    A few additions, Airbus is head quartered in France, the main owners are the French, German and Spanish states with together 30% of the shares.
    And it's a damned good thing there is competition, both Airbus and Boeing have factories around the world. Boeing was originally Böeing and a German immigrant to the US. Eventually they will have to compete with the Chinese too.

      I find that Airbus planes are a bit more stable in flight during light turbulence (particularly clear air turbulence) due to the advanced flight computers being able to compensate for it before the plane actually starts to move (I have seen the ailerons flapping all over the place and the plane doesn't really move that much), same for windshear compensation
      But for heavier turbulence, the more flexible wings that Boeing is known for usually provides a smoother ride

  • @jejewa2763
    @jejewa2763 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Which plane, depends on the pilot. The main difference for the pilot is that each different plane cockpit configuration for Boeing is different but with Airbus they are all the same so the pilot can jump from one cokpit to another different plane and all the controls are in the same place, a big selling point as less training is needed.

      I don't think they can win mine back. Why?
      1. They didn't properly inform and train pilots. It is reported that there is no mention of the MCAS in the flight manuals of the plane.
      2. They made the warning light an extra. It's literally essential.
      3. All of this problem was because they instead of building the airplane from scratch used an old airplane to fit in new and bigger engines that the airplane was not design for. They were cheap and these people payed for it.
      4. Boeing did much of the work in certifying the plane instead of the FAA. Just so it could be faster the approval process.
      4. And even after they knew all of this they blamed the customer for the 1st crash. The second crash could have been avoided if they didn't have blamed the first crash on the customer and had fixed the software/plane right away.

    You missed one really important difference between the two manufacturers: Automation versus hand flying.
    Boeing aircraft typically use flight yokes, whereas Airbus aircraft use little joysticks, known as side sticks.
    Boeing flight yokes are typically designed to give tactile feedback to the pilots, whereas Airbus side sticks do not.
    Boeing aircraft are meant to be flown first, and automation second, whereas Airbus aircraft are designed to fly themselves, with the pilots monitoring the systems.
    This is why the 737 MAX has been so disastrous for Boeing, because they have never created such a system before, whereas Airbus has been doing this for over 20 years, and has paid for those lessons in blood.
    This begs the question why Boeing didn't take advantage of Airbus's missteps; in 2010 an Airbus A320 crashed during a test flight by an airline, when two of the three AOA sensors frozen in place at the same time, due to improper washing procedures. The flight computer ignored the working sensor, incorrectly diagnosing the faulty sensors. The plane crashed, because the pilots were too low to the ground to figure this out and to recover.
    And just to think that Boeing only used one AOA sensor for the MCAS system... even Airbus was smart enough to use three before the 2010 crash.

      isnt it a bit ironic, manufacturer who resents automation gets bankrupt due to faulty automation

    • @TheEDFLegacy
      @TheEDFLegacy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Loop IF they do; they've got tons of lines of businesses and aircraft to fall back on. But it is ironic all the same.
      They tried to pull an Airbus, without studying one's automation line-by-line, component-by-component, and reviewing all the safety investigations over the past three decades to have an idea on how to do it.
      Had they done so, the twin 737 MAX crashes would have never happened.

    right, Boeing is supposed to have more experience how to construct safe airplanes. The performance of the 747 was simply awesome, actually, all Boeing models did well. Airbus is like the little brother, they were under pressure not to make any mistake because Boeing was already dominating and if they did the slightest plunder they would be out forever. Since approx 25% of people have slight degrees of fear of flying (aviophobia, affects just 6.5 percent), the aviation industry is mainly about safety in flight.

    Airbus makes better aircraft. Compare 737 and A320, I flew on both types and found the A320 to be more comfortable .
    One major difference which is observable is the landing speed. The A320 approaches and lands at slower speed and just requires wheel brakes without reverse thrust to slow down. Really comfortable landing.
    The 737 has much faster approaching speed and when it touches down, the reverse thrust seem to be on full throttle to slow it down. You can actually feel being thrown forward as this happens.
    Perhaps why many 737 skid off the runway during landing in bad weather is because of this.

    • @SidestickPilot
      @SidestickPilot 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aaron Richard reversers do very little if anything on normal and dry days. 737 and 320 both mostly use wheel brakes. Both are fantastic aircraft and approach speed is more based on a companies SOP then the aircraft.

      Not really. The 737-Max is a complete failure with 2 crashes in 4 months due to Boeing and the FAA overlooking basic aerodynamics with the new engine replacements going above the wings and the new autopilot adjustment sensor systems not having a backup when it fails. (which was what caused the 2 crashes already). Airbus' neo series has some of the most advanced and safe systems and also have some of the most luxurious cabins in existence. I like Boeing, but considering the corruption of them with the FAA, I don't think they can be trusted so easily anymore.

    Their design philosophy is quite different. Airbus puts the computer in control with the pilot as a monitor, and in many situations the pilots can not override the computer controlling the airplane. Boeing always gives the pilot the ability to have final authority, with one note able exception, the B737Max, which is being revised to allow pilot over ride as we speak. Pilots fly Boeings and use computers systems to assist at their discretion. Computers fly Airbus aircraft with pilots providing computer inputs. In an Airbus, the computer has final authority. An early A300 demonstrator crashed at an air show during a low level fly by because it had not been programmed to do such a maneuver. The engineers had said "why would you ever want to do that? If you are that low and slow you are going to land." Which the computer did, only there was no runway there. I'm an engineer, and you just can't think of and program around every situation that can arise. You can get most of them , but not all of them. I'll take a Mark One brain as the final authority all day long, and the B737Max will emerge from the dark side soon.

    • @indahooddererste
      @indahooddererste 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it was actually an a 320 and the pilots who were barely trained on the a320 shut down some of the computer which other systems were referring too. which caused a minor failure. At the end u can shut down the computers and fly it perfectly on your own.

    The premise is that companies are battling each other. Not so fast. In telephone, early patents allowed the Bell System to quickly take 80% of the nation's present and future networks. GTE invented the phone dialer and was able to secure it's own 15% of the nation's phone market. What was left were the mountainous and desert areas which made service more expensive and less reliable. GTE's reputation suffered. Telco engineers knew otherwise. Both Airbus and Boeing will continue to lead in aerospace engineering projects, world wide. Cast of 1,000s.

    • @richb313
      @richb313 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Willy Pilot training had everything to do with it. Does not matter how experienced or how many hours you have if the training is inadequate or faulty. For some reason the Pilots were not able to understand the fault and take corrective action. This was a recoverable incident made worse by the Pilot/Pilots not taking the proper actions. You can turn off power to the Horizontal Stabilizer Jack Screw and it can be adjusted manually. No matter what MCAS does it can't turn it on again. These switches are centrally located in easy reach of both Pilots. If a Pilot does not how to recover from a systems failure that is Training Fault.

    Please make a video on air india .. it's a very old Arline company ..Almost 85 years old..It was once one of the best airline in the world and now it has lost all its glory and reputation .. and is also has a great bebt and a lot of political plays involved in it .. but guess what no matter how bad air india is ..It always makes history..!. Air india conducted the world's biggest international evacuation program for more than 45 days and saved millions and millions.. it flew all the way from new Delhi to US with full women Crew .. starting from the ATC, to the pilots , to cabin crew to the ground handling workers .. entire crew were women on the occasion of international women's day .. was also the flew the longest flight untill singapore airlines over took it very recently

      Boeing:
      Old man; suffered more bruises in his lifetime so far
      Airbus:
      Teenager; suffered fewer bruises in his lifetime so far.
      You get what I mean?
      I prefer Airbus btw

    The Airbus head office is at Toulouse in France and its origins are much older with original company producing the Caravelle and other Aircraft.
    They might use the Netherlands for a Tax Haven but that is all

      General Electric is a global company which uses human resources from all around the world. A lot of european and asian engineers are working on GE aircraft engines. But you are right, GE probably makes one of the best aircraft engines in the world.
