Yankees fans, including myself, are going to be pissed if Steinbrenner lets Soto walk after letting us watch him crush baseballs all season long. Soto already has been welcomed and is in what should be his ballpark for the remainder of his career. I’ve never seen a player that fits a team like Juan Soto fits the Yankees.
Everybody knew before they traded for him that he was going to test free agency. There's no amount of money the Yankees could offer him right now to sign him. He would just consider that number his floor and see if any team will beat it in free agency. It should be fun to watch the bidding war.

The Yankees better take advantage of the ability to outspend everybody while they can. The salary cap is coming.
I mean he just said the payroll where its at not saying he wont spend. Plus it would only be 20 million more per year on soto

Not fair for 80% of the league but mostly not fair to 20-26 fan bases. MLB is closer to a salary cap than they are removing the luxury tax.
