I think it’s just stupid that she has priority on her crushing counter dodge attacks. Shinobi undodgeable mixup doesn’t even work because she counters it, same with Valkyrie mixup. I know you could just feint to parry but it’s so dumb that she’s the only character that invalidates both of those punishes
easier to play? what? easiest to play is bp, alfeera, the pirate, raider even, but valk and shinobi got nothing, shinobi has a lot more than valk and still plays like warden@@trevorhume7107; the chinese kensei clone unblockable spammer is the easiest in the game
I’ve played the game since launch. I used to think that after all these years some characters destroyed the game until I figured that every character is worth learning due to the fact that they all have their flaws and also their unique ability to fit every playstyle. 2024 got back into the game about a month ago after like a years break. I kinda enjoy the game more than ever now. All characters are great and the game is blooming now with both veterans and new players. The toxicity is at a minimum (at least in my case) and it’s actually very balanced. I’m just happy that my favourite game is still as adrenaline fuelled and epic and cared for. Plus I love the community. My worst enemy’s in the game are some of the most skilled and awesome players ever. After almost 8 years, there is only one thing to say about For honor and all of you people playing it! I love you guys❤️
I just feel For Honor devs should give some heroes the ability to dodge forwards to cancel attack recoveries, not the ability to dodge anything crazy but it allows a small change that could be good for someone like the Varangian I think, or I also think Jormungandr and Centurion would have at least something different too that I personally feel they're missing
I've had a ton of fun playing her, then again I enjoy playing characters with simple but effective movesets. I do agree I rarely do anything else other then unblockable out of all guard because of the buffs she gives everyone in 4v4. However I'm surprised you mentioned you light with her a lot due to the fact if I were to try I'd get light parried easily so I often use heavy or bash to start fights
I do like the way she plays, especially in 4s, but I do agree she needs something in her chain to make her offense more interesting. I wouldn't be opposed to a middle chain attack to give her some variety. My idea is make her second attack be either a light without cc but still enhanced, which leads to her normal finisher, or a heavy with small hitbox but hyper armor which leads to her finisher, or you can charge the second heavy and it's her normal finisher unblockable but where it can be light interrupted on read like Cent's unblockable. It's an idea that I have no idea how to balance but sounds cool in my head.
love the vinland saga lmao something of note, she has crushing counters on the chain lights and her dodge attack. the dodge attack can be giga brained and option select some undodgable mix ups (like against shinobi flip to undodgable)
I think the only change i would make for varangian is maker her have a bash to be used in combo and maintain her chain attack, but keeping her heavy as a finisher and combo end And maybe give her hyper armor ONLY when she performs a superior block, just to avoid getting your punisher broken by some random coming up and attack you instantly cancelling your punishment (it might not be common, but when it happen, oh brother It's painful)

It's just animation, nowadays all lights are 500ms so you literally can't make them slower, because you will make her not be able to light att ever. Just look at how almost no good zanhu will throw the light unblock, because it's 100 ms slower and even on console it's reactable enough to party on reaction a lot of the times at least.

Bit late but I was talking to a mate and he said “if you can play warlord you can play VG” to prove we went into training picked warlord first then VG then he said play VG like I would with warlord and now I see their so similar to each other just with slight differences
VG is kinda Bogus -CCs on both lights? -CC on Dodge light -Both those windows seem easy to execute. -External Hitbox on lights and finisher heavy is INSANE! -She can slow time like Bayonetta with her full block

She’s way too op in my opinion. I constantly see rep 1 guardians destroying my high rep team all because she punished everything, and even punishes our punishes. When she’s not going into full guard mode or using a crushing counter, then she’s spamming lights and bashing us when we try to guard break or bash her
Does anyone else feel like Ubisoft just hates the Vikings? I mean there’s some of the supposed worst characters in the game in that faction And they also have horrible customization, except for Highlanders skin, which is actually awesome but other than that they just try some Conan the barbarian customization options, and I feel like most of the characters I wanna play are just kind of outdated, especially with today’s characters and meta. I desperately wanna play warlord and raider because they are pretty cool, and I like their play style, but raider has gone through so many ups and downs, and I feel like he struggles so hard against new characters and warlord is a safe option and he is good but very basic and not the most fun thing to play I have been hunting through every article I can find to see if they ever plan to rework him
The armor variations and set they gave for the Vikings has been bad so far and they gave Varangian Guard the same treatment as the Warmonger. Better armor than the other characters in that faction but gender-locked to the woman. Imagine having a male variant of those sets on those two.
id say its the meta that hinders her that and what i call the law bringer effect where you only have one or two Comboeses that are very predictable and relays on defense
Nearly three Seasons have gone by and I can now say this opinion just not true, you can be brain dead, and have an better experience than any year 0 or year 1 hero
I personally like vg and got pretty good with her shes a simple but effective hero and i dont think a simple hero automatically makes them boring as plently of people like warden and hes super simple. Though with all my playtime with her she does get boring when im winning so much as i win most of my games with vg. I dont think she has anything thats crazy bs or anything thats super underwhelming like ocelotl prowler stance. All in all a decent hero who can become a menace in the right hands

I just unlocked varangian guard yesterday and I was very underwhelmed with her moveset. I played with her in 2v2 for like 4 hours. I was so excited to get another shield heavy class hero who's focus was on defense. that's why I decided to do what you did and look to see if there's something I'm missing. from my limited experience with varangian guard needs more offensive chains she can do. it was very hard to keep my opponents guessing. and I think she would benefit if her full block stance wasn't temporary. how can you call her a defensive hero when other heavies such as Black Prior and Conqueror are much stronger at defense.
I think she needs another chain option besides light into heavy. She feels like a year 1 hero with a new look. Granted I literally just got her yesterday and played kinda bad becuase it feels so weird playing such a basic ass kit. Even BP has way more options than her. But like this vid I'm determined to keep trying her. Edit: against a turtle what can she do. Her openers are too easy to read and not fast enough to fight a good player that's turtling in a 1v1
Surprisingly, she's very convenient and has plenty of useful tricks. When playing her I never feel myself fallen in a hopeless situation, because I'm always able to do something to my enemy. And of course this is exactly the character that whole Russian/Ukrainian community has been begging for.
Needs a nerf hardcore I’m alright with buffing other parts to make up for it but nerfs as follows -lights need to have ether crushing counter or enhanced property’s not both in a 1v1 you are playing her game and only at her speed and in 4s she can just spam and hit your teammates with guaranteed damage for no risk as well as she has a safety net that if you do lights in the same guard even if by accident she wins starts her mix up -that shield stun needs to be toned the fuck down some characters legit can’t play the game when she’s around I’m alright with her following up but not stunning you the babysit gank is to real and being able to burn revenge is not chill - and lastly canceled ending recovery’s with stance is broken as fuck because she recovers to fast if it was like bp where it’s a punish after a read fine but she’s safe on this move and it makes killing her an impossible task sometimes where you are forced to bash and revenge feed I do like this character but never in the history of for honor has a character ever come out that literally stops you from playing half the cast that’s not healthy at all I get it externally getting hit in not fun but I’d rather that then literally sitting there waiting for her to tell me when I can play the game again

She’s fine as is she’s just more defensive focused she’s a solid B, B+ hero and that’s okay not every hero is gonna be exceptionally strong and while her offense lacks her defense is incredibly potent.
@danieldryden718 this game is too unblockable focused for her to be anything special. All the best heros in 4s all have amazing unblockables. Zhanhu, jj, raider, lb, BP, shugo. Only top pick she does well against is shinobi and medjay
@@soulbender1987 very very untrue, her unblockable mixup is one of the absolute strongest in the game hithoxes are massive you can put a big delay on the heavy it can be soft feinted into full block and guardbreak if it's dodge attacked you can recovery cancel into full block and punish that, her crushing counters are the unquestionable best in the game, she has one of the undeniably best unblockables in the game, she can UB out of the full guard punish that has huge hithoxes and will hit lots of people in team fights, no one wants to be the first to attack Varangian Guard just because of her insane fullblock that is a very very heavy punish, she is absolutely undeniably meta defining no two ways about it and to say otherwise in her current state is just plain and objectively incorrect
@@DMC_Motorsports she also just dies to the guard break button and external unblockables. And her unblockable is pretty good. I also wouldn't necessarily call her full guard really anything too crazy. No better than aramushas. Her bash is also trash due to it most of the time being gb punishable. Overall in teamfights she may seem safe on paper but in reality again she dies to the gb button. She's like shugoki where u can pretty much gb all his recoveries hense why he is also unsafe in team fights. Also I never said u need an unblockable to be S tier. But u do need an effective way to defend against them externally and on recoveries. Both of which she can't do
I don’t know about buffs and balancing, but I know one things for sure: I feel myself losing braincells every time I feint into a full block, they do a dodge attack, and my full block is gone before they hit me. Maybe it just needs to last a little longer?
Her fullblock actually lasts a little longer than bps or aramushas, but if u do the soft feint it can't usually full block dodge attacks, only interrupts. I suggest just hard feinting and parrying the dodge attacks tbh
She’s balanced until you have another vg there in a fight and if your fighting two of them and getting ganked then she’s extremely broken and it’s seeming obvious that people are getting bored of her straight forward warden 2.0 50/50 mixes that they’re just bashing and dodge baiting the bash. It’s very boring and needs a new feature to her moveset other than that boring chain. She also needs an increase in how much she feeds revenge when ganking and yes she probably shouldn’t have a crushing counter dodge light that’s excruciating.
For some reason the newer characters are so boring and so simple in their moveset, the only thing in my mind that I would consider fun is afeera, she got a whole lot going for her, compared to the rest of the outlanders and VG.
I gave afeera 80 and medjay 80 . I feel that Afeera was crazy easy to rep up and quick I would get 35 damage for light or heavy party or on wall splat I'd get 58 damage on wall splat

I don't know why nobody plays her either. I've played 20 straight games with no other VG except me. Shes S tier because she has every tool in the game and absolutely no weakness while simultaneously being the defensively strongest hero in the game
IMO shes really fun to play in tough sweaty games against very good opponents But in games where your team is stronger shes really boring as she's like bringing a gun to a knife fight
Her offense may be vanilla but it's over powered in dominion. Huge hit boxes and enhanced lights with a very favorable animation. I love when a VG hits me in the back with an unblockable heavy from a mile away.
They are running out of ideas, I just like the axe and shield. I can finally make my khorne warrior >:D. This was probably the first hero I waited to buy with steel, she just looked so bland. She's like a worse bp with a pin that is useless in duels. As for the Aztec, I thought he would be my main, but I hate the hunter stance so badly and sometimes my dumbass accidently goes into. I wish they would just remove it and made it a dodge forward heavy. These last two heroes have been lackluster, not sure how they will spice them up going forward or maybe they have just given up.
I’m late here, but i recently got her and i honestly love Varangian guard, i get plenty of counter attacks and i can 4v1 way more easily than with any other character.
Tbh personally I hate the fact her blockade is slow like compared to my 3rd main musha her version of blockade makes no sense I rather play musha because blockade is way better for example the light after zone of zerk is ez to counter with musha blockade but with vg its literally impossible it makes no sense to me why they add another hero with a blockade that arguably worse then the blockades we already have I'm pretty sure bps is even faster as I can flip orochis deflect but or the light after zerks zone but vg is just mid
@@brokendrifter4626 you’re right. It’s historical. But, For Honor lost its realism 6 months after its release. Knights would be winning 90% of their battles if it was realistic with iron/steel suits and swords. The only way to kill a knight is suffocation, getting their armor off, or literally shooting them.
I think the character is ok, but her abilites are dog shit and the other classes have way too much shit that makes them just better against her. For her abilities T1: Take shelter i feel is dog shit. If you're in a team fight you're most likely never using the SBlock. You're going to be prio parries just because the amount of unblockable feint spam is in the game. Body Count.... do i need to say more? Not good minion clear. And stamina and health gain extremely negligible. Speed revive. Its ok T2: Ward. Extremely negligible cant even tell. Thick skin. Same thing as ward, but i feel is just plain better Thrilling Comeback: with hiw inconsistent venge is. This ability is just downright useless, and even the healing is not noticeable. T3 Aesir Aura: its okay. Its just a small atk buff for hitting your "trap" move. Punch through: imo just not good. Chip damage is just really neglegible especially when most people have, and throw dodge attacks over blocking. Shouldnt even be T3 feat. Protected revive: its ok. T4: Reclaim the land: just give me the debuff banner/aura. The ability can only be used outdoors; which means you cant even put the debuff in indoor locations. Regenerate: its just passive healing out of combat. Its ok i guess. Stalwart banner: i believe its just a bettet regenerate, but on a CD and for the whole team. I feel that the worst thing to deal with for this character above all is other Sblocks in team fights. Every other character except WL(i believe) can just hold their block without reprecussions. To fix this just add stam drain for holding hell priors passive gives him healing for holding; so why doesnt he lose stamina for doing so. Kyoshin flips his sword around so why doesnt he slowly drain stamina while holding. In TFs its much worse cause if they're both holding and you GB one. The other attacks immediately so you're stuck. Lastly they just need to rollback venge, or rework it to be consistent. Especially with DOTs like nobu bleeds
I can not stand how annoyingly loud and obnoxious they keep making the new characters. I can hear this she-hulk screaming from across the map. Not to mention her and that shield/mace harpy screeching non stop every .5 of a second a game starts.

Surprisingly, she's very convenient and has plenty of useful tricks. When playing her I never feel myself fallen in a hopeless situation, because I'm always able to do something to my enemy.
And of course this is exactly the character that whole Russian/Ukrainian community has been begging for.

Needs a nerf hardcore I’m alright with buffing other parts to make up for it but nerfs as follows
-lights need to have ether crushing counter or enhanced property’s not both in a 1v1 you are playing her game and only at her speed and in 4s she can just spam and hit your teammates with guaranteed damage for no risk as well as she has a safety net that if you do lights in the same guard even if by accident she wins starts her mix up
-that shield stun needs to be toned the fuck down some characters legit can’t play the game when she’s around I’m alright with her following up but not stunning you the babysit gank is to real and being able to burn revenge is not chill
- and lastly canceled ending recovery’s with stance is broken as fuck because she recovers to fast if it was like bp where it’s a punish after a read fine but she’s safe on this move and it makes killing her an impossible task sometimes where you are forced to bash and revenge feed
I do like this character but never in the history of for honor has a character ever come out that literally stops you from playing half the cast that’s not healthy at all I get it externally getting hit in not fun but I’d rather that then literally sitting there waiting for her to tell me when I can play the game again

She’s fine as is she’s just more defensive focused she’s a solid B, B+ hero and that’s okay not every hero is gonna be exceptionally strong and while her offense lacks her defense is incredibly potent.
She's S in 4s she is meta changing/defining but she is a mid duelist
@danieldryden718 this game is too unblockable focused for her to be anything special. All the best heros in 4s all have amazing unblockables. Zhanhu, jj, raider, lb, BP, shugo. Only top pick she does well against is shinobi and medjay
@@soulbender1987 very very untrue, her unblockable mixup is one of the absolute strongest in the game hithoxes are massive you can put a big delay on the heavy it can be soft feinted into full block and guardbreak if it's dodge attacked you can recovery cancel into full block and punish that, her crushing counters are the unquestionable best in the game, she has one of the undeniably best unblockables in the game, she can UB out of the full guard punish that has huge hithoxes and will hit lots of people in team fights, no one wants to be the first to attack Varangian Guard just because of her insane fullblock that is a very very heavy punish, she is absolutely undeniably meta defining no two ways about it and to say otherwise in her current state is just plain and objectively incorrect

I also wouldn't necessarily call her full guard really anything too crazy. No better than aramushas. Her bash is also trash due to it most of the time being gb punishable. Overall in teamfights she may seem safe on paper but in reality again she dies to the gb button. She's like shugoki where u can pretty much gb all his recoveries hense why he is also unsafe in team fights. Also I never said u need an unblockable to be S tier. But u do need an effective way to defend against them externally and on recoveries. Both of which she can't do

I don’t know about buffs and balancing, but I know one things for sure: I feel myself losing braincells every time I feint into a full block, they do a dodge attack, and my full block is gone before they hit me. Maybe it just needs to last a little longer?
Skill issue
Her fullblock actually lasts a little longer than bps or aramushas, but if u do the soft feint it can't usually full block dodge attacks, only interrupts. I suggest just hard feinting and parrying the dodge attacks tbh

She’s balanced until you have another vg there in a fight and if your fighting two of them and getting ganked then she’s extremely broken and it’s seeming obvious that people are getting bored of her straight forward warden 2.0 50/50 mixes that they’re just bashing and dodge baiting the bash. It’s very boring and needs a new feature to her moveset other than that boring chain. She also needs an increase in how much she feeds revenge when ganking and yes she probably shouldn’t have a crushing counter dodge light that’s excruciating.

For some reason the newer characters are so boring and so simple in their moveset, the only thing in my mind that I would consider fun is afeera, she got a whole lot going for her, compared to the rest of the outlanders and VG.
I gave afeera 80 and medjay 80 . I feel that Afeera was crazy easy to rep up and quick I would get 35 damage for light or heavy party or on wall splat I'd get 58 damage on wall splat

Shes S tier because she has every tool in the game and absolutely no weakness while simultaneously being the defensively strongest hero in the game
IMO shes really fun to play in tough sweaty games against very good opponents
But in games where your team is stronger shes really boring as she's like bringing a gun to a knife fight

Her offense may be vanilla but it's over powered in dominion. Huge hit boxes and enhanced lights with a very favorable animation. I love when a VG hits me in the back with an unblockable heavy from a mile away.
They are running out of ideas, I just like the axe and shield. I can finally make my khorne warrior >:D. This was probably the first hero I waited to buy with steel, she just looked so bland. She's like a worse bp with a pin that is useless in duels. As for the Aztec, I thought he would be my main, but I hate the hunter stance so badly and sometimes my dumbass accidently goes into. I wish they would just remove it and made it a dodge forward heavy. These last two heroes have been lackluster, not sure how they will spice them up going forward or maybe they have just given up.

Tbh personally I hate the fact her blockade is slow like compared to my 3rd main musha her version of blockade makes no sense I rather play musha because blockade is way better for example the light after zone of zerk is ez to counter with musha blockade but with vg its literally impossible it makes no sense to me why they add another hero with a blockade that arguably worse then the blockades we already have I'm pretty sure bps is even faster as I can flip orochis deflect but or the light after zerks zone but vg is just mid

Knights would be winning 90% of their battles if it was realistic with iron/steel suits and swords. The only way to kill a knight is suffocation, getting their armor off, or literally shooting them.

I think the character is ok, but her abilites are dog shit and the other classes have way too much shit that makes them just better against her.
For her abilities
T1:
Take shelter i feel is dog shit. If you're in a team fight you're most likely never using the SBlock. You're going to be prio parries just because the amount of unblockable feint spam is in the game.
Body Count.... do i need to say more? Not good minion clear. And stamina and health gain extremely negligible.
Speed revive. Its ok
T2:
Ward. Extremely negligible cant even tell.
Thick skin. Same thing as ward, but i feel is just plain better
Thrilling Comeback: with hiw inconsistent venge is. This ability is just downright useless, and even the healing is not noticeable.
T3
Aesir Aura: its okay. Its just a small atk buff for hitting your "trap" move.
Punch through: imo just not good. Chip damage is just really neglegible especially when most people have, and throw dodge attacks over blocking. Shouldnt even be T3 feat.
Protected revive: its ok.
T4:
Reclaim the land: just give me the debuff banner/aura. The ability can only be used outdoors; which means you cant even put the debuff in indoor locations.
Regenerate: its just passive healing out of combat. Its ok i guess.
Stalwart banner: i believe its just a bettet regenerate, but on a CD and for the whole team.
I feel that the worst thing to deal with for this character above all is other Sblocks in team fights. Every other character except WL(i believe) can just hold their block without reprecussions. To fix this just add stam drain for holding hell priors passive gives him healing for holding; so why doesnt he lose stamina for doing so. Kyoshin flips his sword around so why doesnt he slowly drain stamina while holding. In TFs its much worse cause if they're both holding and you GB one. The other attacks immediately so you're stuck. Lastly they just need to rollback venge, or rework it to be consistent. Especially with DOTs like nobu bleeds
I can not stand how annoyingly loud and obnoxious they keep making the new characters. I can hear this she-hulk screaming from across the map. Not to mention her and that shield/mace harpy screeching non stop every .5 of a second a game starts.
