My mom had a van like that and she travelled from Canada to the U.S. in it all the time. She just loved it, she used to called it her tortoise shell. She liked that everything was in the van and that when she visited friends she was self contained and that she didn't have to bother her friends for anything. Enjoy your travels.
What a wonderful idea, you are sure to have some exciting adventures and feel even closer to nature. A great way to explore the world. Many congratulations.
Congratulations on your purchase! I am excited for you! It looks really nice. I would love to have one. So now you can have another channel about van life !! 😊 Enjoy! Et bonne route !
This is so great! Congrats! Can’t wait to see the amazing places that you all travel to! BTW - we were on Prince Edward Island a couple of weeks back and met a couple from France. They had shipped their van to Canada and were traveling with their young daughter across Canada, down the west coast and head to South America! On the road for a year! Crazy right? Crazy great! A wonderful family! Their daughter showed me her journal with photos of her on the plane to Canada! So cute! ❤
Welcome to van life Emilie! Please share the link for that air mattress you mentioned. And thanks for sharing your new adventure machine with us. I hope you get many miles of enjoyment from it!
Thank you! Unfortunately, the mattress has been sold out at LLBean's. here is the link: www.llbean.com/llb/shop/125159?page=llbean-camp-futon-ii-double-sleeping-pad
Congratulations on the van! I also just purchased a new RV for much the same reason - wildlife photography and the ability to "go farther/stay longer" and be self-contained. I bought a Winnebago Solis 59PX, with the only real drawback being the low ground clearance of the generator. Keep in mind too that those windows can be ideal for using your van as a blind (can you slide the screens open also?). I plan to make use of my windows for that purpose as (I'm sure you know) almost all animals ignore a still vehicle.
Thank you and congrats on your solis too. I nearly bought one but was worried about the clearance but it is a great van! Love the idea of using the window as a blind. I unfortunately can't remove the screen :(
Emilie, this is a perfect way ro go. I too have been trying to pull the trigger on a van for all my photo journeys but still havent found what I want. I really like yours. That would be perfect for me as well. A van is my answer, just hard to find the right one. Happy trails!
Let us know how you like it after a full year using it. I had a HUGE (Amerigo) slide in truck camper back in the day made for a four door pickup truck. Huge queen size bed over the cab with a full wrap around window & all the comforts of home. The back pulled open to sleep 2 plus the ole table down to convert to a bed also. Great waking up to them beautiful scenic country views in the am. So big, took a while to sell with most people not having a truck heavy enough to carry it. Might purchase one of them sit on top pop-up tents for my Nissan Frontier pickup. Use the bed with cap for gear, & supplies/water camp toilet/etc; storage. Haven't decided yet. Have fun.
@@EmilieT either or with yours being better for your needs. I already have the truck with cap on it. Would like to spend a couple of months in the SW, US one winter. A fall up near Yellowstone & Grand Teton one year & then the same up near OlympicNP & the Canadian Rockies another. After that all local. Well maybe a short vacation down in the Biuoy! Did I spell that rite? Have fun.
Congrats on landing a gig with Natureside Wildlife Tours. I look on their website but did not see the tours you are leading yet. You are listed as a team member.
Hi Emilie! I have been camping in my Tahoe with my dogs to do wildlife/landscapes/astrophotography and also have been researching vans for a while. I'm still on the fence about it and figuring things out as I camp in the Tahoe. Congratulations, it is very exciting!
I have a 4 wheel drive camper and I almost never turn on the 4-wheel. A 2 wheel drive camper is good enough for anything I'm likely to do in it. I don't think you need 4 wheel drive, especially if you don't camp in the winter.
I‘ve been looking at the prices of these lately. Far too expensive, in Australia, even the ones with over 200,000km! Most are over that! Enjoy it! You only have one life and you‘re still young to get around in it. I‘ve left it a bit late!
You should keep an eye out. it is never too late to follow your passion. Also sometimes some good deals come along. I waited 5 years to finally buy my van.
Emille can you help a subscriber on my new om-1 camera I can’t get the focus bleep to enable because I like to hear the bleep when focusing I have enabled and allowed everything in the menu still no bleep is there volume settings in the menu. Regards Alan UK.
Sorry for the late reply. I will make a video for you. But you need to turn on your camera, press ok. That will take you to the control panel, then make sure you don't have a heart next to your shutter mode, so if you use Sequential, make sure it is not silence sequential. I think that is probably the problem you are having.
@@EmilieT Hello again Emille I checked there is no heart in the shutter mode I am hearing the the shutter click and also getting the green focus light is working ok but still no beep , I,m Scratching my head now lol, it’s probably a simple adjustment in the menu somewhere Emille I will keep trying to work it out, thank you so much for replying meantime. P.S. Just watched your vlog at the Sagueny Fjord what beautiful location.
Sorry, but I couldn't help but think of the SNL skit about Matt Foley, the motivational speaker who is "Living in a van down by the river." th-cam.com/video/Xv2VIEY9-A8/w-d-xo.html . I am sure you will have great adventures in it. One of my good photography friends has been living this life for years, first in a camper on a pickup truck, then in a nice conversion van. He follows the seasons from Alaska to Baja Mexico.
Ahaha that is a running joke in our family. Especially as we sold our house right before the pandemic and are renting. We will probably end up living in a van down by the river! The good news is we got a van!

Wow! You mentioned you were contemplating this when you were in St. Augustine. Congratulations!!!
yes that is the van I saw before going to St Augustine. I am glad it all worked out.

Ahaha I love that!
Congratulations on getting your van!!

I wish you many happy adventures in your new van :)

Great idea!!
Congrats on your van! I’m so jealous!

Félicitions pour cette acquisition. Peut-être un petit voyage au Québec!
Merci! Ahaha ca va être pour la vidéo de ce dimanche :)
Congrats on the van - we have a natures head composting toilet in our camper - they are great! Save so much water.
Thank you! Yes I am excited to have a composting toilet and saving some water.
That’s awesome. I’ve always wanted a photography van.
Well it is never too late to get one :)
Looks good!
Have fun with it 👍

It looks so good, Emilie!! I can’t wait to see it.

OMG you really went big!!
I did. With this market, my chance of being a homeowner is so low that at least I have a van.
Do you have a safe for protecting the camera gear?
Ahaha It is always with me.
