@@pbsuite Nah, not really. The protagonist is the character whose eyes the story is being told through. The main character is the one the story is actually about; the main mover of the narrative. The protagonist can be a witness to the main character. Unfortunately for us readers, Gege didn't fully understand this, and so he wrapped up the story with the protagonist being the hero instead of his own main character. The main character is *frequently* the protagonist as a matter of traditional form, but it's not an absolute rule - or even the best option in some cases. I'll give you an example of what I'm describing. Infinity War has Thanos as the main character, however, the story is told through the eyes of the heroes against him. The writers did what's called _head hopping,_ a form of boomerang storytelling, to give us the perspectives of multiple characters facing Thanos. But the story is actually *about* Thanos. @@pbsuite In my personal opinion, Yuji is the protagonist and Yuta is the main character - as we've seen so far. For the overall plan, Gege probably intended for Yuji to be the main character in the end. So, I'm wagering a guess as an experienced writer here. Take it with a grain of salt. This is only meant to serve as insight into the writing technique. I say this because the prequel was about Yuta, and then Yuji was set on a course to meet Yuta. Because Yuta was off taking care of some important business, Yuji didn't know much about him or his abilities until he returned. So, we continued seeing things through Yuji's eyes up until that point, then we got the Yuta show with Yuji as a witness. He has his main character moments, looks awesome, yadda, yadda, yadda. Duly, a strong argument can be made for Megumi having assumed the role as the main character in this branch of the story, after Yuta, as he could also be seen as the central figure of this arc. The plot moved around him being preferred and inhabited by Sukuna, then the series ended with him needing to be rescued. Interestingly, his immense potential was noted and he was a key piece on the Chess board; like Bleach's _Special War Powers._ His natural abilities gave Sukuna more avenues to use his already world shaking power. Unfortunately, Gege didn't give us much of a resolution for this, so we're left speculating. For all I know, you could feel that Sukuna was the main character, and you would be justified in that belief if the possibility rings true. It did conclude with Sukuna being at a crossroads and having an opportunity to learn from his mistakes from the inciting incident, which happened way back in the Heian Era.
@JimmyCrackorn okay I've done a little research to see the difference btn MC and protagonist. And I've come to one conclusion. Your right yuji is the MC . Not the protagonist. Yuji is the main character of jjk. The story is told through his POV. He is the closest to the audience. Basically the story is about him. He is just a narrative tool And protagonist are characters who drive the plot. Jjk has alot of characters who drive the plot in some way so it has many protagonist and alot of side characters fall in this category.gojo , yuta , maki , hakari megumi etc. And antagonist are the characters which the MC and protagonist face challenge from. Kenjaku and sukuna are these characters In most stories. MCs are also protagonist but in some stories. It's best to split the roles like jjk.you say gege didn't know the difference but he clearly does like I've described Having yuji just be the eyes of the audience is perfect for telling the story of Jujutsu kaisen. That's why I don't understand why people say yuji is a bad MC, he doesn't affect the plot but that's by design. He literally embodies the themes of jjk to a teeth. Themes about perseverance and humanity is what jjk is about
Last time I saw, Geges net worth is 10-12 Million...Gege lost passion for jjk years ago, but folded for the checks. Smh, can't blame him/her for the checks, but this is a big middle finger to the fans that is keeping up with the series, never explained nothing from kenjaku past, yujis parents, gojo clan, sukuna past, heian era, etc soooo much more. The epilogue made it even worse by skipping over the major plots, and honed in on the minimum ones lol. Jjk really turned into a joke, and whats sad is this series had the potential to be so much more, but Gege didn't care, let's be honest here, got the money and left
@James-bs8bd Both unfortunately true, with the success of the manga being # 1 in sales during the time, successful movie, merch etc geges networth was reported by comicbook resources. And gege stated years ago in an interview he lost interest in jjk, actually wanted to end it with yujis death, but Shonen of convinced him otherwise 💰 this is a lesson learned tho, if a mangaka loses interest in there work, you should to..
@@tajwalker5493 I remember him saying he wanted to finish it by the year 2023 or something like that. But it got pushed back further. I thought that was because he wanted a more concise ending though.
@James-bs8bd He did say the that back in 2023, but I'm talking what he stated before jujutsu kaisen, when it was a stand alone "Tokyo Metropolitan curse technical" jjk came about after through shonen, gege said he was gonna kill yuji during the fight with megumi and end it there, but was convinced to continue.
To me, the only exciting epilog was sukuna's part, For Me, the rest of this just felt like unnecessary filler that didn't know what direction it wanted to go into.😅 But hey, hopefully we get jujutsu kaisen Shippuden, And this time Maybe sukuna can be the main character I don't know how will it happen? But I hope I will.😏👌🔥
2:11 I believe Yuji didn't heal his injuries as a reminder of the sacrfices and things he's gone through. I know I would've completed healed with a broken RCT like his😂
RCT has limits based on the sorcerer's skill with the technique and cursed energy reserves. For example, Gojo could regenerate his limbs with ease because of how efficiently he was able to utilize CE due to the six eyes but Yuji was unable to do so during the Shinjuku showdown and had to rely on both blood manipulation and RCT to reattach his severed leg instead of outright growing a new one, most likely because he'd only known about curses and CE for 6 months.
@@scrbroadcast Yuji can use replenish blood with cursed energy alone he only needs RCT for the flesh. The cleave he took most likely took out his pancreas, he could supplant it's function with blood manipulation. I don't think he did that, he probably wasn't even smart enough to know what the pancreas does but right after Sukuna took that chunk out of him he got preoccupied with Higaruma and most likely assumed he killed Yuji but for whatever the reason Yuji had time to stop and focus on regeneration.

Gege can't finish. This was a totally garbage ending that flat ruined the series. More time should've been invested into the narrative instead of bringing it to a sudden close like that. The events never should've been accelerated and, if it was necessary, then there should've been a game plan after that. All signs pointed to the final battle not actually being the final battle, and then Gege just wrapped it up there with all of that other stuff left out. As many chapters as that fight lasted, there was plenty of time to reassess the momentum of the story and make plans to correct course. Major plot points are supposed to be resolved prior to the official ending of a complete story. Gege left many. People telling people who wanted that they're just whining is gas lighting.
I wonder how many times hes gonna rewrite the ending. Just fkn write jjk 2 that ending was fkn trash and no amount of video essays are gonna change that
Everyone says “this ending sucks” for any/whatever anime. Then couples years later and the same people go “it was actually pretty good”. For the new people, this is typical shonen/manga industry. A lot of series are not gonna be what you want so best advice is to accept and hope the author makes something “better”. The industry doesn’t give room for artist to fully express their image. Ex: MAPPA
Community sounds like a bunch of toxic haters. It’s fine to dislike something. But if you don’t then why make a video about how it’s the worst flop in manga. I mean I didn’t like the ending but show some respect. And as I said if u hate it so much and don’t care why are you watching a video to hate bate in the echo chamber? Unsubscribed also. This channel doesn’t seem to understand nuances in story telling and misses things and uses click bait with 15 min sponsor plugs on the reg and seems to want’s everything spelled out for him so he doesn’t have to use much brain power.
They dislike it because they didn't get what they wanted " muh sukuna flashbacks" like we didn't get his entire character explained throughout the series, there are comments asking why kenjaku even had Yuji even though we're directly told from everyone in the series pre Shinjuku and sukuna calling Yuji a vessel or sukuna's vessel that was his soul purpose
@ I agree 100%. Seems fucked to pour this much shit on it though when there was so much good. I’m not defending the ending more so the series as a whole and the creator
Wanting a sukuna flashback isn't bad. We don't know him, but you claim to? What exactly makes you believe you do? A heian era flashback back does so much for the story in terms of flashbacks for characters, understanding their motivations, and expanding on the world building. That last part is a serious problem in the series. I understand the hate for gege is much, but the critics and questions the fans have are not all unfounded.
@@Isekaizen6466 it’s ok to be a critic and want more. I don’t mean to attack the whole community just the ones that shit on the series as a whole because it didn’t turn out like they wanted. I know that’s vague but that’s how it is with any story. I want to know more about Kenjaku. That was my big let down. But hey, was still fun
@ Sukuna is also dead bruh, so stop bruhing other people. Sukuna died yet we got something about him but nothing from Gojo? Character who is the only reason for why everyone else can live further? Think before you open your mouth.
The comments are once again filled with a bunch of people who didnt actually read the manga and spout tik tok terms. Im ngl going from "why couldnt we have seen all of Yutas life in a flashforward" to "you don't have to show yutas life in a flashforward" proves what criticism of this show lacks. Understanding, whining and not having everything spoonfed to you. JJK is not written like other shonen, it doesnt explain everything If you dislike that form of writing thats fine, but to go "mid story" is just showing your ass didnt read a single thing You just wanted cool fights You didnt care about the actual story
I thought this was things I missed not "things zhonin wanted but didn't get" lol as always you yap and whine about this manga you supposedly love which just contributes to the artist feeling less-than. Frankly, you didn't deserve more than what you got 👍
Well let's not act like these 4 chapters where great. Megumi not having a chapter is criminal. And I don't even like his character. Yuta also being head of the Gojo clan, but not getting to see him or other gojo members was also crazy, it'd not even about whining, it just didn't make sense to make some of these chapters like nobara was out for over half the story, we didn't even know her mom existed till 2 chapters before the final one, worst part is she dosent give a damn(rightfully so) so why include it if there was no real reason to?

He is just a narrative tool
And protagonist are characters who drive the plot. Jjk has alot of characters who drive the plot in some way so it has many protagonist and alot of side characters fall in this category.gojo , yuta , maki , hakari megumi etc.
And antagonist are the characters which the MC and protagonist face challenge from. Kenjaku and sukuna are these characters
In most stories. MCs are also protagonist but in some stories. It's best to split the roles like jjk.you say gege didn't know the difference but he clearly does like I've described
Having yuji just be the eyes of the audience is perfect for telling the story of Jujutsu kaisen. That's why I don't understand why people say yuji is a bad MC, he doesn't affect the plot but that's by design. He literally embodies the themes of jjk to a teeth. Themes about perseverance and humanity is what jjk is about
Who let Gege cook (again)?
@@tajwalker5493 is that a fact?
@James-bs8bd Networth or geges lost of passion for the series?
To me, the only exciting epilog was sukuna's part, For Me, the rest of this just felt like unnecessary filler that didn't know what direction it wanted to go into.😅
But hey, hopefully we get jujutsu kaisen Shippuden, And this time Maybe sukuna can be the main character I don't know how will it happen? But I hope I will.😏👌🔥
Sukuna gonna be like Cranky Kong in donkey kong country.
I'll give it about 2 or 3 years until ppl are like "OH NO JJK ENDING WAS ACTUALLY FIRE"
Thank you for telling me what happened in this chapter. The video does come off very whiny though
@@white00joe I hear you, however, let's not act like Yuji didn't heal a literal gapping hole in his torso. Which is just as vital as a limb.
Im thinking he went for a somehat realistic ending .. in real life we do t always grt all the answers we want ....... but aint real life so it kinda sucks unless we getting a part 2
No megumi 💀 but hey we got ozawa….
So pandas cores get busted multiple times but now all of a sudden can’t move or talk lmao I used to defend this dude but he clearly don’t care about us just making jjk money
He did Goji dirty
My disappointment from this anime is bottomless.....such a waste of a promising story. Wish i could forget it existed
This was as stupid as the ending
damn how many ending this gonna have?? and still trash if OP do something like this you would never hear the end of it.
This show has one of the worse endings of all time within animes 🤦🏽♂️ such a waste
All the jjk hate. It’s fine to not like something but damn. Lame.
I hate that he messed up
Most wasted potential in a series. Such a fumble.
Bro. You write you an ending for it
Gege can't finish.
Why does Yuji have scars? Can’t he just heal himself?
Gojo's technique cannot be copied without his body with 6 eyes .
You are illiterate.
Is this from Gege or fan fiction?
Gege
Gege. It's in the official volume.
still a dogwater ending lmaooo
I wonder how many times hes gonna rewrite the ending. Just fkn write jjk 2 that ending was fkn trash and no amount of video essays are gonna change that
It's not a new ending though it's an epilogue
@@johncrowley3322 it’s just bonus for fans ballsack
No Ino ?
Everyone says “this ending sucks” for any/whatever anime. Then couples years later and the same people go “it was actually pretty good”.
For the new people, this is typical shonen/manga industry. A lot of series are not gonna be what you want so best advice is to accept and hope the author makes something “better”.
The industry doesn’t give room for artist to fully express their image. Ex: MAPPA
Asides from the dope fights drawn by gege. The story is still ass
I was more than satisfied with JJK ending but, of course, some people have to cry because they didn't get their desired ending
This is writing is crap
This manga was so trash lol
Basically blame leakers agenda kaisen, and lobotomy kaisen for bad reading comprehension
What a great series, it's over but we keep getting more and the author continues to not specify anything.
😮
nothing about gojo, man, gege is so petty
gojo is dead bruh
@ Sukuna is also dead bruh, so stop bruhing other people.
Sukuna died yet we got something about him but nothing from Gojo? Character who is the only reason for why everyone else can live further?
Think before you open your mouth.
@@senjusan6359 we know more about gojo then sukuna BRUH
The comments are once again filled with a bunch of people who didnt actually read the manga and spout tik tok terms.
Im ngl going from "why couldnt we have seen all of Yutas life in a flashforward" to "you don't have to show yutas life in a flashforward" proves what criticism of this show lacks.
Understanding, whining and not having everything spoonfed to you.
JJK is not written like other shonen, it doesnt explain everything
If you dislike that form of writing thats fine, but to go "mid story" is just showing your ass didnt read a single thing
You just wanted cool fights
You didnt care about the actual story
I fuck with all of this thank you gege this my all time favorite anime/ manga
Gege with one of the biggest manga fumble of all time 😭 he should've just rested for a year or two if he waa burning out.. Honestly we wouldn't mind even a 5 year hiatus instead of doing us dirty like this.
