- A really nice day of driving in the Italian and swiss alps, just so addictive! Including the Stelvio and Gavia pass on my KTM 990 adventure with the o so nice Akrapovic exhauts!

It's a Garmin Oregon. It's not the best for turn by turn navigation but for the rest its just about awesome! I use it for hiking, mountain biking, my motorbike and in my car. Easy to get maps, waterproof, small and fits perfect on the bike and the 2 AA batteries last some 18hours! And clearly a go pro for filming!
Yep it rained all night but luckily I had a great hotel in the stelvio pass. A nice easy start of the day and the fun really starts when the sun comes out!
thanx for quick response :) I think this is what exactly happens on my Honda with Remus exhaust.
My fuel consumption went up 10-20% with the engine mapping of the Akrapovic exhausts. So I had it put back to the original mapping. Ever since there is this awesome backfiring between 3.500-5.000RPM :).

Your bike is running lean. IF you have a complete Akrapovic line you should really run the akrapovic fuel mapping. And it is also more important if you have a aftermarket free flow air filter.
Lean running engine tends to overheating combustion chamber that leads to burnt valves and melting piston crown in worst cases. Even if you dont melt anything it reduces the life of your engine by a significant margin.

there were rainy days the days before the video? there are some slipperry parts...
Wasn't the motorcycle running too lean with this setup? Leaning too much an engine increases temp and can burn valves, and my current V2 engine (honda Varadero 1000) is also running lean, hence my question.

Hey - love the video, are these Akrapovic street legal in Switzerland?
This drive was without the silencers back then. Not sure if that is still legal nowadays. with the silencers in it's still a very nice sound which makes the bike even more enjoyable!

I am thinking about getting a 990 adventure so I can go to the South of Italy, Romania and of course where you rode. How is the handling on asphalt? Also how is the gas mileage on the bike?
I have a 2010 990 Adv R.. With Heidenau's it is super-sure-footed and steady in corners to at least 150kmh (not been any faster).. with the Kenda knobbies it came with anything over 120 got sketchy.. I'm getting around 225km/15 litres.. probably a lot more than this guy was getting up those passes!,,
Heey. Ik zit er zeer sterk aan te denken om een 990 aan te schaffen, dat briljante geluid is een van de redenen. maar ik ben erg bang dat ik mss te klein ben voor deze zeer hoge motor. Ik ben zelf 1.75. Wat is jou lengte en kom jij fatsoenlijk aan de grond ?

Ha die Kevin, ik ben 1,78 en kom prima aan de grond. Niet met beide voeten plat maar stuk beter dan de 620 adventure die ik eerst had. Maar ga niet voor het R model. Die staat en stuk hoger!
Heey bedankt voor je snelle reactie. Het is voor mij de keuze aan de ktm of de heel wat duurdere bmw GS adventure met esa. Maar de esa in offroad word de GS wel heel erg hoog, maar ik weet niet hoe hoe hoog vergeleken met de ktm. En naast de bmw vind ik de ktm zeer mooi en dat blok klinkt zeer goed. Mischien binnekort maar eens proefrijden.
Proefrit is altijd slim, de BMW is meer een oude mannen motor en de KTM een eigenwijs scheurijzer. De BMW koop je met je verstand en de KTM met je hart :). Beide heel fijne motoren alleen heel andere doelgroep.
haha bedankt. ik vond de bmw al fantastisch. De KTM ga ik zeker nog proberen. De 1190 staat ook nog op het lijstje haha. Ik ben 23 maar ik heb afgelopen jaar een zwaar motor ongeluk gehad door een auto die geen voorrang velende . En ik kan mijn been niet zo ver meer buigen en zoiets maakt je heel veel ouder whaha XD Maar ik hou ook van tech op de motor en dat heeft de bmw. Maar ik wil eerst alle allroads uitproberen. De SuperTenere was et em net niet. Nu moet ik nog de KtM uitproberen. Thanks
