The keyless entry pad debuted in 1980. It has operated essentially the same way since then. It's on my 89 Town car, and on my 2013 MKS. Was on my 1995 Sable too. It's so convenient.
Should you be able to just swipe your fingers up and down the door key pad to unlock door without using the code, while fob is near or far away from car? Thank You!
Cannot find these specific controls on our 2017 MKX nor anything related to adding a code on the interior setup screen. I'm guessing we have to program it from outside on the door. Will keep looking for instructions.
Could you please tell what is the main use for this code beside unlocking the doors ? Like can you start and drive the car by entering this code? If not, what so important about it assuming you always have your key with and even if you leave the key the car doesnt lock on you anyway!!!

I am unable to lock the car with keypad I can only unlock with key pad by pressing 7-8 and 9-0 , even after playing with it I can now open the door lock with just pressing 9-0 ,and I have tried to use factory code 5 digits available on the card but that does not work. Because when I start using that code by pressing 7-8 and 9-0 opened the doors. Could u guide me how I can lock the doors with keypad or somehow car should autolock after leaving the car. But it is not the case with my car
When I use the keyless entry and unlock it and unlocks all four doors and it says that it's only supposed to unlock the driver side door until you push the number 34
So, I lock the doors with my key fob and then try to use the doorpad and when it lights up that very, very top light (with no numbers) pops on and stays on and won't let me use the doorpad. Am I doing something wrong?

my keys are inside and its in battery saver mode. meaning my app and the keypad arent working. anyway to unlock the door so i can jump the car???
