    So well explained! Thanks for taking the time to put this all together. Keeping active links up on both standard and distributed vSwitches at the same time during the config. What a concept :)

    This video, and your other with the LAG setup, are exactly what I have been looking for. Especially showing the Cisco switch console's etherchannal summary. Perfect examples. I have read various information for a very long time, but this provided clarity that I did not yet realize. I really like this method. Thank you!

      Kreg, I am happy to hear that. When I first played around with vCenter DSwitch I was very confused and took me a long time to fully understand it. Thanks!

    Great video, this is the best kind of content, simulate diferent settings, not just the basics, get into a simple way of deploying vsphere and a practical use.

    This is the best way to migrate from standard switch to distributed switch, including port groups and VMkernel NICs.

    Do you have advice for how to configure the MGBT interfaces on the hosts first?
    In my scenario, I have 4 interfaces and the mgmt subnet is on a specific VLAN. should I enable all 4 interfaces for mgmt and set the VLAN there to ensure trunk mode?

    Have any problems if vCenter down?

  • @Nick-tv5pu

    No longer works as of vCenter 8. The host on which the vCenter instance resides fails when migrating the VMkernel NIC

    At 16:40 you migrated a VM into the Distributed Switch, using the migration menus. Is it necessary to do it this way, instead of just manually moving the virtual cables, by editing the VM's settings? Does something more occur using the migration? Great video!

      Downtime will be involved for VM's by editing the vm's settings..to avoid downtime need to follow the same steps explained in this video

    Hi. already had configure the port group in the each vmhost previously, now when I create the vdswitch en vcenter and try migrate the portgroup to vdswitch I can´t , appear the message "hosts no compatible" any advice, please ?? regards and tanks for you video.

    • @pejekross
      @pejekross 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      previously had been configured other vswitch with the portgroup and main vswitch0 only with kernel nic configured and the uplinks are separate, two for a vswitch0 and two for the other, so I think maybe this is the razon why not are compatible the hosts sxi with vcenter. In advance thanks for you support. regards again.

      @@pejekross is this on a production network or a home lab? Worse case scenario you should be able to delete the old Dswitch that is attached to the ESXis and then create a new one with the vCenter server that you are using.
