Hi Matt, I really enjoyed your story of how you got to see the Stones in 1981. As ELO sang on their song The Way Life's Mean't To Be, "I wish I was back in 1981". I agree with most of what you said about the album with the exception of Neighbours & Start Me Up although it's kinda cool to know somebody that loves Neighbours and hasn't liked Start Me Up from the off. I hope the weather is bearable in Texas. All the best - Richard
Thanks Richard. We've been fortunate with a lot of rain, which has made the usually miserable June and July miserable still though less so. Looks like that's going away and August lies ahead. I'd jump on a trip to Siberia or anywhere cooler for the next month and half in a heartbeat. Supposed to be 105 most of next week.
Good stuff Matt! That’s a really nice memory of your mom- I encountered this album in the late 80s and a friend and I played it nearly nonstop one summer (maybe ‘88) so it’s always been one of a few RS albums that I’ve especially liked or knew. I recently acquired a copy from Discogs- it arrived fractured - ha- never had that happen, but the seller was cool and I found another copy. Lots of stuff to like here. I agree about Neighbours. Waiting on a Friend is a classic. I always loved the sax solo - one of the best sax solos on a pop song and I only found out recently that it was Sonny Rollins- The Stones surprisingly treated the sax right in the early 80s. Hopkins also played on the track…. That guy….. really should be a statue of him somewhere 👍
Right Pat. Even though I think the Rock and Roll HOF is pretty rubbish Hopkins needs to be in there if he isn't already. They did use sax right in the 80s. Too many bands had the cheesy Lite Beer commercial sax on their songs.
Really enjoyed the review Matt, and the memories and stories, especially about your mom…take care..
Thanks Thomas. She was the greatest mom. Miss her everyday.

Thanks for the review Matt. I love this album and as we are similar age i wonder if part of its appeal is where we were in our lives.
I think probably so. Still in high school with all our lives in front of us and all that.
Good stuff Matt!
