I know the channel is “officially” about CNC-adjacent content, given the name, but I’m continually amazed by and thoroughly enjoying all the non-CNC related content here! Bummer about the Broken T(i)ps in this vid tho ;)
@BreakingTaps ... would love to see (meaning i and others would watch) or if you posted picts/video of how the leather flip-flops look after "breaking them in" after wearing for a while, and if you would think there are any improvements or recommendations for changes to your diy video and process if you were going to make another pair? (Do it all again) ... I'm not being critical of your work, but just wonder if you have noticed if there are any things you would change or not (assessments are a good part of good manufacturing or scientific process improvements). The follow-up would support the value of the hard work done in the diy video, which I think should prove itself versus those mass produced synthetic flip-flops which do not last as long as wearers expect or experience. Thank you! Compliments!
Yeah, I debated that too. Wasn't certain the patcher would go through the rubber in addition to the leather, and came to the same conclusion: if they come loose I can always try sewing them on. Thanks for watching!
An update! After a full summer of use, one of the soles is starting to peel a bit. I'm going to tack it back on with glue, but probably stitch it down in the future. Lesson learned I suppose! :)
I bought a sewing machine pedal but never wired it up. I think they are basically potentiostats, so wouldn't be too hard to wire that into the PWM generator (which uses a potentiostat under the knob). But yeah, never got around to doing it myself :)
Not really, they have held up well! I might have used a thicker piece of leather for the straps... they have stretched a little bit. But otherwise the flip flops are still doing great, still wearing them :)
Thanks! Afraid I had a hard drive melt down a while ago and lost the source footage/audio for some of my videos. This was one of them, and I'm not sure what the song was :( Got it off epidemic sound (licensable audio library) so it might be hard to track down too
Manual machine, goes by a variety of names but if you search for "leather patcher" you'll probably find it. Something like this: www.aliexpress.com/item/32997384879.html
What did you use for the soles and where can it be bought please? I love the sandals. I am in the process of making a pair of my own and was going to get a huge pair of flip flops from the dollar store to cut down and use as soles but I think yours look a lot more sturdy.
I used this stuff (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075TTDBGT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), although it looks like the price has changed since I bought it. There are similar and cheaper varieties if you look around a little on Amazon/eBay :) Goodluck! I'm still wearing these same flip-flops, they've held up well so far :)
hey there, look for VIBRAN, they are the best, little pricey but strong as hell. Also look for SOLETECH it's cheaper and super strong too. Mine is lasting a long time. get the 6mm is a good one .

Nice work.
I said oh dang the same time you did with the needle breaking.
I'm still doing by hand, so hard.
Nice machine there.
Very nice! Love the old singer shoe patcher . the swivel head in great. Hate when the needle gives way ,such a bother!
Отличный тяп ляп и готово👏
Okay. I need a leather patcher! Love how they turned out. Wouldn't it be great to tool the straps?
Buen día me gusta su trabajo excelente me gustaría saber las medidas de las tiras de antemano muchas gracias
Those look awesome, I definitely think they'll last a life a time.
Thanks, I hope so! Been wearing them around for about three weeks now and they are still holding up great :)

Nice one nice 👍🏾
Let the machine move the work, and you will break needles less often. Don't try to force it to move.
Nice work, I might have also sewn the soles on, but they will be easy enough to fix if they come loose

Did the Luna template come with the contours and straps template?
Nope, I made those up :)
Can you please tell me what kind of string you use for your sewing
Great work !!
Thanks!

Can't seem to find the rubber sole material. Where did you get it?
how high do you leave the thimble?
Did you have an idea how to make kit work with a pedal i was thinking to use golf kart pedal ?
I bought a sewing machine pedal but never wired it up. I think they are basically potentiostats, so wouldn't be too hard to wire that into the PWM generator (which uses a potentiostat under the knob). But yeah, never got around to doing it myself :)
Where did you get the pattern/template?
Genuine leather is the one. They barely use it nowadays.
Now it is Nov 2020 any changes you would make?
Not really, they have held up well! I might have used a thicker piece of leather for the straps... they have stretched a little bit. But otherwise the flip flops are still doing great, still wearing them :)
@@BreakingTaps thanks. working on a design here in Nashville hope to have one going by spring thanks again for the great video
This is super cool man, I really like this channel. What song is this?

Hi what is the name of your arm sander and sewing machine? Is the machine a manual or electric machine?
Manual machine, goes by a variety of names but if you search for "leather patcher" you'll probably find it. Something like this: www.aliexpress.com/item/32997384879.html

Didn't finish the edges?
I'm really terrible at burnishing, and was too lazy to get an appropriate dye 😅
I want this how to buy
Sorry, I don't make these for sale... just made one pair for myself :)
