    Can an international dentist that just passed ORE and moved to DCT 1 without doing DFT get performer number?

  • @1marialatoya
    @1marialatoya 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video. Can a foreign-trained dentist do DCT after passing the ORE? Is there an Oral Surgery (not Omfs) DCT? Can DCT be done after a Masters in Advanced General Dental Practice? Do you know if this Masters can replace the dental foundation year?

      Hi, I can definitely look in to doing this for you! I haven't been through specialty training myself yet but I can definitely do the research for this :) I'll add it to my list! Thanks for the suggestion :)

      dentalnotebook thank you so much !! Sorry I think I got confused cuz at 2:06 , you said you’re now on a specialty doctor role. Does that mean that you’re currently still working as DCT years 2 or you’re doing a specialized training now ?
      Thank you so much for replying ! Def looking forward for more videos

    • @examinedental

      @@Gogo-zq4dk In the UK a Specialty Doctor role is not the same as being a Specialist :) It's the new terminology for a 'Staff Grade' doctor :) So I'm no longer a DCT but I haven't gone on to Specialty training yet. Not a problem - that's for taking the time to watch! New video up later today :)

    What about orthodontics... I see it's listed as an option for specialty but not included in DCT.... What are the odds of me getting into orthodontics if I did every training year in a different specialty?

    • @examinedental
      @examinedental  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need to have a read of the person specification for the specialty as that will show you what they want in your application :) You may even be okay after 2 years of DCT!

      I would recommend reading here: www.bda.org/news-and-opinion/news/dental-core-training-dct-2023/
      DCT 2 isn't any higher base salary than DCT 1 but on-calls etc may change the salary

    Hi! After the DCT 1, 2, 3 how many years of dental specialist training you should do? For endodontics for example. After DCT i can apply for that certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) or I should do another years of training? I am a foreign dentist looking to work in the UK and I am also interested in knowing more about and maybe (If i can) doing DCT and specialise there. Thank you!

    • @examinedental
      @examinedental  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maria - very good questions! Generally, for speciality training of any kind, you need to do further training, so DCT is not enough to apply for CCST. It also depends as to where you are from as to whether you can get on to the training programmes etc. You can book for some 1-to-1 advice if you like over here: examinedental.com/book :)

      Hi Joshi! Yes of course! I will be doing some examples over the next few weeks as well as discussion in depth of the interview process :) There will be a video going up this Sunday on the SJTs and recommended books for this :)

      Yes - quite a few just found normal dentistry got a bit repetitive and boring for them so DCT allowed a variety! Thanks for the kind comments! If you are looking for more DCT advice, have a look at ExamineDental.com/book

    Can Manuel Dexterity be improved? How does one know that their manuel dexterity is good enough to pursue dentistry?

    • @examinedental
      @examinedental  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely it can! Skills like playing guitar, art etc can enhance them. I don't think you'll ever know if your dexterity is good enough but if you have basic dexterity skills, you can improve these on the course :)

    If you are looking to go into associate dentistry and then open up a practice would it be a good idea to practice 3 different speciality’s to increase different types of dentistry you can complete?

    • @examinedental
      @examinedental  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be but it would probably be better to focus on one for yourself and then get other people from other specialities to contribute
