You absolutely did the right thing. Authenticity is under fire in this modern world. You are finding less and less examples of authentic things whether they be Pokémon cards or people. You saved someone down the line from a scam and that along with keeping someone that is authentic is the most important thing.
Your are 100% right but im telling you that's one of the worse experiences is breaking the ice to them that their first edition Charizard is fake......who would've thought that's one of the worse things you can tell a person today lol
It’s really heartbreaking for both sides but I think you ultimately did the right thing. It’s not the easiest thing to do and not the easiest news to receive but in the end she will be better for it. Could’ve been potentially so much worse for her to get buyers lined up only to have everything explode in her face. You were looking out for her best interest and that’s the best thing you can do
without question, you did the right thing. telling the truth can never be the wrong thing. if someone is unwilling to accept reality to the point of quitting their job to avoid the situation, that only says something about them, nothing about you. you've got a subscribe from me with this one :)
Sad part I barely see the differences between the cards. Like the color slightly and place sets of the shiny stars in holo section are different. What else is there that defines it is fake?
Take any generic pokemon card and look at the back of it and compare it to what you see in my video. There's so many spots on the coloring and even design. This card screams red flags over it. I think I'll do a video on how to tell if a WOTC card is fake.
On this one it's easiest to tell by holofoil - pattern is wrong. If you have card in hand tho, cardboard stock is the most sure way to tell a fake. Then there's other signs depending on quality of the fake. This one has surprisingly good print on the front just looking at the picture.
The truth hurts sometimes. Other times, it was all part of the plan. I think overall it was the best option. They needed to know, especially if they are trying to sell it. The blowback could be bad.
I remember I was in middle school when these packs were just coming out and Charizard was being sold as is at the card shop back in the 90s. They had a bunch of other rare cards and I think at the time it was like $100? Crazy how today these cards are so relevant and cost so much o.0 I remember right after school we would run home or to a friend's house just to catch the episode of Pokemon on TV. Man old school Pokemon was the best back then lol we've come a long way now and I'm going to my 40, the kids in my family are also pokemon fans albeit the game not the cards. I went back to the old neighborhood a few months ago and so much had changed too, that card shop is no longer around and which make sense a lot of video came and card local shops had been irrelevant as time went on. I remember they ripped the kids off back then X.x
That sucks but she would of found out eventually and probably would of been more mad at you had you not told her. This is a time that you'd want to be the bad guy.
@thepullfather for sure just seemed like they knew it was fake and tried to scam you with it. So bailed after getting caught. Keep up the great content :)
my buddy bought some of these fake cards non graded to give out to his friends. Theyre really good fakes, the shades of red on the front, and blue on the back are just too dark though.
Why did the employee take the picture inside your house? floors and wall matching, seems like a fake story to flex your own charizard and made your wife take a picture.
@@SolemnShade Not the same floor, not the same walls. I think he doesn't even have a dog as can be seen in the background of the allegedly fake charizard card. I cross checked with some other videos, even verifying the light balance. Doesn't seem the same house. The women on the picture clearly likes to paint her nails, as does his wife, as do millions of other persons. What I don't understant is: didn't you want to see the card by yourself @thepullfather ? I find it kind of risky to deduct from a picture. Lighting can have a big impact. Telling such news bears a lot of responsability and further checks may have been made.

@ honesty and integrity trumps all. The truth will hurt, but will set you free.
Her quitting is wild. You did good. On top of losing her charry she is jobless. Like wut..
Yaa not really sure why she quit? I guess she would've jumped ship soon anyways

Thank you and Welcome to the Channel! It Only Takes ONE!
Definetely the best decision to tell her! That honesty is worth a follow but hard and tough story.
Oh it was very tough story to tell lol

@ thanks for the tips. Yeah A side by side card video would be great 👍 😎

she clearly wanted to scam him to buy it and quitted when got caught...

I agree.

Thats a super tough situation, always sucks to tell people their cards are fake

As she decided to quit, she already knew it was fake and got caught ?
@@bradhenry832 I can usually read someone really well. This time I really can’t pin point it
well if it was real she would of sold it and you would of lost an employee anyway, my guess is shes still going to try to sell it

More easier said than done wanting to be the bad guy
Why would they quit after getting the truth? Seems like they are extra dumb

Why not reveal your collector status to your employees?
Just to maintain that boundary
