Well made video, but I think a better comparison would have been the Apex Pros and the P770s. P790s are half a club to a full club stronger than the Apex Pros.
I was thinking that. The P790s are a bit more of a 'player improvement' iron. They are similar I guess to a point but but overall the P770 would have been a better comparison. I can't see me, at my age, playing the Apex irons. And I'm a guy that used to game them back when they were still under the Hogan name.
@@chrish1585 Ye, the regular Apex is the right club to compare to the P790s. The Apex Pros are definitely more comparable to the P770s. When I got my P790s I looked at the Apex but much preferred the P790s in pretty much every way.
Incorrect. At 2min 30 comparative lofts are shown. Over seven clubs the biggest loft difference is 2.5 degrees for 6 & 7 irons. 4 & 9 irons have only 1 degree difference and PW are the same. The comparison is totally valid and viewers will have to decide what gapping works best for them. What would be of greater help is knowing what shafts were used.
nice try but go check the lofts on the P770 (22,25,29,33,37,41), they are directly aligned to Apex Pro whereas p790 is stronger across the board. It’s fair that the reviewer points it out it’s just not the correct iron to be comparing Apex against
Great review Georgina, thanks. I plan to test both of these as well as the Cobra Forged Tec. Like the looks of the P790s...the Apex Pros look a little too small for me (especially the longer irons). I play to a 9 Hcp...so need all the help I can get 🙂
I use the Callaway apex pros from 2019 and I can’t change to anything else they are the best Irons I’ve ever played and they feel amazing and I love them a lot
The most obvious question for me-as someone focused on stopping power with irons-is how can this data be correct? How can the Callaway with 700 rpm more spin and a higher launch angle run out 13 yards (140-153) while the Taylormade only runs out 9 yards (148-157)? Is the extra ball speed resulting in a higher peak and descents angle?
My Callaway Apex '21's would be a better comparison - same lofts as the TM's. You and I hit the same distance (I'm a 74 y.o. male) so it would be good match between us ;}. For the 5 iron, I use Callaway's Rogue 9 metal which I hit in the mid 160s - the height holds the greens well. For a lower shot, perhaps the Rogue 7 metal or a hybrid. My Callaway Apex '21s are the best irons I've ever played.
Well love it seems you too are amongst those trying to ask this question which is stupid, BECAUSE I COULD ENTER A COMP WIN SAY THE VERY BEST DRIVER BUT FOR ME I DOES NOT WORK , THIS applies to any club , if comparing one against another does not work. I wore out a driver last year so this year the best one is PING 420 OR SOMETHING I tried it even bought it but no matter which shaft they put in it did not work for me. SO BRAND V ANOTHER BRAND DOES NOT WORK.
This is not a good comparison. The word from callaway and johnny wonder said it too, the apex pro is not a players distance iron. P77 is closer, much closer in loft also. I get why people love seeing thw p790 but please compare apples with apples.
Callaway have missed a trick here. A slightly larger Apex Pro+ club with 31 degrees of loft would fly off the shelves and take business away from the likes of TM and PXG. The standard Apex and Paradyms just don’t cut it looks wise for the mid handicapper.

The P790s are made to be long, but I can’t shape the ball. I have no use for any Callaway product. It’s a personal thing I have with Callaway business tactics.
@@annehansen139 they helped begin the destruction of the Ben Hogan line. They took the Edge name and left the brand to twist in the wind. I was ready to buy the Icon irons. Taylormade is getting close also.

I play the Apex CF -16s which are the same loft as the new P-790s. Bet they play exactly the same.

790s are juiced. I tried some for my recent fitting and they do feel amazing. However, I ended up going for a Wilson d9 forged instead.

these apex pro seem similar to i230, T150, P770, ZX7, MP223. is someone in the market for P790 looking at the apex pro and vice versa?

I currently play with 3 wedges, 50, 54, 60 degree wedges. These TM wedges look great

Maybe compare apples with apples ? 770 would have been a more logical test
