The “my friend Tom” first story is a classic. I spent most of my adult life working with youth who had severely debilitating autism. I am very familiar with the shocking behavior that drove many people away from them and caused neighbors to try to run them out of the community. We need more people like the man in the first story. Some of us are incredibly challenging and different. We all still need community.

I don't normally comment on these but that story with the kid getting picked on by the mom and the dad for a month straight accusing her of lying about a man looking in her window at night is so fucked up. And the fact both the mom and dad never apologize to the kid either after finding out they were wrong and she was right and they just unapologetically act like they always believed her. Also it's really weird that the mom and dad apparently have separate bedrooms they sleep in, all in all sounds like a pretty fucked up family.
Ya, that was heartbreaking. What a messed up family.
Mom in story 2 is a dedicated accomplice of the yard creep.

I hate when people have the opportunity to help people or stop an aggressive person from being aggressive in the future but don’t. For the apartment story with the dog, she 100% should have in some way reported the apartment manager and the other tenement. She said she didn’t know his name but she does know where he lives. So frustrating.

I don’t understand petty neighbors. Especially the whole dog “barking issue”. I know it can sound bias because I’ve grown up with so many types of pets especially dogs but I don’t understand when people get angry if a dog may bark or howl.. it’s an animal.. it makes sounds-.. I see this lady in my neighborhood who gets mad at people for walking dogs on the same street as her because her dog can’t handle other dogs and starts getting aggressive and yappy. And she curses everyone out who’s just innocently walking their dogs because HER OWN DOG doesn’t like other animals.
