I'm actually really glad that you put spoilers in the thumbnail, of course I'm well done with the game but I'm sick and tired of seeing critical spoilers inside of thumbnail in my recommended. Not to mention this is a wonderful cover, kudos to you and keep it up!!
I just imagine all these 8-bit songs as Mega Man going into the palaces, and these are the level themes. The robot masters are the owners of each palace and the levels are the palaces turned into a mega man style level. In the end, you fight the shadow versions of each palace owner. Your weapons are like the persona's from your party members, were they use the moves that the persona would in the game.
