  • The second person in the world (after Adam Klink two weeks previously) to Squat 500lb and run a sub 5 minute mile in the same day, and I thought I would throw in an endurance element for good measure... And to really test myself across the board.
    A brutal day, but very proud of achieving this goal for myself!

    Awesome video. Impressive athletic achievement. I'd love to see a redemption video on this one. Whenever I've raced so hard that I've puked, it has taken me long to recover. I think with a better pace on the mile, you avoid throwing up, your nervous system won't be in shock and you won't be dehydrated at the start of the 50K and then you'll hit all three goals. Good luck, you've got a new subscriber :)

    Without wanting to ruin this amazing performance, I have to give you this tip as a runner myself.
    The pacer did a horrible job. Before a race you have to calculate your splits per (half)lap. So a sub 5 mile means 75 seconds per 400m. If you then go out in 65 on your starting lap, you will be hurting way more and way earlier then necessary - as you probably might have felt. With that in mind I am actually quit impressed with how you still hung on to get that 4'58.
    I believe you can go sub 4'50 if you only focus just a little bit on pacing.
    So next time, try to even split as we call it were you go the same pace on every lap and then the last 200m you start increasing your speed until you are kicking (aka flat out sprinting with everything you have) on the last main straight. Amazing performance nonetheless, I'm very much impressed!

    • @ferguscrawley95
      @ferguscrawley95  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We knew all this beforehand my man! The brief was 1:14x3 then send it. He’s a rugby player, so minimal practiced perception of pace - but I chose to use an inexperienced pacer over not having one, and in my mind it doesn’t matter as job done in the end. And I can tell you with confidence, there will not be a next time 😂 (8 months later haha, but thank you!)

Actually barefoot is rare because 1) hygiene 2) the shoes give most of the same proprioception and stability as it allows my foot to operate as if it were barefoot!
