I finally took mine apart and found the pulley bearings bad. They should be here tomorrow. Taking apart was pretty easy and your video really helped. Update; my new bearings came from Amazon yesterday. I took one of the old bearings and used a die grinder on the inside so it slipped on the shaft easily. I used it and a socket to hammer the new bearings on. I don't have a vice to press them on. It worked pretty good. Drill press is smooth and quiet now.

Just picked up one of these from 1974 at an auction for 5 bucks! Not quite as bad as yours but it could use some work. I'm missing the top cover too... bummer but no big deal. Thanks for the video, I'll follow your work and get to it!
Nice work. Glad to see something getting new life. Keep an eye on the grease as it can attract saw dust and gum up the works. There are several nice table build videos out there, I particularly like the one from Workshop Companion.
Thank you! I am hoping that the spindle is shielded enough that it will not be exposed to a high volume of saw dust- but it is definitely something to keep an eye on. I will take a look at the table from Workshop Companion- thanks for the heads up!
Great job. Ran across this video while looking for a manual for my "NEW" Craftsman 113.24920 drill press. My father passed away a while ago and was going through his stuff with my brother. This drill press was stored and operated in a shed that Dad spent a lot of time in. I had a dead mouse in the light area, so I laughed at that part. I was only going to clean things up and start using till I saw your video. All the bearings feel and look good so I am going to try and use those. Everything seems good and tight, my spindle practically fell out so the extra cleaning has started. You made things look easier than I thought it would be. I do have a bigger table that has T-slots (about 70lbs) which I was going to paint but I think I just need to use a wire brush and the spray you used (Couldn't make out the name of that if you could help). Thanks, good job. Some of my fears are gone.

I have this same model. I got it for free at the town dump. It works just fine but, needs a bit of cleanup. Now I know why the quill would never drop. LOL I'm not a wood worker. I do metal work. Regardless, we face the same problems. We just use different materials. I also need to solve the table lift problem. I'm working on a solution but, wonder if you ever found one. I will check more of your videos. You did a good job. Thank you for the video.

I have this drill press that I bought 30 years ago for $75, never done a thing to it and have done many unconventional uses. It's a beast and has never failed me.

I have the same press. Its on my list for rust restoration. I use a rust inhibitor after cleaning. It stops any rust that I can't get to from working its way to the surface.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Same, I sprayed all internal surfaces with some Fluid Film. I also coat the base and tables with it. I typically apply some oil to the post instead of the fluid film though.
I have a motor from one of those .. but no info on the motor .. It needs a startup capacitor and i cannot read hardly anything on the motor label. Do you have any idea what the HP that motor is and how many uf the capacitor is ?
Pretty much just got the same press from FB for 100, that’s in better condition rust wise… but I can’t find an accessory tilting table for the life of me lol… 113.213710 is the model I got… any suggestions on bearing replacement?
I have links to the bearings in the description- I am not sure whether yours would be the exact same bearings but the ones in my press are pretty common sizes, so I would hazard to guess they may be the same.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking for. Typically drill presses have a 5/8" chuck and any 5/8 inch chuck would be able to hold a 1/2inch drill bit.
@BassadorWoodworking this was a drill press that you fasten a 1/2" drill in the bale wire held the drill in place I need to make a bale to hold the drill in place I need all dimensions to each bend to make it

So how did you get the spindle and quill out??. Mine is frozen solid
A lot of penetrating oil and a few raps with a mallet should loosen up the quill release. Mine was frozen pretty solid until it suddenly wasn't.

Do you know where to get parts for this press? The rubber motor mount bushings on mine are bad and I can't find where to get them.

The motor is 1/2HP and would (probably) take a 320-400 µF start capacitor but I cannot find any concrete numbers in the manual.

The press has been running like a champ. I have used it almost daily with no issues.
