You’ll want to speak with an Elder Law attorney in your State who also handles VA benefits prior to deciding on the best path. There are many factors that will come into play with this, so a deep dive is necessary to ensure benefits are not put in jeopardy.

If someone wanted to leave all their belongings including a paid for house and car to a a friend, who will also take care of their end of life tasks while simultaneously keeping ALL their family members from getting it, what would be the best option?

@@A_Class In California, a Living Trust prepared by an Attorney in our opinion. If done properly this will be the least likely to be successfully attacked by family members who feel upset about being disinherited, and if the beneficiary in this scenario can be construed as a caretaker this is a real concern to plan around.
