need clarity (Pictures, mouth movement) but when it comes to podcasts I just lose focus a lot Putting those essays in video format does help so much, I'm glad you decided to try that angle
Well in case it would help the algorithm, I purchased the book based on this review. While I’m an old bruja I believe part of the circle is learning from both saplings and old ceibas. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. Honestly, you had me at extensive bibliography.
Thank-you Ysha so much for sharing another potent video. I greatly appreciate you using Ariana's quoting from many magical books that innately help neutralize cultural appropriation and white supremacy. You always have so much to share and give so much good "food" for the mind, body, and soul. I also greatly appreciate you bringing such good books to our attention, many blessing to you! )O(
Awww thank you so much, it means the world to know bringing my intersectionality take on the world, even if witchcraft, it's appreciated 🙏🏽❤️ I still have a lot of COVID brain fog so I wish I had done better justice to Ari's book but in glad enough came through! It's such an amazing book!
@@activistwitch Oh honey, you did an AMAZING job expressing yourself in the video. I'm sending you my best in healing energy and please take good care of yourself during this time. Please nurture yourself and get as much rest as you need. You are soooooo PRESCIOUS and mystical of and beyond your craft 💖
Just discovered your channel today, and then watched this. I've been following a pagan path for about 25 years, but very solitary and eclectically (I'm the opposite to you...grew up in UK and then moved to Italy 23 years ago...so here in the land of catholicism, there aren't many other pagans around). I tend to focus more on meditation, mindful crafting and celebrations around the wheel of the year than spells though. My first introduction to paganism was a wiccan ceremony which I found very uncomfortable, and it put me off the ceremony and magic. But your enthusiastic review has inspired me to dip my toe back into the witchier side of paganism. :)
I'm glad to hear I could bring something new for you to explore! Ari's book is truly a little gem and it cannot be overstated. All my support for being a pagan in the country that hosts THE VATICAN 🫂
it's so nice to hear someone else in this community is dyslexic like me TAT I too have not finished the psykic witch lol I think I bought the audiobook because with these non fiction books the information doesn't really enter my brain unless I can read and listen at the same time and buying both gets so expensive T_T thank you for this review it sounds so interesting I definirtelly want to check it out!
@@activistwitch there are some with subtitles?? omg I have to look into that! I just had a thought about how in the absence of all except a phisical book maybe reading outloud to ourselves would work in a similar manner 😂 like yeah it will still take me 6 months to a year for one book but maybe I would not have to read 5 times the same line lol
@@arurora5474 gosh that's be awesome. I disassociate so hard when reading because I have to focus so much on sounding like I make sense that I lose sense of the words I am reading personally 😅
@@activistwitch sounding like you make sense as in making sense to another person? if so I think I struggle with the same thing lol I read like a child outloud but I was imagining like alone in a room where my voice could be as wrong as however it comes out. Why is Skye Alexander problematic? I've seen a book or two of her's local to me but never picked them up. Ps, im so happy to hear im not the only dyslexic witch who struggles with physical books!
Gosh I feel I should make an entire video just on her books and all the issues I have with her but on a very practical witchy level the issue is she repeats hearsay without understanding the context they come from. The worst experience I had with her teachings was how she gives information about casting a circle and calling the quarters and then adds "a short version" of calling the quarters that is just "calling the angels". What she has actually done was taking out of context a bit from the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, but without the actual ritual, that part does not call the angels to protect the quarters at all, but at the time hers was the only book I had so I did that. And we had to end our spell earlier and cleanse the entire house for days because we were I protected and got a problematic visitor because of that.
I am a beginner witch but I’m also interested in Italian folk tradition- any tips? I am trans and the Catholicism can be very triggering to me and some of the patriarchical views I grew up with…any suggestions are appreciated! I’m going to Sicily in a few days!
@@pizzabonanza5399 Ari's book is definitely a great start because it keeps an intersectional lens over witchcraft. Mary Grace Fahrun's book "Italian folk magic" is the most accurate book in English that talks about actual Italian traditions (not second generation in America) but it talks of saints and such so if you need to work through religious trauma first it might be worth waiting to get around that, though Mary Grace makes a point repeatedly she's not Catholic but just working with her traditions.

I love her channel! She was one of the first channels I found when I became a witch a few years ago. I would love to read this someday.
She is so no-nonsense and to the point!
Couldn’t agree more with your review, what a fabulous new release!
