    Lee was my first trumpet influence at age 10, 62 years ago. Still one of the greatest.

    Lee Morgan is one of, if not THEE best trumpet players to play the instrument.

      koobmoon 745 who would you say?

    • @MudStuffin
      @MudStuffin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Aaron-nc9if I mean, most would say Wynton just because of how much he's done for both jazz and classical trumpet. Some argue clifford brown because no one has as much influence as he did for the very short time he was around. He died when he was 25 after only two years of recording and still put out some of the best standards to this day. If we are talking trumpet, not just jazz, then Phil Smith and Bud (Herseth?) are definite contenders. And Caleb Hudson is probably the best piccolo trumpet player there is, and he's still really young too.

    • @MudStuffin
      @MudStuffin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I'm bias towards Caleb Hudson because I was in his studio, but we had masterclasses with people like Mark Gould (old juilliard trumpet professor) who say that there is no one that can do what Hudson does.

    Lee Morgan. Listenin to Lee doin Ceora and Moanin. Lee had just been absent from my thoughts of ..the greats of jazz. How? There were so many great players...on all instruments...its understandable. Not like today...with all the rubbish the public is "into"!! Where ?..how ?...did it all fade away. All things change, I suppose; but the demise of jazz is a mystery to me. I loved it so...still do! Lucky I've amassed some 400 cd s...of the greats of the past..so I can still dig!!

      Demise?? I wouldn't say necessarily say that per se, it just becomes more difficult for the newer generations, as so much has gone before, more difficult to stand out, to bring something new, doesn't mean they're lesser musicians. Jazz is always reinventing

    Interesting most of the G7s he plays them with the sharp five. In other words G augmented arpeggios

    • @TheRedstonedeluxe
      @TheRedstonedeluxe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do that (an altered note) with any dominant chord and it sounds fine in jazz

    phrase is wrong on the second to last G7 of the melody. there is no enclosure there. scratch the C# out and its all gravy

    • @abagthisbig2894
      @abagthisbig2894 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      teeny There’s no c# on the second to last G7. Uncertain too, of what you mean by ‘enclosure’.

    • @abagthisbig2894
      @abagthisbig2894 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now I see the c#. It’s in the second to last G7 in the theme, the ‘melody’ if you will. However, I think it’s correctly written.

    Is this supposed to be for transcribing practice??? Became I’m not sure where I’m tuned to but my guitar is a whole step sharp to this, and I know I’m not tuned UP!! I’m down a half step if anything.... lol

    • @grantorino70
      @grantorino70  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's written for Bb trumpet, so it is transposed by a whole step
