It should be noted that the legendary component you have that adds an explosion when you hard land also always procs when you melee from the air. Given that aerial melee attack on colossus has a 50% damage increase, it's extra damage on top of that. It's much better than it seems at first glance.
Arrekz my man. I had to tell you that grand entrance works if you jump and then hit the melee button to slam to the ground. It just won’t proc if you stand there and use melee. But if you jump up even just a regular jump and melee it will work. You will see bonus orange colour dmg numbers to show it is indeed working. Colossus master race

I just got the Best Defense MW and Voltaic Dome today and needless to say, the build absolutely S M A S H E S. I’m still using the Sentinel Vengeance Grenade Launcher tho as my main so I can prime enemies from afar. Works even better than Rubidium Furnace IMO.
P!nchan sentinels vengeance is by far better than balm. If you are anywhere near decent on a colossus you shouldnt need more than grand entrance and best defense.

Get the master work of the Defender AR, "Elemental Rage" each hit on elite (and higher) enemies increases elemental dmg by 5% stacks up to 20 times. This really helps buff the Voltaic Dome dmg, getting you past those enemy shields faster and to the red health to proc the freeze effect. Alternatively you can also swap the siege cannon for the Solvent Green (masterwork venom spitter) for the 200% combo dmg boost. This forces you to go more melee but helps boost the Freeze -> Smash combo boom factor. Enjoy! Edited for correct % boost on elemental rage.
Pretty useful mobility tip for us Colossus mains: Activating your shield can cancel lots of animations, making you much quicker to start running or ground pound (melee) again. *Especially when wanting to land faster.* You can cancel the delay time in which it takes for the Colossus to get back up. Pretty useful when landing in a crowd of enemies. Can also be used for the Shield Pulse perk (possibly Battle Cry as well). After the pulse goes off, activate your shield to cancel the rest of the animation and go straight to flying or running again while still having the desired effect of the ability. Higher difficulty can mean even the slightest of openings you give the enemy game over for you in a matter of 4 seconds. It takes some getting used to, but it really does make you move faster, to a degree.
I run a super similar build but with Ralner's as my second, for fast, endless combos. After detonating the frost primer, use Ralner to apply a fire primer and detonate that too. Then theyre re-freezable. Rinse and repeat. I rarely even have to fire my weapon.
The Grand Entrance component works also for Melee aerial atks. So it actually packs quite a punch. One slight jump and you get a strong melee with the air dmg modifier (which is higher than base melee atk) plus you trigger the component, causing some extra fire damage.
Also, imo, ablative shielding is quite useless. 25% damage reduction for 5 seconds and the mod itself gives you the same amount of any masterwork combo (while it should give you much more, like the purple one does). At that point the support skill extension is much more useful, since you can run the damage reduction support for a much longer and reliable damage reduction.
I was just gonna post this. It's great to rip through shields and armored enemies when you don't run the coils - since I'm usually on firewall/rail gun to cover the entire field. You will find me hopping around on things like a giant gorilla. It's goes pretty great with Demolition Tribute too, that I got literally 20 minutes ago.
You should be jumping up before you melee combo. You are missing out on bonus damage from the masterwork and just the boost in damage from airborne melee
I started out on Storm, and I like it. However, the Colossus, is a beast. I love the shield. Mowing bad guys down is a blast, and I love the Shield melee.
I find the acid launcher with the other electric coil is a solid combo too, the acid launcher gives you 200% combo damage which is insane....im still one shotting adds on GM3 with it. I use the other electric coil to detonate combos, prime with the launcher and also I got a legendary assault rifle that primes dude's with fire....super OP
@@tonystark559 Just try to use the colossus components, they have the most armor, the universal ones are much lower armor and shield. Once you get all masterwork components it makes a huge difference with survivability.
Great thing about the remote detonate launcher is the fact you can fire a few rounds off, pull out your shield and still detonate the mines. On a side note, my friends have nicknamed my colossus the "tow truck" because I'm alway picking them up
I have similar setups. My armour rating is insane on the Colussus, I can barely even see my max armour now. I'm trying to balance it out, as I find unless I'm doing GM3 I don't need that much health. I only prefer the health for staying alive / tanking to help revive I tend to focus on armour / resistances rather than all out damage. So I tend to look for weapons which have _+% armour and some resists as well as crit dmg / dmg I use the coil which shocks + freezes people then combo it with melee, I can just crowd control with it. I also combine it with the legendary siege launcher on R1, it restores 33% armour which is a free health restoration when you're low
I have been getting the heal on the lurker masterwork to proc by hitting one target, but you have to make sure the initial shot hits the target and detonate it immediately so the blast hits the target very soon after the physical damage number pops up. Sometimes it doesn't proc but most of the time it does.
I got endless seige about 4 days ago with an inscription with 100% bonus magazine size. With me specing for it, the highest i've had for magazine size was 597. XD It's crazy and this build is close to the one i've been using. for awhile ( I mean, anyone who gets the legendaries probably uses it because it seems so great to use. One move heals, one move freezes and primes) any colosussus would immediately see those two legendaries and go "eeyup, that's my new to-go combo". Either way, still love the video~! Keep up the content man! You cranking them out like a mad-man! XD Loving it!
I have an Endless Siege with extra ammo too and some other pieces with ammo. I have a magazine with 600 rounds and reserve ammo over 1k. This weapon is absolutely god-tier.
I love this build. I can’t wait to try it out myself. I don’t have all the parts, but I think I have enough to get a start. The grand entrance should be re-worked to some5ing like this : above 5m( second jump and above) your ground slam deals 15% more combo damage and has 25% increased radius ...... or something like that. The perk now SUUUUUUUUUXXXXXXX

I've been running this build for about a week, minus a lot of the specific components. I have found that Ralnor's assault rifle makes a great distance primer for the build when you can't get close enough to use the shock coil.
Not gonna lie man..I'm not much of a Colossus lover..but bra..after seeing this and how much damage u can take and dish out..I just might try him on. Great video man. Keep it up
I finally got the stalwarts badge but I think one of the recent updates changed it. It's masterwork perk still increases gear damage, but when your hit with a status effect.
Got very lucky with an Endless Siege drop came with an extra 100% damage and 65% magazine on top of it's unique perk with colossal stock it's packing a whopping 800 round magazine it shreds absolutely everything I love it!
Can't wait to see what you come up with for the Ranger. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, Thunderbolt of Yvenia combo'd with Avenger's Boon and Cold Blooded pair very nicely. Also true with Siege Breaker for priming enemies should your grenade still be on cooldown. (PS4)
i run a similair build to this but, i have a legendary Endless siege with 225% dmg on it and i focus more on Autocannon dmg with secondaries and it works great. i can melt mobs on GM2 fairly easy. I do like the endless defense for the sustain. i do use a epic master work that increases the dmg of the autocannon and ammo. It is a great build to focus on guns and abilities to sub in as needed.
Now that i have enough armor for my interceptor to have it at masterwork power level i want to try something new. Or to use a cool metaphfore i have been driving around in my ferari for too long now i want to drive the monster truck aka the colossus lol.
David Neraas if you main an interceptor you’ll become familiar with the Colossus very fast since both are close range. The only thing is that you need to know how to use your shield properly for both defense and attack, with a Colossus you want to be aggressive most the time even with your shield. Use the enemy health drops to keep yourself healed and the shield to withstand heavy attacks or to dash or bash enemies with it. Shield dashes (sprinting with shield towards enemies) and bashes (melee with shield) have the chance to knock enemies to the ground and give you time to deal some free damage. Though that won’t work with big yellow health mobs, also avoid shield dashing into them or you’ll get stunned for a sec. You also get stunned if you loose all your shields so avoid that.
David Neraas - You'll find as a Colossus, you are ideal for picking up fallen comrads as well. Nothing more satisfying when your entire team falls to a Stronghold boss on GM2 and you simply walk to each one, shield drawn and repair them while taking the beating and your health bar doesn't move.
My endless siege has +75% to magazine size so I have 720 rounds per clip. I hit for 4K per tick on the tyrant in GM1. I have a legendary Ralner’s for the fire primer in my off slot. My legendary Voltaic Dome coupled with the solvent green launcher is GG.
I've done a very similar build to this but utilizing the Masterwork'ed Acid Spitter Solvent Green, which when equipped just increases your combo damage by 200% so I miss out on the sustainability on the healing weapon, but I gain big explosions
think about using these components, they are better, just try it and see for yourself :) a) keep grand entrance, its awesome constant aoe damage on your every melee attack b)get rid of ablative shielding, it only gives you a buff if your shield breaks, very situational, useless in 99% of the time - the epic version of that was giving way more hp and shield than the rest, the masterwork version doesn't and that makes it useless. use emblem of destruction instead. it gives you a 15% increase in all blast damage (your combo is blast) c)get rid of stalwart badge, dont need the extra ammo, replace it for vanguard emblem instead for +35% electric and fire damage. your 2 main damage elements. electric from voltaic dome and fire from grant entrance (dont quote me on that, its "explosion" and noone knows for sure what that means in this game... prob just blast dmg with no element, but just for the +35 ele its worth it) when you get demolition tribute - which is awesome btw :) replace emblem of destruction with it, or the epic 50% combo dmg if you need less dmg and more stats. btw your legendaries are pretty bad :( craft some masterworks and pray to rnjesus, in this state of anthem just being yellow doesnt offer much. getting good inscriptions is better.
Contrary Alex, Grand Entrance is great, it activates on jumping melee, and will obliterate enemy shields. Even flying Skarr Snipers/Gunners get hit in the radius and fall
You lose your ability to play aggressively by losing your best heal. You can do more damage by being able to stay in the fight. Not to mention that Venom Spitters are trash primers since it's single target and takes forever to proc
i was trying that out before. its solid fun as well, but not as fun as heals you get from using best defense but as you can see. the mobs are already dying from 100% bonus combo alone. and yea the low proc rate, you would either have to slow down your gameplay. or run double primers. which is "ok" but the fact that you can fire best defense from across the map like a heat seeking missle doubles its viability .
if you use ralner's blaze you can do only combo colossus Q-Freez Mele-combo shoot ralner's blaze 5 times mele-combo Q-freez and repete from there sorry for bad english

My build: use MW acid spitter that applies additional 200% dmg to ALL combos WHILE EQUIPPED, run MW shock coil to freeze enemies, use melee to detonate, deal a total of triple dmg during this process, all enemy explosions are doing triple dmg as well so they all die immediately, run MW component that regenerates armor on melee kill, regenerate half a health bar when detonating 3 or more enemies, leave acid spitter on for the perk, run additional weapons that buff armor, in my case being two assault rifles that buff armor by 75 and 90% respectively.
I like grand entrance becuse it extends your support abilities by 50%. I use shield pulse with it and get a 33% damage reduction for 15 seconds instead of 10. So I usually pop shield pulse to run in a crows and ststy using my voltaic dome
I have the masterwork Railgun in place of the mortar, let's me crit and set off combos with the shock coil. Using it on an Enforcer's tank damages it a nice chunk so I don't chew through as much ammo.
Oh dang I want that masterwork you are missing. I'm still leveling but I love the low level version of it! Holding my shield up and just plowing through mobs is the friggin best!
01Eureka lol I mentioned that same thing to an interceptor and they went all raging on me on how they deal a million times more DPS than a Colossus and how a Colossus “dies” so often. True thing is very few people outside of Colossus mains know how to play the class properly, other classes can’t stay in the heat of battle for long so they play Colossus the same... and then they die because they can’t get health regen from drops and don’t know how to use shield properly. Colossus requires shield micromanaging, proper combo skills and aggressiveness that’s counterintuitive of how the other classes play. That’s why you’ll always find comments on polar extremes calling the class OP or shit depending on the skill of the user. But like all us Colossus would say, we’re not OP, we just fit our purpose exceedingly well. We’ll never out-dps any other Javelin but that’s not the purpose of a Colossus in the first place. Our purpose is survivability and getting in the heat of battle so other classes are free to do their job without getting harassed as much. We’re also the best medics out there lol.
01Eureka if you understand all that you can become a great Colossus player. Not many people look outside raw DPS numbers when looking at a class. It may be a little frustrating when starting from 0 on a Colossus but once you get on with a solid build, it gets addicting and playing with a build on masterwork is the most fun there is :)
Grand entrance triggers with an aerial melee dealing additional damage, thus buffing the build and demolition tribute making it easier to kill with melee. I am a legendary colossus and deal 35k dmg aerial melee plus the additional 25k dmg from grand entrance. I play GM3, you NEED grand entrance
Okay, I have decided that.. I'll probably swap out my Special Ammo Component for a nice Combo Component. And keep trying until I get one that gives +% Armor. My current Epic Component (Special ammo) gives +55% Armor. Which comes down to about.. 30k extra health in my current setup. I still need Catalytic Overdrive, but doubling up on the Combo would indeed be a nice way of upping the wave clear.

I haven’t actually tried it in gm3. But in gm2 it works vary well. I’m on Xbox so I was a little behind the master race 😎

the grand entrance can also be triggered by doing a jumping ground pound, which adds to the damage.
50% duration on support abilities combined with shield pulse is quite strong and helps the whole team fwiw

This was the build I wanted when I started playing. Face tanking and healing is the best way to play.
I've found thunderbolt of yvenia a good secondary as it absolutely obliterates shields.

you can get the mag size to 800 actually, which is what im chasing.
Arekkz jumping first then doing a melee attack triggers grand entrance. Even just a small hop is enough. No need to fly high

Colossus WAS my least favorite. After doing a mission or two I fell in love. But then again, I've enjoyed every single class. A LOT
I finally got the stalwarts badge but I think one of the recent updates changed it. It's masterwork perk still increases gear damage, but when your hit with a status effect.

Got very lucky with an Endless Siege drop came with an extra 100% damage and 65% magazine on top of it's unique perk with colossal stock it's packing a whopping 800 round magazine it shreds absolutely everything I love it!

Can't wait to see what you come up with for the Ranger. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, Thunderbolt of Yvenia combo'd with Avenger's Boon and Cold Blooded pair very nicely. Also true with Siege Breaker for priming enemies should your grenade still be on cooldown. (PS4)
Suggestion. Jump up before you ground slam. It will trigger your legendary component and add to your combo.
I really like this build, good dmg, high survivability, run this on GM2 with random without issue. Good stuff~!
If you haven't tried out colossus its a lot funner than you think i like better than my storm because staying alive on storm is pretty hard for me
i run a similair build to this but, i have a legendary Endless siege with 225% dmg on it and i focus more on Autocannon dmg with secondaries and it works great. i can melt mobs on GM2 fairly easy. I do like the endless defense for the sustain. i do use a epic master work that increases the dmg of the autocannon and ammo. It is a great build to focus on guns and abilities to sub in as needed.
Now that i have enough armor for my interceptor to have it at masterwork power level i want to try something new. Or to use a cool metaphfore i have been driving around in my ferari for too long now i want to drive the monster truck aka the colossus lol.
David Neraas if you main an interceptor you’ll become familiar with the Colossus very fast since both are close range. The only thing is that you need to know how to use your shield properly for both defense and attack, with a Colossus you want to be aggressive most the time even with your shield. Use the enemy health drops to keep yourself healed and the shield to withstand heavy attacks or to dash or bash enemies with it. Shield dashes (sprinting with shield towards enemies) and bashes (melee with shield) have the chance to knock enemies to the ground and give you time to deal some free damage. Though that won’t work with big yellow health mobs, also avoid shield dashing into them or you’ll get stunned for a sec. You also get stunned if you loose all your shields so avoid that.

David Neraas - You'll find as a Colossus, you are ideal for picking up fallen comrads as well. Nothing more satisfying when your entire team falls to a Stronghold boss on GM2 and you simply walk to each one, shield drawn and repair them while taking the beating and your health bar doesn't move.
My endless siege has +75% to magazine size so I have 720 rounds per clip. I hit for 4K per tick on the tyrant in GM1. I have a legendary Ralner’s for the fire primer in my off slot. My legendary Voltaic Dome coupled with the solvent green launcher is GG.
You can use grand entrance with your melee while in air does good damage.
The legendary component u have can also be used when u jump then hold the melee button
I've done a very similar build to this but utilizing the Masterwork'ed Acid Spitter Solvent Green, which when equipped just increases your combo damage by 200%
so I miss out on the sustainability on the healing weapon, but I gain big explosions
Ablative shielding should add more armor and shield reinforcement than other masterworks. Its bugged :(
totally agree, my first legendary was Ablative shielding, when i got other masterworks i was very disappointed
think about using these components, they are better, just try it and see for yourself :)
a) keep grand entrance, its awesome constant aoe damage on your every melee attack
b)get rid of ablative shielding, it only gives you a buff if your shield breaks, very situational, useless in 99% of the time - the epic version of that was giving way more hp and shield than the rest, the masterwork version doesn't and that makes it useless.
use emblem of destruction instead. it gives you a 15% increase in all blast damage (your combo is blast)
c)get rid of stalwart badge, dont need the extra ammo, replace it for vanguard emblem instead for +35% electric and fire damage. your 2 main damage elements. electric from voltaic dome and fire from grant entrance (dont quote me on that, its "explosion" and noone knows for sure what that means in this game... prob just blast dmg with no element, but just for the +35 ele its worth it)
when you get demolition tribute - which is awesome btw :) replace emblem of destruction with it, or the epic 50% combo dmg if you need less dmg and more stats.
btw your legendaries are pretty bad :( craft some masterworks and pray to rnjesus, in this state of anthem just being yellow doesnt offer much. getting good inscriptions is better.
Finally something positive , at lvl 21 just beat the campaign . Liking it .
Contrary Alex, Grand Entrance is great, it activates on jumping melee, and will obliterate enemy shields. Even flying Skarr Snipers/Gunners get hit in the radius and fall
If you run Demolition Tribute, I think you can afford changing to Solvent Green for +200% combo damage

You lose your ability to play aggressively by losing your best heal. You can do more damage by being able to stay in the fight.
Not to mention that Venom Spitters are trash primers since it's single target and takes forever to proc
i was trying that out before. its solid fun as well, but not as fun as heals you get from using best defense but as you can see. the mobs are already dying from 100% bonus combo alone. and yea the low proc rate, you would either have to slow down your gameplay. or run double primers. which is "ok" but the fact that you can fire best defense from across the map like a heat seeking missle doubles its viability .

Got a masterwork version of best defense that rolled 100% charge buff so it has 2 charges. That’s one massive heal

My build: use MW acid spitter that applies additional 200% dmg to ALL combos WHILE EQUIPPED, run MW shock coil to freeze enemies, use melee to detonate, deal a total of triple dmg during this process, all enemy explosions are doing triple dmg as well so they all die immediately, run MW component that regenerates armor on melee kill, regenerate half a health bar when detonating 3 or more enemies, leave acid spitter on for the perk, run additional weapons that buff armor, in my case being two assault rifles that buff armor by 75 and 90% respectively.
I like grand entrance becuse it extends your support abilities by 50%. I use shield pulse with it and get a 33% damage reduction for 15 seconds instead of 10. So I usually pop shield pulse to run in a crows and ststy using my voltaic dome

I have the masterwork Railgun in place of the mortar, let's me crit and set off combos with the shock coil. Using it on an Enforcer's tank damages it a nice chunk so I don't chew through as much ammo.
The colossus never retreats, he just reloads.
This is MY play style. “Be tanky, run up, and set up shop in their freaking TEETH. Witness meeeee!!!!” Going to work towards this.
Jump melee triggers the Grand Entrance aoe. Adds about 2-5k.
Keep in mind that demo tribute doesn't proc if they die to combo damage but is still a good filler regardless

Nah, it just excels at the role it needs to do. It won’t out DPS any other javelin but it doesn’t need to in the first place.

01Eureka lol I mentioned that same thing to an interceptor and they went all raging on me on how they deal a million times more DPS than a Colossus and how a Colossus “dies” so often.
True thing is very few people outside of Colossus mains know how to play the class properly, other classes can’t stay in the heat of battle for long so they play Colossus the same... and then they die because they can’t get health regen from drops and don’t know how to use shield properly. Colossus requires shield micromanaging, proper combo skills and aggressiveness that’s counterintuitive of how the other classes play. That’s why you’ll always find comments on polar extremes calling the class OP or shit depending on the skill of the user.
But like all us Colossus would say, we’re not OP, we just fit our purpose exceedingly well. We’ll never out-dps any other Javelin but that’s not the purpose of a Colossus in the first place. Our purpose is survivability and getting in the heat of battle so other classes are free to do their job without getting harassed as much. We’re also the best medics out there lol.
01Eureka if you understand all that you can become a great Colossus player. Not many people look outside raw DPS numbers when looking at a class. It may be a little frustrating when starting from 0 on a Colossus but once you get on with a solid build, it gets addicting and playing with a build on masterwork is the most fun there is :)
In my opinion it's terrible I die a lot more with the colossus than all the other javelins

Grand entrance triggers with an aerial melee dealing additional damage, thus buffing the build and demolition tribute making it easier to kill with melee. I am a legendary colossus and deal 35k dmg aerial melee plus the additional 25k dmg from grand entrance. I play GM3, you NEED grand entrance

Try rolling a Universal Armor Component with +80% Armor, it will give you an insane bonus to armor (more than a MW/Legendary overall).
Okay, I have decided that.. I'll probably swap out my Special Ammo Component for a nice Combo Component. And keep trying until I get one that gives +% Armor.
My current Epic Component (Special ammo) gives +55% Armor. Which comes down to about.. 30k extra health in my current setup.
I still need Catalytic Overdrive, but doubling up on the Combo would indeed be a nice way of upping the wave clear.
