I just assumed Frisk basically "wake up" at the beginning when ever you reset. Hench "That means I am underground sleeping and there is no way up". Since they may not fully understand everything as a "game" just that things do keep repeating.
This is why the first time playing this game (and not sparing everyone) is so important. All of the songs I've seen were always about Mercy or Genocide, but there is a big gap in between those endings no one really talks about.
+C-Gal I think this put's emphasis on the line between Love and Desire. You have the choice between doing what feels good to you, and what feels good for everyone else. You look at the path that lead you to your current spot, and you're now at the apex, you can finally get what you've always wanted.....but you'd have to give up what you love and hold dear. you know ever since I played undertale I have always thought about that mercy button and sparing monster when I suddenly realized something. in undertale you dont spare the monster, they spare you... yes I realize that sounds like a bad Russian joke but its true. when you fight the monsters and you spare them, they are actually trying to spare you, they are sparing you from genocide and in a way teaching you compassion empathy and ext, when you fight froggit, you have to be nice, when you fight snowdrake you have to be a good audience. in a way the monsters are teaching you how to be compassionate and an all round better person that why when you fight asgore he smashes the mercy button, its because hes not offering mercy, you have to offer him mercy by defeating him.
Actually you can also be rude to Froggit and still spare him,but its just reminder And there also many ways to end battle without killing monster,but not being kind,like continue calling Snowdrake jokes bad and more things
Asgore is truly a good king. He did what he had to. I know he shouldn’t have warred with the humans, but he did what he *had* to. He even thinks that he can’t be forgiven because of what he’s had to do. Truly underrated character imao

@Dart It wasn't done to be with his family. He did it to free monsters. I have no idea how it would be attributed to him being with his family either? What would it have done? Toriel, his wife, left _BECAUSE_ he said he wanted to kill humans. How would killing them bring her back? If he truley selfishly wanted his family back, he would have stepped down on his declaration; He didn't though. He continued pushing away his only surviving family member, because he wanted to fulfill his promise to his people. He didn't leave with only one soul, because he _promised_ monsters a war with humans. If he had gone with one soul and talked to the humans, he would have been betraying their trust. As far as he knew, all Monster wanted humans to die, all of them wanted a war. He _has_ to fulfill his promise to them. If monsters can't trust him to live up to his word, who can they trust? He didn't want a war to happen. He was a coward. Instead of coming clean about his intentions to his people, he convinced them he wanted to kill humans, because he thought it's what they wanted. And instead of fulfilling his promise, he waited, because while monsters were trapped; they were at least alive. If Monsters remained trapped underground forever, then both Monsters and Humans could live happy lives. I'd like to point out how _fast_ he was to change his tune the second any monsters showed they didn't want the human to die. Even Mettaton was so utterly _convinced_ that he wanted to kill humans. Undyne herself, who was almost raised by him, thinks he _WANTS_ a war with humans, that he _WANTS_ to harm them. He was doing what he believed his people wanted him to do, and was to afraid to let them down to pursue his own desires. Of course, his people believed his lie so well, they never objected to it even when they wanted to, so he never knew the truth. Gerston also states that Asgore isn't the most intellectual monster, so it's not a huge stretch to say he doesn't think things through properly. It's easy to see him taking things like that at face value, no one directly opposing what he's doing means that no one objects to it. I'm not saying his actions were the right actions by any means; but his motives are incredibly complicated, and in the end driven by his people.
@FluffyDragonDrawing but monsters wouldn't have a happy lives. They aren't happy, they're depressed. The red jester in snowdin just tells us that they have to force a smile to be happy. And there's problems with overpopulation, said by the seahorse guy in grillby's. The underground isn't a happy place, its filled with problems and the only reason they aren't all depressed is because they still have hope that Asgore will free the underground.
I could barely take killing Asgore on the neutral run, but this song makes me feel as that much worse. Asgore may have done terrible things but everyone deserves forgiveness. Staying in the Underground wouldn't be so bad. Don't take this the wrong way though, The song is beautiful and I see you going many places with that kind of talent.

I don't know why this has less views than others. This is a much better cover. This cover demonstrated the main character and not asgore. I have nothing against asgore but this should be the way it is. In the pacifist run, this is what you so call the make believe ending until you reach omega flowey, it gives u false hope that all has to end now, only allowing you to do the wrong decision of killing asgore, this cover demonstrated it very nicely, the intentions of the main character. Very well made cover. Alas I found someone decent.

This cover implies Frisk's journey is just a dream and they committed fraud, embezzlement, purjury, wrongful imprisonment, kidnapping, grand larceny, and a whole bunch of other crimes.
This is my favorite cover of Asgore's theme. I love the ones from the perspectives of Asgore, I truly do; after all, Asgore's theme is my favorite theme of all of Undertale, but this one is so heartfelt and full of passion that I nearly start crying.

Amazing work. I'm expecting someone any day now to do a version from Asgore's point of view in a very deep booming tenor, or a "pacifist Chara" version where Chara is actually supportive of Frisk and doesn't want them or Asgore to die, questioning why they want to go back to the surface so badly.

I don't know how to describe it properly but this song sounds 'heavy' to sing but your voice it 'strong' enough to sing it properly (if that makes sans). But from 02:09 till 02:35 it sounds odd to me, probably because of the change in speed. The beginning is amazing, from soft to strong is nicely done! I do think you missed some notes here and there but keep this up, get more experience and you will be singing even better before you know it! *Again, I am not bashing her! This is by *FAR* my favorite lyrical version of this song. Not only is your voice absolutely beautiful, but you bring a level of emotion and feeling to these lyrics I can't even describe. (The lyrics themselves are also the most emotionally charged out of all the variations I've seen, and you translate that energy perfectly.) It is an absolute crime that this version is seemingly overshadowed by Man on the internet's generified version.
This does a good job of telling the perspective from Frisk, which is great. Man on the Internets does a great job of showing Asgores motivations. I have no issue with this song being used to express frisk/the player; there are a lot of potential songs to do that with. Almost any song could work because they play a key role in all of them. Asgore only has this song though, this is his only chance to shine. And for a while, this was the most popular version, which I found disheartening not because it's bad by any means; but because I see this song out to listen and feel _him_ not the PC. It's _his_ theme, and his only theme. I don't think it's really wrong, to have a characters only theme be popularized as a take on them, instead of the PC.
You step foward to see the king of monsters watering flowers, strange, is it? How he has killed 6 diffreant kids, and yet he dose this? Well some people have there hobbies can't judge. The king welcomes me with a look of a knowledge what he will do and a look of remorse and he talks and tells me it will be "like a trip to the dentist". Well I already have been told what to do. This is still the best vocal take on Asgore's theme I've heard yet, and coincidentally, I think its the only one where the perspective is from Frisk. Your performance is so moving and beautiful with how much regret it conveys.

He continued pushing away his only surviving family member, because he wanted to fulfill his promise to his people.
He didn't leave with only one soul, because he _promised_ monsters a war with humans. If he had gone with one soul and talked to the humans, he would have been betraying their trust. As far as he knew, all Monster wanted humans to die, all of them wanted a war. He _has_ to fulfill his promise to them.
If monsters can't trust him to live up to his word, who can they trust?
He didn't want a war to happen. He was a coward. Instead of coming clean about his intentions to his people, he convinced them he wanted to kill humans, because he thought it's what they wanted. And instead of fulfilling his promise, he waited, because while monsters were trapped; they were at least alive. If Monsters remained trapped underground forever, then both Monsters and Humans could live happy lives.
I'd like to point out how _fast_ he was to change his tune the second any monsters showed they didn't want the human to die. Even Mettaton was so utterly _convinced_ that he wanted to kill humans. Undyne herself, who was almost raised by him, thinks he _WANTS_ a war with humans, that he _WANTS_ to harm them.
He was doing what he believed his people wanted him to do, and was to afraid to let them down to pursue his own desires.
Of course, his people believed his lie so well, they never objected to it even when they wanted to, so he never knew the truth.
Gerston also states that Asgore isn't the most intellectual monster, so it's not a huge stretch to say he doesn't think things through properly. It's easy to see him taking things like that at face value, no one directly opposing what he's doing means that no one objects to it.
I'm not saying his actions were the right actions by any means; but his motives are incredibly complicated, and in the end driven by his people.
Yet, because of that he loses his wife but he still does for the monsters.
@FluffyDragonDrawing but monsters wouldn't have a happy lives. They aren't happy, they're depressed. The red jester in snowdin just tells us that they have to force a smile to be happy. And there's problems with overpopulation, said by the seahorse guy in grillby's. The underground isn't a happy place, its filled with problems and the only reason they aren't all depressed is because they still have hope that Asgore will free the underground.
I could barely take killing Asgore on the neutral run, but this song makes me feel as that much worse. Asgore may have done terrible things but everyone deserves forgiveness. Staying in the Underground wouldn't be so bad. Don't take this the wrong way though, The song is beautiful and I see you going many places with that kind of talent.

I don't know why this has less views than others. This is a much better cover. This cover demonstrated the main character and not asgore. I have nothing against asgore but this should be the way it is. In the pacifist run, this is what you so call the make believe ending until you reach omega flowey, it gives u false hope that all has to end now, only allowing you to do the wrong decision of killing asgore, this cover demonstrated it very nicely, the intentions of the main character. Very well made cover. Alas I found someone decent.

Amazing work. I'm expecting someone any day now to do a version from Asgore's point of view in a very deep booming tenor, or a "pacifist Chara" version where Chara is actually supportive of Frisk and doesn't want them or Asgore to die, questioning why they want to go back to the surface so badly.
If Chara is only a conduit for the player´s bloodlust, it would make sense that they are also the conduit for the player´s mercy.

I love your voice for this song. I don't know how to describe it properly but this song sounds 'heavy' to sing but your voice it 'strong' enough to sing it properly (if that makes sans). But from 02:09 till 02:35 it sounds odd to me, probably because of the change in speed. The beginning is amazing, from soft to strong is nicely done! I do think you missed some notes here and there but keep this up, get more experience and you will be singing even better before you know it!

This is by *FAR* my favorite lyrical version of this song. Not only is your voice absolutely beautiful, but you bring a level of emotion and feeling to these lyrics I can't even describe.
(The lyrics themselves are also the most emotionally charged out of all the variations I've seen, and you translate that energy perfectly.)
It is an absolute crime that this version is seemingly overshadowed by Man on the internet's generified version.
This does a good job of telling the perspective from Frisk, which is great.
Man on the Internets does a great job of showing Asgores motivations.
I have no issue with this song being used to express frisk/the player; there are a lot of potential songs to do that with. Almost any song could work because they play a key role in all of them.
Asgore only has this song though, this is his only chance to shine. And for a while, this was the most popular version, which I found disheartening not because it's bad by any means; but because I see this song out to listen and feel _him_ not the PC. It's _his_ theme, and his only theme. I don't think it's really wrong, to have a characters only theme be popularized as a take on them, instead of the PC.
