Interesting video. Wayne and Ford are infamous, and I'd heard stories about Brennan being a bad person. Frawley doesn't surprise me, and I'm not too shocked by Crosby, given all of his family issues, though it's interesting that he was such close friends with Armstrong and still held on to his racial prejudices. Disney's not too surprising either, but I'm very glad that his empire has since done a 180 from his views. It's kinda sad about Brando's antisemitism, given that he was such a staunch supporter of Native American and civil rights. I'm most disappointed to hear about Stewart. I'd not have thought that about him. We know that the first half of the 20th century was not a good period for people of color, and all of these persons were a product of that time. Hatred is taught, and I have always said that we are all ignorant about something, so you can't really blame someone for their ignorance if they've been taught to hate and/or don't know any better. But when people are told and shown and even experience different, and then choose to stay ignorant, then they truly are the very worst of what they've shown us 🫤
As a black man looking back on this era, I can't put 100% blame on the entertainers for the way they thought about racism! This way of thinking was a part of the institution of how America operated! This way of thinking was passed down from generation to generation, in most white households! It was even taught in schools, and made part of laws in America! It was just a normal part of white society, to think of blacks, native Americans, Mexicans and Asians as being less than white people! Many years have passed since those days! And you'd think that America would be completely evolved by now! What's really sad is that, it's still a lot of white people who's holding on to this ignorant way of thinking! Which is so insanely disappointing!
One fact you'll never hear in Britain or the USA is that Walt Disney was adopted from Spanish-speaking family.
