Mr. Batio is not appreciated enough amongst todays players. But without him, we would all be years behind. Many players back in the day played really good, but this gentleman took the time to sit down and explain his stuff. His Star Lick video will always be one of the best instructional videos ever created!
+Vela S I don't think it was, but that wasn't what I said. I sad that it was the best, not the most influential. According to Mr.Batio, the Star Licks video sold way more copies than Speed Kills.
I agree in 100%, he's 1 of the best. Yet, he's officially recognized by 1 US journal as the fastest but it's not only this. He's simply virtuoso and has only 96 place on the best g. list and should be much more higher. In what is he worse than Ynwie M or my favourite Steve Vai (I am fan of) or some other much higher on this list?
He is unbelievably cool and down to earth. I don’t know of anyone else who can do what he does, but he talks to his audience with warmth and charm. He’s funny in a crazy way the way he calls his hand “Joey”.
Sigurd Fylling Kaarstad, VERY TRUE BROTHER! AND HE IS JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THEN THOSE PLAYERS, NO QUESTION!! GREAT COMMENT BRO! FROM NEW YORK CITY,USA!!
The MAB outside the box perception is funny "how can you be outside, if you don't know what's inside"? I was working on an assembly line with 20 ppl in a factory, everyone had to be familiar with 20 different work stations , to be able to do every job if needed. The rules were very strict for safety glasses break time, and productivity three supervisor s were watching at all times In the machine shop department the rules were much less strict , i found the ppl wanted to do the same job over and over for weeks on end This was a paint department, so if the product had an issue like blemishes in the sanding department, or the parts were not dust free enough because somebody wanted to have good productivity on paper. In a group meeting with engineers , they ask you is there room for improvement , and nobody answers! I spoke up and said yes, the guy with the high productivity on the cutting machine with 150% productivity, should blow off his cut with an air hose before it comes to be painted. Our numbers are 60% because we are getting dust under the paint. We have 150 pieces to paint on a hangers, on a chain cranking through a powder coat booth! We have to blow off everything ,and it is time consuming. The engineer was actually mad at me for speaking up. "Everyone does one job, and stays at their station." It is amazing how inside the box people get when they are comfortable! The point is , the people with all the different jobs on the 20 workstation assembly line, with managers watching like hawks, were much better problem solvers. MAB with all the techniques and composition knowledge, really stAnds out from the rest, as being very musical and technical, not a "one trick pony"
What an inspiring musician! MAB is so underrated. Yeah, he does the dual-guitar thing which has become kind of trite, BUT, he enjoys doing it and that alone is infectious. Better still, listen to some of his classical guitar work ... :)
Why Jimi Hendrix should play Paganini's Fith Caprice?first question...Brian May,David Gilmour Jimmy Page etc etc haven't got a degree in music because the were born musicians...are you able to write a piece of music like them?then Classical music that I love especially the piano player it' full of virtuosity of course but at the same time it' full of melody...listen to the Chopin's piano concertos for instance.

I love Mab I wanna meet him in person so bad I spoke on the phone with him once
Great interview, shows the intellect behind the player, I´m really impressed!
Unbelievably sympathic guy. Supermodest and funny, very human. I like him.
