She's definitely one of the most beautiful creatures ever along with Faith Hill, on top of that, they're blessed with beautiful voices.. and it's been more than 20 years now and still no one came close to 0.0001% of them.

I love Shania because she seems like such a genuine person and is a tough survivor of hardships she's been through, esp. in her early life.
And, seeing her in live concert (on TV), she's every bit as good as in her videos.💕

When Shania came out with "any man of mine" it was like when Britney Spears came out with "one more time", but for country music. Such a beautiful woman, talented too with a very humble upbringing and you gotta give props to her ex who is an insanely successful producer.
Robert John Mutt Lange the producer and his Ex wife was an 80s icon he worked with Foreigner, The Cars. ACDC. Billy Ocean and otjhers he was really into Melodic tension.

Hi Psyche! I was going to tease you over your description of this as a "country" song, but then you described how there was a slower, more-country-ish version before the one we all know. Gee, didn't know that. I gotta look that one up. Nice research. One thing I REALLY respect about Shania is, she isn't just a look and voice doing someone else's tunes. She writes! What's not to like. She looks passable too, I guess. :) (That's a really egregious joke...she's breathtaking.)
Hello Christopher, a lovely read! 🤗 - Great comments. Yes It's true there's a country version which is different than this one for the International/Europe market. A big difference and it was the correct decision as it made Shania and Record Label a lot of 💰. Had it not been changed it wouldn't have had the same impact as Country isn't massive outside America. Your due diligence in knowing this shows more attention to detail than a lot of reactors on various venues, many of whom seem like they're just picking the first thing they see and playing it.
Please feel free to just not read what's below. (Save yourself the tendency to go comatose as you read the long missive!) I tend to go on and you were SO nice in sending me the link. You don't have enough time in the day to read every blathering comment from a vociferous commenter. I have a degree in music and like to write and arrange, and this whole reaction just kind of stirred up some mental dust in my head. So I'm just thinking out loud. So please just skip this; it was more for me, so I could revisit a couple songs I like. Cheers! :)
Really dislike the three things below:
Carpenters - Close to You - There's a live performance in which the end of the song is left off, probably due to timing constraints of the show on which they performed it.
Carpenters - A Song for You - Same thing...a live performance with the incredible sax solo left out.
Numerous edited clips of comedians' live performances, chopped to pieces, with snippets left out...I don't know why.
This Shania reaction you did reminded me of two songs I DID know about, with differing versions.

"I Need You" from LeAnn Rimes was played on country stations with one version and on pop stations, with that one thankfully on the greatest-hits CD I bought. Very similar, but a small sweetening they did to the pop version was very smart. At the sustained end-of-phrase cadences, female background singers would do "Da da dih daaaaaaa." Sounds like a small thing, but the effect was similar to that of adding Tony Peluso's guitar fills in the single version of the Carpenters' "I Won't Last a Day Without You," which is better than the one on the album.
LeAnn Rimes - I Need You - Version aired on radio and on "LeAnn Rimes - Greatest Hits" - th-cam.com/video/AA_5sLaTErQ/w-d-xo.html Sweetened; preferred version.
LeAnn Rimes - I Need You - Version I heard on a country-music station - th-cam.com/video/32GP-BR_4Yg/w-d-xo.html OK, but not quite as nice.
