I was wearing my brown scapula under my shirt but you can still see the brown cord. I was shopping at Sobey's and a very young checkout clerk mentioned to me "You are wearing a brown scapula right?" My hand went to my neck cuz I thought it had slipped out. She laughed. I said " Yes, do you know about it?" She said she did and would have to start wearing hers again. We just never know when we are going to be a witness, without saying a word. ❤❤❤❤

I think the reason why the brown scapular is not as popular is that we have to be careful not to view it as a lucky charm but a promise to live a holy life. Our devotion has to be real.

I had a motorcycle accident, I should have been dead, except I had my Scapular on! Since then, I buy bulk scapulars and leave 3 or 4 at the entrances of the Church every few weeks. Smile ear to ear to see them gone after Mass! Thank You Mary and your Son Jesus!
As a very young child, perhaps 8 or 9, I bought a statue of Our Lady of Fatima for my mother for Mother’s Day. I had used my birthday money. It was placed in our home in the dining room. About thirty years ago, when our family home. Was being sold, I was offered it. I took it into my home and it has been on display ever since. I recently found my old scapular and began wearing it, and I began saying the rosary every day. I believe that I received grace to return to the church and repent in my seventies through this grace. Also, my home was protected from damage from a tornado that raged around it in the early 2000’s. Trees fell all around it but none of them hit our house!

I ended up working for them as an admin & assisted in sewing the scapulars. Old scapulars are used in the shower as well as hanging on door knobs to the entrance of the house, garage door & on windows for extra protection. I give scapulars away as well as the Garment of Grace pamphlet that tells its story. While watching this video, I'm making rosaries for church in which we send them to other countries, prisons & organizations that needs them. Praying for peace. ✝️🙏🛐

I had my scapular enrolled at first Holy Communion 60 years ago. I bought a new one and my priest blest it. He said my scapular( s) are always enrolled automatically since my very first one was.
The brown scapular enrollment is for the individual. That means a new brown scapular doesn't need a blessing. I give my new ones a kiss before wearing. God bless

My father died on a first Saturday of November some 8 years ago. He was a member of Holy Eucharist Adoration Laymen Society at our local parish at Imus Cavite in the Philippines. They commit hours and hours of prayer at the parish chapel where the Holy Eucharist is exposed.He is an also part extraordinary Lay Ministers who are mandated by the Parish Priest and Bishop to help in bringing to the sick and dying the Holy Eucharist around the Parish and in Sunday Mass. Days in comatose I ask a priest to bless a Scapular I bought and brought to him and have it won around his neck. I know he goes to confession and a man of prayer and devotion. In my younger years he gave me his book on the Imitation of Christ and taught me to medidate on it. He also prays the Rosary and welcomes Our Lady of Fatima home to home Rosary. Its not very often and even rare I dream of him but one of the best one is I saw him in a dream somewhat like a glimpse possibly even less than a second as a young man in his best look ,well dressed and a beautiful smile looking at me. I believe he is in heaven!

I get my scapulars on Michaels site on Etsy. It comes with a small cross on them and a small miraculous medal. Each scapular is touched to a first class relic. I've worn mine for years 24/7. My son made sure he had his on when he passed away.
I have been wearing the scapular medal for 2 years now. I was enrolled into the Carmelite order. Such a blessing! Praise be to God for such graces and gifts.
The wool type is the only approved brown scapular, but if you're allergic to wool, then the metal ones may be worn. And God knows if you're allergic. 😊 God bless

About 10 years ago, I still lived with my parents (in their garden, in a renewed, winterized shed), and I was very frustrated about something, and in my mind I shouted with God, and I asked Him a sign. After I calmed down a little ( and my frustration went down into my unconscious, and I almost forgot, what I asked of God) I stepped out of my shed, and - as usual - I directed the flashlight immediately down to the doorstep. It's almost like an OCD thing, because my cat used to put there his 'gifts': dead mouses, half-dead mouses.... So I directed the flashlight down, and something reflected the light back. It was a little medal. It was a brown scapular medal. When I entered my shed, then there was *nothing* there. I should have noticed it on the way in, because I did this flashlight-thing always (being scared of the mouses). I should have noticed something shiny on the way in. And there's no way my family members put it there, they just simply wouldn't do something like this. (And years later I asked the only family member, who could possibly do something like this, and she said, she didn't put it there.) So that little brown scapular medal appeared out of nowhere, while I was busy shouting with God, just to console me, just to give me the sign.
We have worn our scapulars for so many years the brown cord started to just break. So we purchased new ones. I also remember them giving us scapulars and enrolling us at First Holy Communion. 🙏🏻♥️that was so long ago. Carmelite Priests will be able to enroll you for sure. I keep one in the bathroom to wear while showering. That way I'm still wearing it if my time comes. Then switch it back to the newest one. They last longer that way. The scapulars don't need to be blessed by a priest. The enrollment goes with the person. You can buy or borrow a new one and wear it as is. No problems. There are a lot of confused opinions on this unfortunately.
Scapular enrolment (Scapular Promise) is also very important, without it you are not guaranteed all the promises and graces that come with it. Also the material it is made should be of all wool material.
I’ve been enrolled in the Brown Scapular since 2013 ! At the Blessed Father Solanus Center after confession there I had the Priest do the Enrollment prayer 🙏
I did a 33 day consecration and it fell on July 16th too !❤ it was the 33 days to Morning Glory back in 2013. I truly Believe Our Blessed Mother had a Hand in this ❤✝️🕊️

I’ve heard of orbs or sometimes smoke entering peoples homes/rooms. When people pray and use holy water, holy items it makes these things disappear. Has happened to at least two family members.

Both POPE St John Paul II and Venerable Fulton Sheen were both consecrated as Third Order Lay Carmelites. I'm a 3rd Order O'Carm Lay Carmelite. ( the ancient one from Elijah times before the discalced 3rd Order of Mt Carmel was started by St Theresa of Avila) a formation of 6 years. I highly recommend joining the lay Carmelites a beautiful devotion. The recommendation from our Blessed Mother is wearing the brown woolen Scapular vs the Carmelite medal as a substitute... Is there web info available for the 3rd Order you belong to? I've not heard of any other than the discalced order. I was in the Aspirant formation at the local 3rd order for 5 months and then was told I was not mature enough in my faith; I had returned to the faith 1 1/2 yrs prior to this after 50 years away. They wanted me to wait another year or so and when I tried again was rejected again, told I needed to do more study, etc. I was really put off by this elite attitude and the general coldness I felt from long-time members. So now I don't know.......but I'm still mainly attracted to the charism of the Carmelites.
I actually brought my brown scapular, that has lasted for years from the Carmelite sisters. The scapular I would truly love to have is a saint Benedictine Scapular. It is difficult to find good quality scapulars. Especially a saint benedictine.
Being vested in the scapular shows a comittment to daily imitation of our Lord, and the priest who invests you can substitute a daily praying of the rosary for the reading if the little office...we need to be discussing the meaning...as well as the wearing

I was enrolled in the brown scapular a few months ago by my priest. I wear it everyday and I wear it to bed . I only take it off to shower so it doesn't get ruined then I immediately put it back on after my shower.
It is important to note that the Brown Scapular is a conditional devotion, there are a few rules associated with it to receive the graces attached to it. It must be enrolled by a priest. The Carmelite Sisters has an FAQ on their website.

There are devotional prayers involved that need to be prayed daily. The daily Rosary is also an option. The enrollment is for you, the individual. The scapulars do not need to be blessed. I wear it in the shower and from what I understand this is permissible IF it is not your first scapular…you must start with the wool one??? It does mean that. But without corresponding to graces, effort on your part to become holy with sacrifice, it’s considered idol worshiping and ‘magic’. A sin. So do YOUR part to merit the graces of salvation. Cooperate with The BVM’s calling.

There are good sources online that would best answer your question. Go to a reputable source. You can be enrolled by any parish priest. The scapulars do not need to be blessed to be worn by an enrollee. There are devotional prayers that you need to be prayed daily, or at the time of enrollment, you may choose the daily recitation of the Rosary, which is what I chose. Hope this helped

I got mine and was investituted by a priest. He prayed a certain prayer and made me kiss my scapular then he was the one who put it on me. That is how I understood how you can get one along with the daily prayers. So based on what I watched is you can just hand them out to anyone who wanted it?
Hello, is it not ok to wear a medal scapular in place of the brown? I asked a few priest and they said it was ok. I had mine for a long time but it fell apart and started wearing the medal one. I know the brown cloth represents that of the habit.

@@UniquelyMary I'm 67 and in my youth wore the Mt Carmel scapular. But became a person of the world. Yet never heard of the fasting aspect of the promise, or the need for it to be installed by a priest. My point being we a lot of the time, get only bits and pieces of the fine details of the requirements to obtain the promises. I think a good example of Incompleted requirements being met is the message and promises of Fatima. The request for the Pope in conjunction with all the Bishops of the Church to Consecrate Russia to Our Lady's immaculate heart has never been done. Sure consecrations have been done, but in my opinion, not consecrated as requested by Our Lady. And too, How many of us lay people fulfill the wearing of the Scapular and praying of the rosary daily or first Saturday devotions. . So many things get lost in translation, or we get bits and pieces and miss some of the details. If is a mighty big word for only being two letters. 2 Chronicles 7:14, “…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Promises always come with the word "IF" attached to it.

I don't wear mine as a charm, I often hold it in my hand when in a bad situation and pray to Mary.
Satan does not want anyone to wear one.He has said that it takes so many souls away from him and he is powerless against the Scapular.

Being expert with sewing, I fixed my brown scapular so it never breaks, never needs any mending.
I mend my Scapulars too, they last a long time for me. I just take it off when I shower.

Get a second one for the shower. Keeps the non-shower one in better shape for longer.

How I understood is that the scapular had to be wool with a cord. Metal is not acceptable. Can you explain the metal scapular to me pls..
The wool type is the only approved brown scapular, but if you're allergic to wool, then the metal ones may be worn. And God knows if you're allergic. 😊 God bless

About 10 years ago, I still lived with my parents (in their garden, in a renewed, winterized shed), and I was very frustrated about something, and in my mind I shouted with God, and I asked Him a sign.
After I calmed down a little ( and my frustration went down into my unconscious, and I almost forgot, what I asked of God) I stepped out of my shed, and - as usual - I directed the flashlight immediately down to the doorstep. It's almost like an OCD thing, because my cat used to put there his 'gifts': dead mouses, half-dead mouses....
So I directed the flashlight down, and something reflected the light back. It was a little medal. It was a brown scapular medal.
When I entered my shed, then there was *nothing* there. I should have noticed it on the way in, because I did this flashlight-thing always (being scared of the mouses). I should have noticed something shiny on the way in. And there's no way my family members put it there, they just simply wouldn't do something like this. (And years later I asked the only family member, who could possibly do something like this, and she said, she didn't put it there.)
So that little brown scapular medal appeared out of nowhere, while I was busy shouting with God, just to console me, just to give me the sign.
We have worn our scapulars for so many years the brown cord started to just break. So we purchased new ones.
I also remember them giving us scapulars and enrolling us at First Holy Communion. 🙏🏻♥️that was so long ago. Carmelite Priests will be able to enroll you for sure.
Sad but true there are Priests not familiar with scapulars! Educate them with info on them it you come across them.

Even my kids don't take it off, even if it's worn out, but wear the new blessed one n then take off the old one
I keep one in the bathroom to wear while showering. That way I'm still wearing it if my time comes. Then switch it back to the newest one. They last longer that way. The scapulars don't need to be blessed by a priest. The enrollment goes with the person. You can buy or borrow a new one and wear it as is. No problems. There are a lot of confused opinions on this unfortunately.
Scapular enrolment (Scapular Promise) is also very important, without it you are not guaranteed all the promises and graces that come with it. Also the material it is made should be of all wool material.

I did a 33 day consecration and it fell on July 16th too !❤ it was the 33 days to Morning Glory back in 2013. I truly Believe Our Blessed Mother had a Hand in this ❤✝️🕊️

Is there web info available for the 3rd Order you belong to? I've not heard of any other than the discalced order. I was in the Aspirant formation at the local 3rd order for 5 months and then was told I was not mature enough in my faith; I had returned to the faith 1 1/2 yrs prior to this after 50 years away. They wanted me to wait another year or so and when I tried again was rejected again, told I needed to do more study, etc. I was really put off by this elite attitude and the general coldness I felt from long-time members. So now I don't know.......but I'm still mainly attracted to the charism of the Carmelites.

I was enrolled in the brown scapular a few months ago by my priest. I wear it everyday and I wear it to bed . I only take it off to shower so it doesn't get ruined then I immediately put it back on after my shower.

It is important to note that the Brown Scapular is a conditional devotion, there are a few rules associated with it to receive the graces attached to it. It must be enrolled by a priest. The Carmelite Sisters has an FAQ on their website.

There are devotional prayers involved that need to be prayed daily. The daily Rosary is also an option. The enrollment is for you, the individual. The scapulars do not need to be blessed. I wear it in the shower and from what I understand this is permissible IF it is not your first scapular…you must start with the wool one??? The only specific rule is that the 2 panels 1 in front and 1 in back must be made of 100% wool.

To my knowledge just the rosary. I pray other prayers of course but I pray the rosary and wear the scapular out of dedication to Mary.
There are good sources online that would best answer your question. Go to a reputable source. You can be enrolled by any parish priest. The scapulars do not need to be blessed to be worn by an enrollee. There are devotional prayers that you need to be prayed daily, or at the time of enrollment, you may choose the daily recitation of the Rosary, which is what I chose.

Hello, is it not ok to wear a medal scapular in place of the brown? I asked a few priest and they said it was ok. I had mine for a long time but it fell apart and started wearing the medal one. I know the brown cloth represents that of the habit.

@@UniquelyMary I'm 67 and in my youth wore the Mt Carmel scapular. But became a person of the world. Yet never heard of the fasting aspect of the promise, or the need for it to be installed by a priest.
My point being we a lot of the time, get only bits and pieces of the fine details of the requirements to obtain the promises.
I think a good example of Incompleted requirements being met is the message and promises of Fatima.
The request for the Pope in conjunction with all the Bishops of the Church to Consecrate Russia to Our Lady's immaculate heart has never been done. Sure consecrations have been done, but in my opinion, not consecrated as requested by Our Lady.
And too, How many of us lay people fulfill the wearing of the Scapular and praying of the rosary daily or first Saturday devotions.
