Spade and Carvey, if you haven’t already you’ve got to watch Talihina sky, the story of Kings of Leon. Been following the Followill’s since 04/05 back when they toured with U2. Been great seeing them reach their success 🙌🏼 well deserved.
lol Spade re: Crimson and Clover “EXCUSE ME?” My favorite Kings of Leon song ever is On Call. I was coming out of 6 months of AA. It was a really important song to me. Amy Winehouse’s Rehab was charting around the same time. She died right around then too. 2006. What a time.
Thanks guys! I have heard of them, but didn't really get into them, after hearing them on this episode, I'm very intrigued 😊 They have great taste in you and Spade, so they must be great themselves 😉
I'm an old fart so I wasn't familiar with KoL(heard OF them, never heard them), but from this talk it sounds like they're interesting guys and apparently they make great music. I'll be looking into them. Thanks, D&D! Love y'all!
Commenting before watching/listening just to show y'all guys support. Or, to be more exact, to support y'allses guysesses work that you'reses doing(s)!
Great episode as usual! Heads up @danacarvey you said "matriculating through the culture" when I think you mean "percolating". This isn't the first time so I think you may have the words confused. Cheers and thanks for FOTW.
Huh, just a thought from listening to the intro: The band had kind of en oppressive childhood (no TV and such). And Dana told a story or two about his dad not being "the no.1 dad" as well. Could this mean that a childhood of restriction leads to more creative output as an adult? Or maybe kids who couldn't do much because of their parent(s) value the independence and put it all to use, by working harder?
Respect to LOL from a fan and I'd be stoked to even talk to joe dirt and the guy I quote all the time Mr carvey. I say it's fricken bull shh all the time when I here something I think is fricken bull shh. lol
No disrespect, Any plans to get back to focusing on SNL-related cast, writers, occasionally a host? The whole focus of you two having a show like this is based in nostalgia, with 50 years worth of fellow cast & writers could use some love from you.
Not really the band's fault, but following Neal Brennan and not being comedians makes this episode a bit of a tough sell. Still love hearing Carvey and Spadoodle, though.
These guys were always great on SNL! Ok that Crimson and Clover story was gross if it's true. That ruined an amazing song from my youth. You guys forgot to ask them how the Eff they count in Sex On Fire!
Never thought I’d see Joe Dirt interview my favorite band. Pretty amazing.
I saw Kings of Leon in Portland last night and they were amazing!! Thanks for this show and thanks for the show last night
Red Morning Light is one of those songs you never ever get sick of

Great episode. Great guests. Give us a T for Tennessee!
Shout out from Chattanooga!
Whoa, how about this, a couple of my favorite comedy/podcast dudes and my favorite band!
I heard king of the rodeo for the first time a few months ago, new favorite, like it or not. Good thing I love it.
Jared saying Hansen is “still umm boppin across the USA” got me
lol Spade re: Crimson and Clover “EXCUSE ME?”

2006. What a time.
this was a cool interview !!!!!

Best band of the last 2 decades, imo. So much more than their 'biggest' songs.

If you're a HippieBilly, you'll love them, I think.
Makes me happy to know all these guys love the others art😊
I've seen both of these guys live. They're awesome. Carvey though is my hero.. "James Stewart sounds like a car that won't start". Carvey is a legend.

“Surprisingly yourself also surprises the listener.” Oooo, words to muse over by Dana Carvey.
More bands that played on SNL please!😁👍
Remembering Norm!!!
Please make this happen!!!
Please?
Hey, I'm in Cincinnati, and seeing your show. I expect to see Jared now, we have 4 kids so we won't be out late, I promise.
When David says “Let’s look at a clip” on a tv show, I wonder if it startles the engineer (or whoever)
Great episode as usual! Heads up @danacarvey you said "matriculating through the culture" when I think you mean "percolating". This isn't the first time so I think you may have the words confused. Cheers and thanks for FOTW.
Used to rack up lines and call it kings of leon, cos that was the cd case it was on lol back in the bristol days
No way!! This is gonna be good 👊🏼💥
Just an observation, but the only times lately that David Spade doesn’t sound like he’s slurring his speech to sleep is when someone references sex. 😂
This was great
Spudly, get anymore obscure we”ll have the bass player from the Outfield on I ahhh.
I respect David getting paid to do an add and then selling that ad to his own show.. unreal $$

Awesome!
Love you guys but I want to hear more SNL stuff! Kings of Leon tried steering the conversation back there a few times but it never lasted long

Gotta work these guys into Joe Dirt 3 as his son Theo Von's rascally friends.

This is so random
Hey.
How about the disgraced violin player from the DMB? Let’s hear his story.
These guys were always great on SNL!

“They take your children…” yeah and you guys wonder why I’m doing OnlyFans. 🙄
