  • On this episode of Fishin' on the bay we head out to sunny Alameda California to do some fishin' for some Halibut and possibly a Striper. We decided to play it safe and fish from shore on this day due to it being super windy. Sure enough soon as we hit the water here come in all the Kayak fisherman from the chop. Water was a little murky due to the wind and chop but that didn't stop us from giving it a go and getting some action.

    I don’t understand the point of blowing up the spot ? Part of the reason why every week there are shit loads of people . You even have people living in the parking lot snd sidewalks in R.v at Ballena now .

      What up bud thanks for the comment. We don't mind sharing our fishing spots with the community sometimes. Especially in such an urban environment. I drive by that spot all the time. No one is there combat fishing. We just want people like yourself to be able to go enjoy places like this. For some its right in our backyards. If we're able to share some of our knowledge with other fishermen and women we are all for it. Now if you asked us where our secret German Brown spot is or one of our actual secret spots are. You might never find out. All and all we just want everyone to be able to enjoy time with friends, family and enjoy the great outdoors. If you catch a fish even better! It all about making those memories worth talking about around the campfire for years to come. Good luck out there. Tight lines my friend! 🎣

      @@fishinonthebay enjoy places like this ? I live around the corner. You see that boat dock in front of you next to the high school . That place you fishing . The last 3 years all those rowing boaters kayakers swimmers were never present . The last 5 years cause of videos like this what was once a peaceful place is a zoo . That parking lot at the end cause of social media you can’t fish there no more cause there’s no room . No there’s signs saying we have to reel in lines because of all the paddle boards swimmers kayaks and all these gentrifiers who move here then complain that we are in there way after 40 yrs of fishing that area we have rules now because every body wants to be there . It all started with spot burning videos

      @@marpar3971 I feel you bud. There are a lot of us out there fishing and filming ourselves doing what we love. We like sharing our stories and knowledge with our community. Sorry if you think that its our fault people like to go down to the water and enjoy the beauty that the San Francisco Bay has to offer. We were out there just this last weekend. I thought of you and made a point to look around. (I do this everytime I go down there btw) No ones fishing right there. No one was stacked up and just a few on the rock wall. Lots of boats and Kayaks. but on the shore not so much. Ya got to remember we live in a really populated area. Not to mention alot more people are outside due to covid. I could see there being a problem if we just fished there all the time but we usually fish on a boat. Back then we just had a canoe and it was too windy to go out that day. So we though we would test our luck there. Not like we were reeling in hogs. Although thats would of been nice.
      Also, I would totally have to agree with you on the paddle boarders you'll be right there casting a swim bait and they will paddle right infront of you and stop. They come out of the residence right there with thier own docks. Its like keep it movin people folks or you could get a hook in ya. Just kidding would never do that..
      Good luck out there! Tight lines!🎣🤙

    Nice vid. I fished Ballena Bay today, at the end/point. Every cast got caught on the rocks! I was going for brown rock fish using squid on a single hook with a small split shot and slider. I finally gave up. Any pointers on how to not get caught? Those rocks out there are brutal and I don't see how casting&leaving is possible.

    • @fishinonthebay
      @fishinonthebay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm its pretty flat there on the bottom. Are you getting hung up when you are reeling in? If so make sure to reel really fast especially at the end so you can clear the angle of the rock wall when you are going to check on things. Another thing you might try is putting on a bigger pyramid weight on. It will help keep you on the bottom and get you out a little further. The current there can be strong due to some big tides and swells going on at the moment. You can always try the Alameda rock wall. Nice and flat there too.
      Hope that helps!🤙
      If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

    They had a kayak get together with like 200 kayaks, both parking lots were full. This place really turned into a circus. I blame the people who locked themselves in the basement for 2 years and now want to do everything. National parks are being ruined by crowds, people are drowning at the beaches and kids are buried alive in the sand, all the while the parents are clueless. Nothing like going on a hike and seeing the trails littered with masks and people blasting horrible music. Anyways I enjoyed the video
