Happy Sunday Anne, you have climbed to 209 Subscribers! First up its a commonly accepted myth that the 84mm Tinker Small was MacGyver's most used SAK, it was in fact the 74mm Red Executive & is clearly seen in the opening credits from episode 14 until the end of the first few MacGyver series. The Tinker Small was his 2nd most used SAK & I have to disappoint you in that he used the version available at the time in the 1980's & not the current model, his version had the Phillips with the can opener slit in it (it was also on the old 91mm Tinker & several other models with back layer Philips screwdrivers ). I don't have either a 84mm or 91mm Tinker as I am not a fan of back layer Philips screwdrivers & prefer the inline Philips such as found on the Explorer, Spartan Lite, Huntsman Lite & Climber Lite I have a fair number of the discontinued models & don't intend to buy any more with the exception of maybe one or two of the 85mm Evolution models. Since you have young kids, I would add to my recommendation that you give your kids 58mm Classic SD's when they are a few years older, that you buy & hold for them some of the discontinued SAK's such as the Ambassador & the Executive for when the are 10-12 years old & more responsible, I myself was allowed to buy an 84mm Bantam out of my pocket money when I was 10. The only 130mm RangerGrip model I own is the one handed opening RG79 & I keep it unused as an 'Emergency Situation' knife along with a 111mm slide lock Outrider & a Buck 110 folding hunter, these being large bladed & bulky knives unsuitable for pocket carry. Holy cow the Spartan light has an inline Phillips? I didn't realize that! I'm going to pin this comment at the top because it corrects a mistake I made. I am really sorry that I got that wrong and I didn't really do the research I just kind of believed what I had heard. I apologize everyone! After I read your comment I went and bought the Ambassadors. I've already got Swiss army knife juniors (? The one with the rounded blade) for next year. :) I really want it 111 mm knife, but I'm afraid that I'm going to find out that it is essentially the same thing is a Swiss champ but harder to carry. And if I want a longer saw I already have the ranger grip 79!
@@thevineclimber The one, two & even three layer 111mm models are longer but weigh less than a 91mm Swiss Champ because it has all those layers of stainless steel tools & back springs as well as multiple aluminum liners. My preferred 111mm carry are the 2 layer Picnicker / Nomad types (which are basically longer bladed locking Spartans) & the 3 layer Forester which adds a saw. IMO having a big sturdy locking blade & a longer & and more ergonomic / contoured handle makes cutting tasks that much easier.
Great video! I'm loving your channel. I believe the Midnite Minichamp is also on the chopping block, which is a shame because I think it's keychain EDC perfection.
So glad I've found your channel! I've carried the little keychain model for about 40 years, now. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your episodes. I've been interested in blade sharpening since I was a kid. I've used bothe the KME and Work Sharp systems - but recently invested in the TSPROF KO-3. Hoping you might have some sharpening/blade care & maintenance episodes? Thanks for these...
I love to talk about knife sharpening, but not because it's something I'm good at! I should get one of these systems that you are talking about. Then I could make it really straightforward and It will always work. But somehow I have not been able to let go of the romanticism of some sort of free hand sharpening. And of course I made the mistake of watching all of the excellent videos by @ProjectFarm on the matter. Actually now that I look at this, I see that I did not finish the video that included your new system! Guess I'm off to do that now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi Anne, Greetings from Amsterdam! I've been a SAK enthousiast for about four decades now. The discontinuation of so many Victorinox models has prompted me to add to my small collection: 1: Midnite minichamp 2: Excelsior 3: Excelsior Alox 4: Cybertool S 5: Traveler Lite 6 Evo s101 7: Evogrip s18 8: Locksmith 9: Hunter XS Cheers, and thanks for all the great content
Thank you! This is a great list of things I can consider - and others as well! Thanks for letting us know you are from Amsterdam! That's really cool. :)
That's great; so glad you are here! I think that the high quality, relatively low price, and even the discontinuations contribute to their collectability... Thanks for commenting!
Had to nab a Cybertool Lite while I could. First with the “Lite”.. surprisingly bright! The newer version of the module at least. I can’t speak for the old grey ones. Love that knife, it’s my new EDC!
The Ambassador & Executive are great for cutting apples. The main blade is long enough to cut an apple in four parts, and the lack of height of this blade makes it perfect for the curvy cut to take out the core. Plus you can carry it during a flight within the EU, due to the main blade being below 60 mm. Happy to have an Executive!
I just found your channel. I enjoyed the content and simple format of this video. Like some others on here, I panic-bought a tinker small, and will probably seek out others on the discontinued list. I agree with your choices. I was surprised to see the Classic on the list. I still need to pick up an Ambassador and Executive (mine is broken sadly). Keep up the great content. Subscribed!
LOL I did a lot worse than you and panic-bought an XLT... I think you deserve a tinker small, and it was a good reward you gave yourself for something nice you did. There's, how's that for reframing your purchasing decision? Thanks so much for watching and subscribing!
Great video! When I saw the first posts about this on fb, I just had to get me some 84s: 2x Tinker small, 2x Sportsman (w/ and w/o ring) and 2x Tourist (w/ and luckily also w/o ring). Almost got the Executive as well, but decided against it because of the missing bottle opener...
Nice collection! I love that you got 2 of each. Hehe and everyone knows it's not a multitool if it does not have a bottle opener! But still, the executive is a classic!!
I live in the UK, and all of these models are still on the Victorinox AG website here and available ! It maybe the case they are clearing out stock? I like the 84mm tourist and sportsman models but usually carry a cadet in the smaller models!
Ooh, that's good news! There is always the possibility that this is not true; I would say 15% chance. Many of them are available at Victorinox US - but not the Executive. If the Executive is available new there, I have an Ebay or Etsy business idea for you!! Thanks for the good info!
For me, the most disappointing items on the list are the 58mm (not 54 btw) ones. I currently have the Midnite Manager on my keys and I like the little pen! I also carry a Victorinox Compact as part of my everyday carry, and while the scales have a pen, I typically reach for the smaller knife as the pen is quicker to deploy. I do own many of the 58mm and 91mm knives, and I think that many people either don't realize how many 58mm knives are/were out there. It also doesn't help that many of the 58mm ones get just as, and even more, expensive than the 91mm ones! I also have many opinions about Victorinox, such as availability of scales, different types of steels, etc. I almost always put on Plus scales on my 91mm knives. Especially since it's such an easy thing to do! (And thankfully there are sellers of Plus scales on eBay and Etsy) But, given the volume that Victorinox produces, I do understand why they tend to be more traditional than many knife makers. (Although, it makes me wish that Wegner was still a separate brand.) I think if I had one opinion that could become reality is for Victorinox to open an actual "custom shop" option where more design-your-own options would be available. I'm sure the prices would be higher, but I think there are many that would be willing to pay that higher price to get just the knife they want.
Oh my gosh, how embarrassing! Thank you for correcting that!! The reason it took me so long to buy a manager is because it was only about 2/3 the price of the Swiss Champ, and I found that hard to do. But the manager seems worth it if you can avoid the comparison. Yes, I'm with you on the customs shop! They could even bring in different steels from time to time to keep people coming back! I'm sad to see the signature go, too. I gave a ton of them as Christmas gifts last year. The manager is a huge loss, but I think the midnight manager may be stocking around... let's hope!
@@thevineclimber As an American, I have an excuse for messing up Metric numbers! I am happy that the 58mm lineup isn't being completely (or almost completely) wiped out, unlike some of the other sizes/models. But, it's still disappointing to see models I like go away. (Fortunately, I have them already.) While I like the Classic SD, the addition of the small combo tool is one of those tools that once you use it, it's hard to go back to one that doesn't have it! Thanks for a great video discussing the discontinued models! I really enjoyed it and a place to discuss the situation!
Lol yeah I think there are more out there - some of them comment on the channel! I actually think I would categorize myself more as a multi tool person though.
Thanks for the clarification,do you think that multi tools are a stand alone category or do you think they should be included in the knife category?just brainstorming. Thanks
I have to admit I went and panic bought the 111mm Locksmith. The 08 Soldier is probably the Swiss Army Knife best suited for me. The only thing I miss when I carry it (vs my Swiss Tool Spirit) is the pliers and metal file. So the locksmith partially addresses that. I’m also saddened to see that all 85mm knives will be discontinued next year. I love these models! My favorite was already discontinued some years ago, the Evolution S111.
Several people have mentioned they really like the locksmith! Looks like the S11 was like a tinker small, Delemont style, and with a locking blade. I hope you got one before it disappeared! Thank you very much for watching and for your comment!
Hello, just found out your channel! Also thanks for the heads up. Just bought the Locksmith and the Evolution S54 Grip before they disappear from my country's store forever. Gotta save up for the hefty Champ XLT, CyberTool Lite and the Midnite Mini Champ.
A lot of the models from the list already gone. They're either being sold on Ebay or Facebook marketplace for a jack up price, or you have to import them. I do have a feeling something is wrong within Victorinox, never before have they discontinued so many models at a same time, let alone almost all the Wenger models.
LOL If I were cynical I'd say you must be the guy who's selling one on eBay for a 130 bucks with over a day to go on the auction! If I get myself one, I promise I will review the H-E-double hockey sticks out of it! Also, I'm totally just joking. If I got it I would have to take it to different altitudes and see if it's accurate! All in the name of science. Come to think about it, that might involve some video of me getting arrested by the TSA or something!
@@thevineclimber LOL id never sell mine. The alarm function is extremely useful as im a no phone upstairs bloke. the temp and forecast dont work as i keep it in a pocket not a sheth. It stays on the night stand, I mostly carry a mini champ in the pocket and a swiss champ on a pocket hanger.
You are totally right and that was a big miss on my list! But may I say, it is really super awesome of you to say so! Stop by any time you feel like slumming it again. 😃
Hey Anne 👊 cool video lady, I reviewed the Walker about 3 months ago. Trying to get the Executive, managed to get the Sportman and Excelsior, both will be continued - 2 bladed only with the Excelsior and the Sportman without the keyring, I believe.. Thanks for sharing, Atb Gus👍
LOL I know! I'm so happy that you liked my video. :) I had to go back to remind myself, but I remembered it immediately because you can taste the red!! And the "snap" makes you laugh. Sure signs of an addiction! Thanks so much for the info - is the Excelsior one blade going to continue, do you think? What about the two-bladed alox? I can't figure it out from Vic Spain because even with the assistance of the translation feature, he talks so quickly and uses so many phrases that I can't understand. Thanks so much for watching the video and commenting! 😀 Watch Gadget Gus review the Walker here: th-cam.com/video/-G4IaCvq4q4/w-d-xo.html
@@thevineclimber wowzee... your cool, thanks for the shout out 'link' 🤗 The one bladed, cellidor, I think will discontinue... We need more women in this community, keep staying awsome sister, God bless 🙏 Atb Gus 👍
Anne, the problem with the 84mm is no scissors. According SAKWiki scissors haven’t been available since 2005 or 2008. I heard it because the machine broke down and it was cost prohibitive to repair/replace it. I also heard that a Tinker Small X or Super Tinker Small was one of Victorinox most requested items. I speculate they have been running on stocked parts for awhile and that is why these are going away. As far as the 111mm and Wenger lines, rumor has it that Victorinox is bringing back the Wenger brand name for those models and I certainly hope that is true. Thank you so much for your content. Look forward to future installments and God Bless.
Nice video! I'm glad I bought the Walker! I call mine the Woods Walker. I'm a big user of the saw, but I set a limit of 1.6oz for pocket carry. The Walker weighs 1.6oz and gives me the saw!
@@thevineclimber Yep. My EDC is a Case Peanut, and the Walker is just a little larger and heavier, making it useful in the woods, while the Peanut is more of an around the house knife. I build wooden slingshots, and the saw works well for cutting an occasional fork I spot while out walking. I'm going to be doing a video on adding utility to the Walker and will let you know. I also subscribed.
Hey thanks for the view and the comment! I really enjoyed your video on selecting the peanut - check it out our here, everybody! th-cam.com/video/-lf4eLUvwHQ/w-d-xo.html
Originally marketed as the Victorinox Lumberjack or Plumber it was discontinued only to be reintroduced in 2015 as the Walker with the addition of scale tools. I am guessing Victorinox figures that the market is flooded enough that most of the buyers / collectors have at least one, or maybe they don’t want to produce 84mm saws anymore. I worked in the construction industry as an electrician but the walker or the earlier versions were not around at that time or I would have carried one for work. The little saw would have come in very handy on a work site and the Walker is very pocketable. I probably would have had several in my collection as it is I just have one. I did buy another Tinker small, I have a used one from Ebay with blue nylon (very durable) scales that I carry a lot. My biggest problem with Victorinox discontinuing knives is there value increases to the point you don’t want to carry them anymore so they sit in a drawer collecting dust.
Hitch! That is an EXCELLENT point! I was thinking that the economics of this decision are probably more complex than I realized - when your Tinker Small is too valuable to carry, though, you will probably go and buy a Tinker! So here's a question for you - as an electrician, is the electrician blade actually useful for common electrician tasks? I ask because I'm surprised (and thrilled!) that the Walker is useful.
@@thevineclimber I didn’t have one of the Victorinox electrician’s knives when I was working, we mainly used utility knives with replaceable blades. Contractor’s supplied the blades which eliminated the need for sharpening blades, Stripping insulation off wires especially large wires is hard on blades. I do think the electrician’s blade Victorinox makes is a good design. Again Victorinox has discontinued a couple good models with that blade which would be useful in the construction industry. There was a 84mm electrician’s knife, also they made a 93mm alox model that included a wood saw. The wood saw along with wood, would also cut plastic pipe and probably drywall in a pinch. Although drywall would dull the blade pretty quickly if you tried to cut a lot of it.On another subject I was watching one of Felix Immler’s videos and in the comments some one mentioned that the can opener can be slid over the valve of an oxygen cylinder to open it. You would have to put it over in the right direction so it didn’t close on you. The 111mm models might work better because you would have more leverage.
Oh my gosh, If this thing works as an oxygen wrench, I will be so happy!!! That Alox version you mentioned sounds ideal. I really love the Harvester. Plus I really can't see electricians pulling out a toothpick in the middle of the job for anything but maybe I am missing something there.
I would say that the walker was intended for use by the day hiker but a lot of people go out for several days or a couple of weeks so would carry a larger one like the huntsman or ranger personality I've always liked the more compact Swiss army knifes as I don't like carrying one that's to big or heavy when camping or hiking
Yes, the Walker is such an appealing model. It is just the sleekest toolset when you need a saw, obviously; it just can't be beat. I am happy that I have one, but I wish I had more of them because now I'm afraid to lose it! One of the things that makes SAKs so great is that many of them are priced affordably so you don't have to worry about them.
I think the sportsman is supposed to stay but the one with no key ring is supposed to go away. As far as I know the waiter is staying and it's 1 of the few smaller versions that is. But it's such a great collection of tools for the kitchen. Do you carry anything in the corkscrew? I ordered myself a manager because of all of the people mentioning it in the comments. I always wanted one but always thought it was too expensive. I bet that's the reason it's going away because a lot of people thought like me - for $40 you can get a bigger SAK!
Alrightee, Anne, here's what I've bought from the list: Classic (not SD) 74mm Executive (I chose not to get the Ambassador as I have a 74mm Alox Moneyclip with the same tools) Excelsior Walker (The on-line prices have been going crazy on this one, but I found one for $23.99. I feel very lucky) Rangergrip 61 with green/black scales. (I returned the red/black one they sent by mistake) Evolution 11 Evolution S101 (It has a very sweet small clip point blade) Evogrip 14 Evowood 14 (I now have 3 different style grips on the Delemonts) I will rotate most of these knives into my EDC. I was thinking of getting a Sportsman, but I decided to trim my list and the 85mm Evolution S101 is similar in size and tools. Last December I noticed Victorinox didn't list the Angler, Cybertool M and Evolution S13 in their on-line catalog. Thinking they are discontinued I bought one of each. My wife thinks I've gone a little nuts, so I bought her a Sapphire Nailclip to match her Spartan. She also has a Signature on her keychain.
ROFL That is EPIC!! The thing is, these are great knives. I'm so glad you got the green and black Rangergrip 61. I felt bad they'd sent you the wrong one! I have had my eye on that Evolution S101 for the same reason. I LOVE that clip point blade! Your wife is one lucky lady!! It cracks me up that you were like, oh, she thinks I'm off my rocker. I know what to do! I'll buy her a knife, too! Does she like her gifts?
@@thevineclimber Thank you... I took another chance and ordered a Rangergrip 61 from a different seller on Amazon (Pure Luxury). Again, the picture was red/blk but the description said green. I was relieved when the green version arrived. Amazon has a generous return policy and I returned the red/blk knife. I've noticed many SAKs on eBay are increasing in price to the point of being ridiculous. I figured since Victorinox is discontinuing a bunch of them, I'd better get the ones I want before they are priced out of my range. Yes, my wife likes and uses her SAKs. She was looking a little too intently at my Nailclip 580 with white scales, so I ordered a Sapphire one to match her Spartan... The price was just right, too. When she sees me watching one of your videos She wonders what I will order next. 😁😁😁
Thank you for the video! Like most I just stumbled on here so glad I did. Sorry it took 20 takes to put this video out. I just made the decision to carry the small tinker from an Alox electrician since retiring and enjoy the lighter smaller more functions EDC knife for normal tasks. I carry the escourt on my keys because the blade opens opposite the key ring, where the classic the blade opens to the key ring. The blade geometry on the 85mm knives really sharpens nicely as compared to larger and smaller SAK knives. Of course I do take it to the extreme. Just completely satisfying getting a knife razor sharp. Probably need a backup now! Jeff
Hi Jeff, I'm glad you stumbled over this video, and thanks for your comment! I keep wanting to say that that 7 mm difference from the tinker to the tinker small should not make any difference, but it does! I struggle to define exactly what it is. That is a good tip on the Escort! I knew the Rambler and the Manager didn't have that problem, but I never thought of the Escort!
@@thevineclimber Anne, thank you so much for your response! I know what you mean about the subtle differences in size and feel of a knife. Yet different people still can have their favorites in all size ranges and tools offered. I would never consider carrying a swiss champ as an EDC but several do. For the last 50 years I have carried every kind of pocket knife, a lot of times for the cool factor. But experience has taught me the best EDC is what is comfortable to carry with the tools most valuable to you. Scissors is a staple for most people, but for me, I rarely use unless I'm in the kitchen and I have a pair there for that purpose. I had to make the decision between the 93mm alox and the small tinker 85 mm. 10 mm is a big difference in the pocket and the girth and smooth celidor scales are more comfortable in my hand. The big thing here we both can agree on was the great variety SAK offered and how cutting 39 models is very disappointing! Please keep creating your great content! Thanks, Jeff
Oh yes - variety is the spice of life! I laugh when I think that other people use more creativity to get more usefulness out if their average-sized SAK than the giant SAK that I carry! Oh well, we're all in the Sak sIblinghood. 😀
Great Video Anne, (hope this is the correct way of spelling your name) I love the XLT and it used to ride with me when i used to cycle. It was an invaluable tool to have on me. I live in the UK where only non locking blades less than 3 inches are permitted to carry. I then went over to the Swiss champ. No finally i have found the Cybertool L which fits my needs perfectly. Keep up with the great videos 🙂
Oh that's so awesome thank you so much for the comment and the view! The XLT is really pretty and I realized when I was looking at the Swiss champ and it didn't really look big to me at all, I thought I might be OK to move up! But oh my goodness the price! The price! Is it the driver on it that is particularly good on the motorcycle? Or is it a bicycle? In which case I can see why it would be useful because I feel like I had a bike tool that had these kinds of bits in it.
@VineClimber it's the hook I used for the bicycle when the chain came off. Believe it was valued when I'm in office attire and not wanting oily hands lol. I literally don't leave the house without my cybertool L and currently a kizer wpk 😊
Absolutely agree with your first three and have carried all three at different times, only recently discovering the Walker. Also agree that 84-85mm knives are great, equal utility but more pocketable. I can't understand why the classic and manager are also on the list. Victorinox market research seems poor, for example, why they haven't produced a "Cadet X" or "Bantam X" with scissors is beyond me.
Ooh I would love that! I heard that they no longer have ascissors-making machine for that size at the factory... I'm excited to hear that a lot of folks like the 84 and 85 mm size, but I am really sad to see the 74mm size go like this. Thank you for watching and thanks for your comment!!
@@thevineclimber I've heard that also, but, in the land of tool and die makers and machinists with modern tech like computer controlled machining, how hard would it be to build one?
I really want the Gardener but it is already way too expensive! The price almost tripled overnight when the list came out! Not interested in the XLT. Already have an Ambassador Executive Walker. Tinker, Small Tourist
I decided to get my sister a Gardener before they were announced as being discontinued. Finally found one in Japan, of all places! Actually ordered 2, so now there is one for me, too. Can't beat dumb luck. That is one I will bet was actually discontinued earlier, but without an announcement, because they have been so very hard to find. You have an excellent collection of discontinued SAKs. :) Thank you very much for coming by and commenting.
Hi Anne, agree with the Ambassador being one to get. I already have one I picked up used on etsy with camo scales which are like unicorns in 74mm, its also with a crossbow on the blade tang so pretty old. Plus I recently bought a new Moneyclip so I'm covered for that toolset in that size. The other 2 I'd buy are the Manager and the small Tinker as they're just good toolsets in a compact package so good carry knives. I'm not a collector though, I just need 10 SAKs (at the moment) for EDC, obviously. Actually I think I am a collector but just in denial, but I do use all mine. Oh heck yes and the Walker what was I thinking I've only got 5 SAKs with woodsaws. Seriously just buy them all none of them are bad.
Yes; I agree - I should have listed the manager. If you are in favor of keeping the tinker small, would you also favor keeping the tourist as a Spartan small?
@@thevineclimber Of course in fact I would be in favour of keeping them all as well as re-introducting obsolete models, particularly 84mm models with scissors such as the Voyager. However I don't work for Victorinox so it's just one guy's opinion. It's a medium sized family business in a village so they have to make choices which make sense for them as a business.
That's a very interesting point. And I'm sure that they don't want their watches, luggage, and cutlery to be having to support the Swiss army knife side of things. I always think of them as a giant multinational corporation, but I have heard before that they are really not a big company. You know that point makes me really feel a lot less irritated about all of these cuts!
I'm especially sorry to hear that the Delemont 85mm knives will be discontinued. I don't need another Swiss Army knife, but I will probably be getting several of the 3 or 4 layer 85mm with a saw and/or scissors.
I’ve never loved the Delemont line so it doesn’t hurt me to see it go. I don’t own an Ambassador model but I would. It’s a much better length than the Classic. The orange peeler is a goofy tool because the knife blade already cuts oranges. I own a Walker and keep it in my survival kit. I replaced the toothpick with a Firefly ferro rod. No opinion on the Tinker small.
My father carried an Executive since I was born. I snagged a new one to give it to him to replace his old one, but he didn't want it--just just wanted his knife.
That is so interesting! I'm sure he would love the new one of the old one were lost. I wonder about this. There is something going on psychologically here I would guess. I have felt the same way. When I had to send my Swiss champ in for a repair, I actually bought a replacement Swiss champ. But the new one feels like a stranger by comparison. I was SO happy to get mine back; I had real positive emotions for it!
@@thevineclimber That is definitely the case. For me, that knife is the explorer that I carried for...around 12 years straight. It isn't my only SAK I carry, but it's "the" one.
Gardener: I have owned it for years. It is outside in the garden, ready to be used. Especially for spontaneous garden work. (Oh, let me cut this twig, it’s hanging into the path. Lemmi grab a salad… etc.). Every tool has been used. The scissors: Not strong enough to cut the thick roses twigs though… I love the Gardener.
I'm so glad to hear that! I am sad is being discontinued, but I ordered a couple (one for me and one for a gift) propped to finding out about the discontinuation. Your comment reads like springtime poetry.
I used to have the victorinox Swiss x but the original and it was engraved with boy scouts America and my name given to me by a girlfriend that passed away, I lent it to a co-worker to open a box and he claims to lost it. Put it this way I was rather upset and devastated.
I got the tourist because 1/4 inch makes a big difference in the pocket of a lot of pants. same for the tinker small. I like the sportsman because of the nail file for gifts . woe is Me. Thank you for the infro. Now I have to panic buy for grandkids there are only 5 so I may not go bankrupt.
Lol! Yes, it is a shame. That size knife is the best. They would sell better, I am certain, in physical stores where people could see the difference. Good news is that the sportsman with keyring is starting around, as far as I know! Lol have fun panic buying!
My favorit SAK is the Motorist, a long discontinued model from the 90s. I regret not to have a second one. The Deluxe Tinker is in my opinion a tool worth a consideration.
This is a very good comment for all of us who have a favorite that is on the "probably going away" list. I mean if someone's favorite is the tinker small and you can get 1 for 30 bucks, even if you don't end up using it you'll be able to sell it for 40 or 50 bucks later on I bet. From what I see of the Victorinox motorist on SAKwiki, the deluxe tinker is similar except for not having a saw and a small screw driver on the back.
I literally just bought a slightly overpriced Walker just now. It was $35 but with shipping it came to about $45. But imo absolutely worth it. Yes I could pay less and get MORE tools from the Huntsman. But as I find the Walker more appealing. It's basically a saw and large knife and that complements my Victorinox Rambler perfectly. The Walker also seems perfect for camping or hiking too.
You are so right. Rambler plus Walker. I'm a believer!! The Walker really is a great knife. It's just wonderful. I'm thinking - maybe manager plus walker? Then I get the pen...
@@thevineclimber Manager works great too! Midnight Manager too if you want a flashlight too! Walker is just a really awesome tool for the right person! :P
Victorinox shouldn't have discontinued the Manager and I think it's definitely worth having. I know that in similarity it's between the Rambler and the Midnight Manager, and they're getting rid of models that are too similar to each other (or maybe too useful so if you want one in the future you will need two other models from them to make the one you want - the Swiss are clever...) but the Manager has the perfect size to function ratio for urban keychain EDC (not too minimalist like the Classic, doesn't have unnecessary things like the bulky MiniChamp's orange peeler and cuticle pusher). I decided on getting one a year ago after weeks of browsing all the SAKs on the website so choosing the Manager was not a coincidence, dear Victorinox. If anything the Midnight Manager could have been discontinued because the last time I would have been impressed with the LED was at the age of 10. I rather bought an Olight i1R2 EOS, that in combination with the Manager is perfect for urban EDC.
You have such a good point about the Manager being midway between the Rambler and the Midnight Manager. The thing about the MM - you also lose the tweezers! The MM right now is also 30% more expensive at some retailers!
Yes! The Tinker small is incredible. By making it smaller with the same tools, they have increased the usefulness per iz or mm. I can't help but think it's worth it.
My List: 74mm Executive with black scales, the retailer has increased the price $8 since I ordered it a week ago. Evolution S101, I especially like the small clip point blade. EvoGrip 14 EvoWood 14 (I wanted an example of each of the different scales on the 85mm Delemonts) Rangergrip 61, the description said "green/black" but the one I received is red/black. I'm not going to return or exchange it as it's not worth the trouble. After seeing the innovative way the scissor handles fold into your RangerGrip Gardener I was tempted to get one with pliers but the cost was too much for a tool I may never use. I may get an 84mm Sportsman.
Aah, did you get that rangergrip 61 from Amazon US? I saw that there, taunting me with its description, but with pictures of a red and black one... How're the Evowood scales? Smooth? Nice? I kinda want one but I can't imagine getting them wet is ok, and if I use it how could I prevent that? Yeah, I feel the same way about the pliers version...
@@thevineclimber Yes, that's probably the one. I just received a reply from the seller. They said the color description is wrong and the SKU# is for a red/black one. Darn it! The EvoWood scales are smooth and the Victorinox shield is etched very nicely. It looks like the scales are treated with something, but I wouldn't let them stay wet for an extended period for fear of damaging them. No care instructions came with the knife but I'll occasionally treat the wood with a food grade mineral oil.
This came up on my recommendations for some reason and hey I enjoyed it! The Walker is definitely an interesting knife... I used to buy a lot of these knives but now I am down to only buying what I absolutely 100% feel like I 'need' which is a Victorinox Handyman and a Victorinox Compact. Have you heard of the swiss army knife channel 'Felix Immler'?
Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I admire you as a minimalist with Swiss army knives. I would like to be like that, except that I started this channel by accident! The Handyman - I think that's a Swiss Champ minus the Phillips and magnifying glass? Very thorough tool. I love Felix Immler's channel! 💖 "Hello TH-cam!" "Ciao!"
Some more observations... Vic discontinued the Cybertool M and they are discontinuing the Cybertool S, Cybertool lite and the XLT which also has the Cybertool screwdriver/bits. Only the Cybertool L and Swiss Champ XXL will remain with those special screwdriver bits. Both of these tools are a handful.
Are you sure? Where did you hear this? This would be a dramatic bit of news because I think the cybertool M is very popular and since the cybertool light and S are going away that would be terrible!
@@thevineclimber Yes, dropping the "M" from their line IS terrible. I didn't see the Cybertool M (aka 34) listed on the Victorinox USA website in early December, that's why I quickly bought one while they are available. I think the combination of tools and size make it the ideal Cybertool. EDIT: The cybertool M is the same width as a Champion Plus.
“M” is staying “lite” and “s” are going. I actually thought they were going to phase out the “L”…In any instance got both the “L” and most recently the “Lite” love these models as edc!
Recently I've taken notice of some soon-to-be discontinued Victorinox Ranger 179 and their XLT which I managed to buy new for a bargain £120, so these 'new old stock' have a fascination for me, if I can buy one whose price is seriously slashed, but it means being quick! Wenger was bought up by Victorinox, but I grabbed the chance of buying Wenger's EvoGrip s54 for a terrific reduced price of just £70 almost 3 years ago. This has since become sold by Victorinox for a mighty £147 which, IMO is criminal! This why my daughter's call me Hawkeye. 😂 Wenger's EvoGrip s54 is a magnificent multitool that includes a compass, an adjustable set of pliers and even a chisel, sadly missing on the new all-singin' all-dancing' £147 ripoff. I bought that from PocketDump way-back then. Verdict? You can never have enough multitools especially if they are by Victorinox.
Lol what a great post, Hawkeye!!! Awesome finds... I didn't want to be a collector but here we are - and I really do enjoy them! Thanks again for the interesting and fun story of bargains won!
I prefer swissors beside blade and unavoidable bottle/can opener in my pocket Swiss armee knive (SAK), as they are made for unexpected tasks on the go, not at home/office/work where you may find all tools in large a SAK can have. Your SAK may safe traffic & time as things do not to be brought somewhere (home/office/workshop) to work on them there and brought back again. When leaving home I carry a city-stylish bag pack containing repair tool with pliers & bit driver multi tool (call it leatherman clone or whatever) and other stuff (extra glasses, pen & notebook, laptop computer, smart phone etc.).
Lol The unavoidable bottle / can opener! So funny! I really love that you brought up that Swiss army knives are meant for unexpected tasks. Certainly they are meant for tasks on the go although I use mine as much at home as anywhere else because it's in my apron pocket, so I don't find myself procrastinating. But the fact that they're meant for unexpected tasks is really important to me. I want a large enough tool set to where I will have something that lets me solve my problem when I discover that I have a problem! I am always interested in seeing what people carry. Sometimes it gets repetitive but when somebody has a cool idea I get so excited!
I have several of the 111mm and 130mm knives, but they all have serrated blades and a Phillips... neither of which I'm particularly fond of. I wouldn't be surprised if Victorinox discontinues ALL of the 130mm knives in the near future, so, I had better get one of them with the corkscrew and the non-serrated blade before they all disappear.
It took me a while to respond to this video because as soon as I read it I went to Victorinox in Amazon and knife center and started browsing around about what I need to buy. I really need some 111 mm knives. Need is such a funny word but nonetheless I'm thinking maybe I should get something with an opener layer and a corkscrew and a blade and I would try using it in the kitchen as my main kitchen knife.
Yeah, Evo grips! So cool. And the Evolution 23 [insert chef kissing fingers motion here]. Ranger grip 78 (I think) is my camping knife.i live the saw. These really are a good part of Victorinox's line up!!
@@thevineclimber sadly enough, they will have been a good part of the lineup. Wonder if Vic will go down the same route as they did with the Hunter Pro - discontinuing them, releasing the "Evoke" (same knife essentially)
Wow they're discontinuing the Tinker small 😢... probably one of my favorites just because it fits so well in my fifth pocket and I like the Tinker line so much, all of them. But the small I always carry and sometimes forget it's even there. Now I may have to retire it to my collection drawer for fear of losing it if it's been discontinued lol.
Yes, it seems very cool. I have thought about getting one many times. My brain has not yet completely transitioned to the idea that I would be a collector.
I love Victorinox but they do some stupid things like you can’t buy new scales. You have to send your knife in to get them replaced that cost time an shipping. Also I would own all three of the military knives the Swiss mill. Issue the German issue an the U.S. mill. Issue if they didn’t have the serrated main blade. What part of the fact that Americans don’t like serrated blades do they not understand?
Those things are a little weird. I have bought scales from Etsy - store name Messerspezi - and they seem authentic, but I haven't replaced them yet. I'm really glad you are commenting on the military knives - there is a lack of content about them, IMO! Pardon my lack of knowledge, but are they the same as each other except for the scales? Thank you for watching and commenting! 😀
@@thevineclimber Thank you so much. Yes all of the mill. Knives are the same except the scales. I really want all of them but I absolutely hate serrated blades except some kitchen knives an the Dexter Russel tiger , a big fixed blade for breaking down big salt water fish. When you replace your scales , soak them in hot to the touch water. They won’t crack. To get the old ones off slip a very thin blade in between the old scales an the frame an gently pry up an they will pop off. Soak the whole knife in hot water if you don’t want to damage the scales you are replacing. There are Y.T. Videos showing how to remove them.
I also don't like the serrated main blades on some of the 111mm knives. I used my Work Sharp knife sharpener to remove the serrations from a Trailmaster. It did it quickly and looks like it has a factory edge.
Lol that should be a video of its own!!!!!! 1. Show your products in use for different things on your website. If you go there you have to actually know what you want before you get there! It's terrible! 2. Show different people using your tools for different things. I was amazed when I found out how many people keep a Swiss army knife in their kitchen specifically. I never thought of that myself but Victorinox could totally advertise that! 3. If everybody on the entire planet uses millimeters to describe the length of your knives, don't describe them on your website for American audiences in inches! I mean obviously I can do the conversion myself but why should I have to? 4. We need a "I'm not the lipstick type, I'm more the Chapstick type" moment!
@@thevineclimber And as you said, choosing the right pouch for one's knife on their website is just a nightmare. The last time I bought one it was too small. I used it for another knife and I used an old pouch for the new knife. I thought I had choosen the right one but obviously something went wrong :)
Yes it's not good. Someone pointed out that they are actually quite a small company. And really they've never had to sell their products before because they've been popular without any apparent advertising for decades.
Lol That's funny that you point that out because my original reply to you, which I deleted, said that I was going to try to move to Switzerland and get a job as their marketing director. Because even though I don't know how to market anything I knew how to list which Swiss army knives would fit in the pouch on the website. I guess I will put that plan to rest, though, in light of your new information!
I am equally obsessed with these knives, and am sad to see so many go away. I heard the manager is going away also. This is the one i have with me most often since its on my keychain
Yes; I have the Rambler because it was cheaper, but I would prefer to have the pen! That is a very beloved knife, and ALSO on Jon Gadget's list of cool SAKs. Why, Victorinox, why are you doing this to us? (Assuming this is all true.)
@@thevineclimber Actually stocking up on models now as a collector makes sense or even as an investment as the discontinued models will shoot up in price due to rarity, and even production models are getting more expensive.
"In addition to stocks, bonds, and gold, I have now diversified into Swiss Army knives." I like the sound of that! I especially like the sound of that because it sounds like a good reason to buy a bunch of Swiss army knives! #SAKexcuses
Yes! I ❤️ Rangergrip 79!! Very to-the-point knife for camping purposes for me. Easy to add on a fixed blade, 91mm sak, and kitchen knife if you want, but I go minimalist style and rarely to someplace that I could not hike out that night if I needed to, so barring losing it, it is good for me. But I'm not a badass
For me Swiss Champ XLT's discontinuation is a sad news. I love using it. In fact I missed a couple of tools on it, viz. LED light and a universal wrench, so I had written to Victorinox as a suggestion to add them and suggested a name "Swiss Champ XLT lite". I hope they replace XLT with something similar (maybe with the Lite 😉 )
Oh yes, I hope so, too!! There IS the possibility that they are reworking some of these models. I'm actually really glad to see your comment because I feel a little buyer's regret having bought the xlt. I'm trying it out as my everyday carry. It's a bit on the big side but a few times I've been glad to have things that aren't on the champ! I hope I end up liking it as much as you do!
I just saw a video by *Nikos Doulas NicGyver* using the flathead screwdriver on the 4 sided multi tool bit from one of the Swiss cards to help lift up the tools on a Victorinox SAK. He gives many helpful tips on how to use Victorinox SAK tools unconventionally. Type his name in TH-cam search and also search: *HACK:"Access Tool" for Swiss Army Knives-Multitools.* He shows the tip near the 1:15 timestamp in video.
No. I cut myself today, and that hurts, but this nail is worse!! Oh, I forgot. Felix Immler says to use the toothpick. The little crooked top does kind of fit in there. It does look dumb, though! Thanks for the view and the comment!! 😀
Wish I could give more viewpoints on these but I am fairly new to buying SAKs and only have the RangerGrip 58 so far. I might get a Midnight Manager in the future. 😁 I like that it has a light on it, among the other tools in a small package. I do carry a tiny Olight i1r2 but I like having multiple light backups on me. 😉 I think it's endearing to see a lady nerding out on multitools! A rare sight!😁
Oh, that's an interesting one, with the gut blade! It's escaped my notice this far; I had to look it up. Have you taken it hunting yet? I have one of those Olights, too! Very elegant in its simplicity. As far as being a girl, I thought about it, and I actually kinda get it. I like to watch @FranLab because her videos are cool, but women don't do many electronics videos, so I guess that is part of what I like about her channel, too! Thanks so much for the view and the comment!
Yeah, I hear where you are coming from. It's not - it's obvious with about 300 subscribers or so at the time this video was released, but I try to say often that I have no sponsors - and in fact this channel has cost me a small fortune so far! Also, if you think about it, Victorinox would want someone to sell the stuff they are continuing to make. I guess you could shop at Vic Spain's store after watching my video - I'm not sure if he has a store, though! He does have a sponsor in Mexico, though, and one in Spain! Thank you for the comment!
@@thevineclimber (Forcasting alleged/to be discontinued items, by itself, is not just 'innocent' information. And it might contain strategies (specific models to boost it's liquidation - because it's not worth it, or to make it more known and no discontinuation is intended) and counts on people "like you" fulfilling these strategies/biddings... Unless You have a specific disapointment, grief or recommendation I would keep far away from involving. "Just me".)
I can see how some people would find them overrated, but in the whole, they are not overpriced, I think. What gives a better value? I love new ideas and tools.
SAK Girl Nerd.. I Love this video! Do you play with old Wenger tools at all?? I think that people are moving away from "Pocket Knives", and going to "Multi Tools".. = They are so much more "Modern" I guess.. I Still Love a classic Swiss Army Knife though! I carry one with me at all times! Along with my other tools, and have done so since being taught as a Scout.. It is not so much as people are Not going out doors.. Quite the opposite acctualy! In the 80s when I lived up here in the Colorado mountains, I Loved the fact that I was alone up here! Now on the weekends, Tons of people are up here ruining the environment and leaving behind their trash and just killing the area of my home. There are way too many people, and they All want to go outdoors! I can not enjoy my out door back yard, without somebody else being in it litterally! Colorado used to be a nice place, but it is getting crowded here.. California moved here and brought their government with them, unfortunately.. If I had lots of $$ I would love to get one of those ridiculous HUGE 30+ layer tools = For Display Only things! Like this = th-cam.com/video/aWnJg6gfFwY/w-d-xo.html Stupid I know, But Kind of Interesting at the same time as I Love SAKs! A ridiculous WENGER tool! I think that VICTORINOX dod a simmular thing as well. Melora
I don't have either a 84mm or 91mm Tinker as I am not a fan of back layer Philips screwdrivers & prefer the inline Philips such as found on the Explorer, Spartan Lite, Huntsman Lite & Climber Lite
I have a fair number of the discontinued models & don't intend to buy any more with the exception of maybe one or two of the 85mm Evolution models. ATB Steve in Tel Aviv.
I really want it 111 mm knife, but I'm afraid that I'm going to find out that it is essentially the same thing is a Swiss champ but harder to carry.
Lol OK there's now a Workchamp XL in my cart at Heidi Shop. You are a bad influence! Lol
@@thevineclimber Heidi Shop!!! I had never heard of them until now. Ann, you are a bad influence on me. 😁
LOL Blame it on Steve!!
Thanks for the heads-up, I just picked up several Small Tinkers for my collection. Subscribed!
That's great! I'll feel like a jerk if this turns out to be rumor and speculation only!
Hi Anne,
Greetings from Amsterdam!
I've been a SAK enthousiast for about four decades now.
The discontinuation of so many Victorinox models has prompted me to add to my small collection:
1: Midnite minichamp
2: Excelsior
3: Excelsior Alox
4: Cybertool S
5: Traveler Lite
6 Evo s101
7: Evogrip s18
8: Locksmith
9: Hunter XS
Cheers, and thanks for all the great content
Thank you! This is a great list of things I can consider - and others as well!
Thanks for letting us know you are from Amsterdam! That's really cool. :)
Just found you channel. I just started my collection of Victorinox swiss army knifes. Great videos.
That's great; so glad you are here! I think that the high quality, relatively low price, and even the discontinuations contribute to their collectability... Thanks for commenting!
My favorite has been discontinued a long time ago: the Yeoman. Had to build it myself.
You are the second person in a row to comment that they build their own Swiss army knife now! Great skill to have!
So happy to have picked up the walker recently. A wonderful little tool!
Yes, so slim and useful!
Had to nab a Cybertool Lite while I could. First with the “Lite”.. surprisingly bright! The newer version of the module at least. I can’t speak for the old grey ones. Love that knife, it’s my new EDC!
Oh that's good news! Glad there are some still around.
(Although, it makes me wish that Wegner was still a separate brand.)
I think if I had one opinion that could become reality is for Victorinox to open an actual "custom shop" option where more design-your-own options would be available.
Absolutely! Lol the comments section is way better than the video but at least it gives us a marker for starting the conversation!
Hey wow we don't see very many women that are knife nerds.
Keep on keeping on and thank you.
Lol yeah I think there are more out there - some of them comment on the channel! I actually think I would categorize myself more as a multi tool person though.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for watching! I'm sad these models are going away. I'm glad you are still able to get them!
A lot of the models from the list already gone. They're either being sold on Ebay or Facebook marketplace for a jack up price, or you have to import them. I do have a feeling something is wrong within Victorinox, never before have they discontinued so many models at a same time, let alone almost all the Wenger models.
I love the compact
I can't wait to get my hands on one of those!! Thank you.
Walker was the first SAK I purchased and is still my favorite. Love having the saw on such a slim pocket knife.
I KNOW, right? I simply cannot believe they are discontinuing such an amazing tool. There's nothing like it out there that I have found.
Love to see your review of the traveler light x
Oh yes, that is great! A fellow Swiss champ fan, who also has a separate nighttime SAK! 😀
I've been trying to get my hands on the One handed trekker non serrated!!!
Currently, it's on Victorinox 's website!! www.victorinox.com/us/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Large-Pocket-Knives/Trekker/p/0.8463
The manager breaks my heart..all the others..not as much.
Thanks for sharing,

Yes, I wish we had 84mm scissors. ✂️ I wonder if they will bring back cool creative Wenger knives! Berninas for everyone!
Nice video! I'm glad I bought the Walker! I call mine the Woods Walker. I'm a big user of the saw, but I set a limit of 1.6oz for pocket carry. The Walker weighs 1.6oz and gives me the saw!
Yes, and it works well, don't you think?! Very lightweight, and for me, it has all the "big" tools I need.

I do think the electrician’s blade Victorinox
makes is a good design.
I love the Sportman and Waiter. Will those still be around? I keep the Rambler or Manager on my keys.
Alrightee, Anne, here's what I've bought from the list:
Classic (not SD)
74mm Executive (I chose not to get the Ambassador as I have a 74mm Alox Moneyclip with the same tools)
Excelsior
Walker (The on-line prices have been going crazy on this one, but I found one for $23.99. I feel very lucky)
Rangergrip 61 with green/black scales. (I returned the red/black one they sent by mistake)
Evolution 11
Evolution S101 (It has a very sweet small clip point blade)
Evogrip 14
Evowood 14 (I now have 3 different style grips on the Delemonts)
I will rotate most of these knives into my EDC.
LOL That's cool, but I don't want to be the financial ruin of many! coming up soon are some SAKs that may be particularly appreciated by women.
@@thevineclimber Wonderful, I am eagerly awaiting that video.
Good list. Totally agree with you, for such a large and old company, the Victorinox website is Horrible, clumsy, and vague in descriptions.
LOL!! yes, I was just on there tonight, t it is hard to tell the difference between the Swiss Tools !
Thank you for commenting!
The Walker used to be called the Lumberjack. I wish Victorinox had a custom or bespoke line where you could choose what you wanted on your knife.
Hi Jonathan! I also wish that would be the case. I have no idea how much it costs to get someone to mod a Swiss army knife for you.
Probably very expensive and not factory finish. I got hooked on buying these but now I just use the Walker. I love the combi tool.
The Walker is amazing. Such a fresh and light knife, and function packed in every crevice!
Marry me! We can play for hours! 😀💕
That's ingenious! That Kizer knife looks nicely designed, too! 👍
@@thevineclimber lovely friction folder for us across the pond 😊
Well, it looks like it would be easy to use with the piece that folks into the handle when you open it.
Yeah, I don't know, sounds like it could be easy, but I'm sure each part has many steps that go into it...LOL I want to tour the factory to see!
Great video thanks.
Thank YOU four watching and complimenting! 😀
I really want the Gardener but it is already way too expensive! The price almost tripled overnight when the list came out!
Not interested in the XLT.
Already have an
Ambassador
Executive
Walker.
Tinker, Small
Tourist
I decided to get my sister a Gardener before they were announced as being discontinued. Finally found one in Japan, of all places! Actually ordered 2, so now there is one for me, too. Can't beat dumb luck. That is one I will bet was actually discontinued earlier, but without an announcement, because they have been so very hard to find.
You have an excellent collection of discontinued SAKs. :)
Thank you very much for coming by and commenting.
@@thevineclimber , thanks. I’ve found your channel to be a breath of fresh air for SAK collectors. Nice to hear a new perspective.
Simon H Hi, I think being a SAK collector sort of sneaks up on you before you know it.
Yes; I agree - I should have listed the manager. If you are in favor of keeping the tinker small, would you also favor keeping the tourist as a Spartan small?
Truer words were never spoken!!!!
I know, right? I really want to try out a locking blade version. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for good deals.
@@thevineclimber One of our favorites, the Evo 23, is nudging up in price.
I hope people are listening! That's a fantastic knife.
I love my Executive! Hate to see it go. I have 2 and will look for more - if folks aren't too proud/greedy with them.
It is not going to be easy to find a new executive at this point, I bet! I know I haven't found any.
Yes, orange peeler looks so cool though! 😎 🍊
Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Oh my gosh what a terrible story. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Wow. Let's all not lose each other's tools.
"I've got a lot of advice for Victorinox" 🤣🤣🤣 Me too!... hahaha... Let's go knock on their door and ask to be hired on as their R&D team! 😜
Yes! It's like why do you constantly circle just THIS close to perfection? We can get you there!!
What’s the perfect Victorinox?
Ooh, good question! For me, most days, I think it's the Swiss Champ, but I would come up with some other things to put in the toothpick slot.
@@thevineclimber for me just give me a compact with a Philips head on top of the parcel hook
That's interesting. I wonder if they could invent a fine tipped Phillips. For like toys. That's one thing I sometimes wish I had.
@@thevineclimber you're right
I literally just bought a slightly overpriced Walker just now.
IMO, Rambler is sufficient and most long lasting. With no pen that might ran out of ink, or led light that ran out of battery.
You know that is a good point. They make a replacement but then you're tied into buying replacements for life!
100% true, manager is nr 2 for me just after compact
I've watched this before. I picked up a tinker small for too much...but
Yes! The Tinker small is incredible. By making it smaller with the same tools, they have increased the usefulness per iz or mm. I can't help but think it's worth it.
@thevineclimber probably. It's cute, too, but I expect it's sort of vintage . I don't think I will use it .
My List:
74mm Executive with black scales, the retailer has increased the price $8 since I ordered it a week ago.
Evolution S101, I especially like the small clip point blade.
EvoGrip 14
EvoWood 14
(I wanted an example of each of the different scales on the 85mm Delemonts)
Rangergrip 61, the description said "green/black" but the one I received is red/black.
Thanks for the info!! Glad to know I should hold off on the 61.
@@thevineclimber If I had known the Rangergrip 61 would be red, I would have spent a few more dollars and bought the Rangergrip 79.
@@thevineclimber It appears that the Red/Black Rangergrip 61 is no longer listed in the Victorinox USA catalog (hint-hint).
That's great!

I recently gotten me some EvoGrips and RangerGrips. Only thing i can say: why didn't i buy these things before...
I know, right? They are still available on the Victorinox website when I checked yesterday.
@@thevineclimber yes I checked after viewing this video and they were as we're some of the other models 👍 yay! 😁
Woot!
I think the Victorinox German Army knife is super cool because of the history and the usefulness.
Yes, it seems very cool. I have thought about getting one many times. My brain has not yet completely transitioned to the idea that I would be a collector.
I love my walker
Me Too!! Do you take it hiking? Do you use it around the house? Burn wood?
Oh thank you so much!! :)
I also don't like the serrated main blades on some of the 111mm knives. I used my Work Sharp knife sharpener to remove the serrations from a Trailmaster. It did it quickly and looks like it has a factory edge.
@@georgelewis7154 I almost did that but you also grind away a lot of blade.
Haha obviously you're in love with Victorinox knives. So am I. :) I agree about Victorinox marketing problems...
@@thevineclimber I think the marketing Director of the company is Mr Elsener's wife. But did they ever try to buy a pouch on their own website ?
Lol That's funny that you point that out because my original reply to you, which I deleted, said that I was going to try to move to Switzerland and get a job as their marketing director. Because even though I don't know how to market anything I knew how to list which Swiss army knives would fit in the pouch on the website. I guess I will put that plan to rest, though, in light of your new information!
Weird thing about Victorinox after watching someone disassemble one is looks so modular but Victorinox aint doing anything with it.
Yeah, totally... I wonder if they worry they will somehow break the magic. Their product is maybe too affordable for its own good?
I am equally obsessed with these knives, and am sad to see so many go away. I heard the manager is going away also. This is the one i have with me most often since its on my keychain
Then you should definitely buy another Manager.
I personally favor this strategy, also. I bought another Walker, and for now I can't find any!
#SAKexcuses
Bought a RangerGrip 79 because it’s being discontinued at the end of 2023.
France love yours videos❤.
France and I love the Opinel! Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment! I hope I can visit France one day!
@@thevineclimber I will welcome you and show you around.
I have the same problem with nail nicks. Some times my thumbnail just does not want to work. Any ideas?
I just saw a video by *Nikos Doulas NicGyver* using the flathead screwdriver on the 4 sided multi tool bit from one of the Swiss cards to help lift up the tools on a Victorinox SAK. He gives many helpful tips on how to use Victorinox SAK tools unconventionally. Type his name in TH-cam search and also search: *HACK:"Access Tool" for Swiss Army Knives-Multitools.*
He shows the tip near the 1:15 timestamp in video.
No. I cut myself today, and that hurts, but this nail is worse!! Oh, I forgot. Felix Immler says to use the toothpick. The little crooked top does kind of fit in there. It does look dumb, though! Thanks for the view and the comment!! 😀
Oh what a great idea! I can't wait to watch this video!! Thank you for sharing this information!! 😀
That's cuts me up losing some good knifes should be against the Geneva conventions.
ROFL!!! I get it! Switzerland!
Bring back the scientist. I prefer the slimmer knives
I would love a scientist! What if someone came up with an easy way to take apart SAKs and put them back together with little screws?
Wish I could give more viewpoints on these but I am fairly new to buying SAKs and only have the RangerGrip 58 so far. I might get a Midnight Manager in the future. 😁 I like that it has a light on it, among the other tools in a small package. I do carry a tiny Olight i1r2 but I like having multiple light backups on me. 😉
I think it's endearing to see a lady nerding out on multitools!
What I think ? That this is all marketing video.
"Just me".)
SAK's are over-rated and overpriced.
I can see how some people would find them overrated, but in the whole, they are not overpriced, I think. What gives a better value? I love new ideas and tools.
All 58s are just toys. Just get rid off them!
How much did you buy the gardener ?
Make them custom snd send them via courier
wtf

No - I don't have any!!
