I've been trying to learn just some words in Korean and it is SOOO HARD to remember anything, so I am confounded by the people who can do this. It is quite a feat to accomplish when someone can speak more than one language, I think. This can be do overwhelming but all the subtle hints about things they’ve been mocked for that they are owning and proud of are do fun to find. the mv was literally bts taking what the haters said about them and using it in a mocking way main thing you'd notice is the tons of cgi in the mv and basically saying "yeah we barely used it before when you accused us of it but we can and will do whatever we want" another thing in the song itself that you pointed out was the autotune on jungkook's voice in the same regards with the cgi and i think it's really interesting how they emphasized it on jungkook specifically since he's the "main vocalist" and you can take that for many other smaller references they had in the song/mv it's really mindblowing and chaotic in the best way

A few things; Firstly, I have binge watched all your BTS videos in the last few weeks, they're great. I love your open mindedness and you come across as a very honest and open person. I don't know if this is accurate, but I feel like you are quite realistic and cynical in general, but in the same way I am (just a generally sceptical view of people's intentions, people in power, the way the world is!) My opinions on each thing have pretty much lined up with everything you've said, down to lyrical analysis, appreciation of music types, showmanship, outfits, everything. Only our biases are different haha. Secondly, I would love to know more about you as I am quite in awe of the way you speak these languages and I don't know if you were brought up with English, but you're pronunciation and the width of your vocabulary is astounding for a non-native speaker. Do you study/work with languages? And lastly, I am a metal/rock/punk/rap fan mostly. I am open to all music and like stuff from every genre but I only discovered BTS about six months ago after hearing about them for years and not bothering to listen as I thought they'd be just another boy band. I have picked up on you saying you like similar music so I was wondering how you discovered BTS? I heard Agust D, then learnt he was a member of 'that k pop' band and was shocked. I will happily admit that I was too judgemental, thinking I knew what k pop was and that they weren't anything special. I have Bipolar and several other mental health issues, as well as life long physical health problems (not looking for sympathy, I have accepted and embraced these as part of who I am), and I have been going through a difficult period for about 18 months now, but since discovering BTS I can honestly say my life is better. I wake up each day with a tiny bit of happiness just knowing they exist and I have so much more to discover about them. Anyway, thank you for your videos. They have also helped with my mental health, you are wonderful and I appreciate you 😊💜 I had to edit this as I got carried away and I've drank a bottle of rum 😂 the whole reason I thought to comment (I don't usually but have thought about it for a while) was your 'WTF is going on!? Then 'HOLY S**T, HOLY S**T and prolonged 'aghhhhh' and general mind blowing, what the hell is happening vibe, as it was my exact reaction upon seeing this! Gabbsi, you are easily one of my favorite reactors. You bring your brain to the table but you don't forget to bring your heart, too. One thing that I don't think anybody else has mentioned (at least I didn't see it in the comments): BTS usually uses real sets, real fire and such, but people accuse them of using greenscreen. It's not a big accusation, but it's been repeated enough to be annoying. So in the video, they're saying, "You want greenscreen? Here's your greenscreen!" Since you like hype songs, you might want to have a look at "So What?"

The big animals at the end are a fusion of the traditional Korean dancing lions (as DKDKTV said) and the Zangbeto, haystack guardians of the night in Benin, Togo and Nigeria. The wiki said Zangbeto festivals include colorful displays and electrifying performances. Sounds like BTS to me! Other African components: police whistles, suits of Ankara cloth, khaki clothes, Morrocan arches, girraffes. I think they made the CGI backgrounds especially garish and artificial looking to flaunt the fact they were using them. The whale might also refer to ARMY. ARMY are seen to ride on the back of purple coloured whale so I wonder if Jin was also thinking about that when he draw the Whale. This live performance is really great however there's an extended one which they did for another award show which is even better with more Korean references. It's has a much longer introduction. That includes J-Hope dancing in Korean entire, to Jimin doing a traditional Korean Fan Dance for which he won an award to Jungkook doing the traditional long white sleeve/glove dance than to traditional drums and the Lion.

Koreans say that there is a rabbit in the moon. I think it’s a fertility symbol. The auto tune on Jungkook was deliberate because their haters say they use auto tune so this is Jungkook with auto tune and that’s not what we hear in their other songs so it’s obvious they don’t use it.

Ohh they catch you, haha, they did JK autotune so obvious bc people said he used it too much on last songs and he for sure can't sing, but JK simply was trying different styles and played with music, and all this talk/hate was not nessesery really, but you know haters gona hate, he didn't hide behind autotune, he used it as fun addition, etc. But still you got catch XD I'm joking obviously. Ah but all this autotune talk, sometimes people look at the songs so much from their perspective and their own taste that they forget to take a moment and think of reason or simply think that artist wanted something to be like this and choise to do something one way then another. And there are BTS songs tgat6ateca little heavy on autotune, but even when I have thoughts like "there was much" then I finds reasons why in the end it makes sens and not only for "cool" choise. It was actually their first full CGI MV. And Yes it was for reason to show they can do what they want and don't care what people say. I really cringe, but love them all the same. The sharks are the big rich music companies, IMHO rich people are sharks or even richer whales.
Lol I love how you always hate anytime they put auto tune on jungkooks parts lol in the early days with his raps they never did… but I noticed in the songs where he has more of a melodic rap section… like he does in idol…. It’s where they do.. they did the same thing in DNA during a more melodic rap section as well… it’s strange but I agree…. His raw voice is so good and versatile he can do any sound… but I guess it’s what the producer was going for ? Anyway it’s okay bc when they do it live it’s just his voice and it’s always so good! Did you notice the words that didn't make sense they are the words to discribe a Traditional Korean drum beat. Also the clothes are the fashion side of traditional Korean clothes. It's a slap in the face for all their haters. Eg those who said they weren't Idols, weren't real Rappers (because they left the underground Rap scene to become 'Kpop Idols', to those who said they had become too Westernised. It's a real smack in the face to those who've attacked BTS over the years. It's the we don't give a shite about what you think we know who we are, what we have achieved and you are not going to stop us loving ourselves. Yes they are traditional mythological beasts/symbols, even the rabbit in the moon is traditional Korean where in the west it's 'The man in the moon'.

A few things;
Firstly, I have binge watched all your BTS videos in the last few weeks, they're great. I love your open mindedness and you come across as a very honest and open person. I don't know if this is accurate, but I feel like you are quite realistic and cynical in general, but in the same way I am (just a generally sceptical view of people's intentions, people in power, the way the world is!) My opinions on each thing have pretty much lined up with everything you've said, down to lyrical analysis, appreciation of music types, showmanship, outfits, everything. Only our biases are different haha.
Secondly, I would love to know more about you as I am quite in awe of the way you speak these languages and I don't know if you were brought up with English, but you're pronunciation and the width of your vocabulary is astounding for a non-native speaker. Do you study/work with languages?
And lastly, I am a metal/rock/punk/rap fan mostly. I am open to all music and like stuff from every genre but I only discovered BTS about six months ago after hearing about them for years and not bothering to listen as I thought they'd be just another boy band. I have picked up on you saying you like similar music so I was wondering how you discovered BTS? I heard Agust D, then learnt he was a member of 'that k pop' band and was shocked. I will happily admit that I was too judgemental, thinking I knew what k pop was and that they weren't anything special. I have Bipolar and several other mental health issues, as well as life long physical health problems (not looking for sympathy, I have accepted and embraced these as part of who I am), and I have been going through a difficult period for about 18 months now, but since discovering BTS I can honestly say my life is better. I wake up each day with a tiny bit of happiness just knowing they exist and I have so much more to discover about them.
Anyway, thank you for your videos. They have also helped with my mental health, you are wonderful and I appreciate you 😊💜
I had to edit this as I got carried away and I've drank a bottle of rum 😂 the whole reason I thought to comment (I don't usually but have thought about it for a while) was your 'WTF is going on!? Then 'HOLY S**T, HOLY S**T and prolonged 'aghhhhh' and general mind blowing, what the hell is happening vibe, as it was my exact reaction upon seeing this! I still can't focus when watching it, it's so damn hectic! Also JK in his legendary Vlive talked about how proud he is of being South Korean (it was sparked by how good their takeaway is 😂 I feel that, but I loved it because I didn't know how they felt about their country) .I'm sorry this is so long.
imagine how flabbergasted i was when this came out, completely different song and music video from anything they had done, it came after Fake Love comeback and the teaser song for the new album was Jin's Epiphany !!! like??? just such a crazy comeback, so unexpected, so much information to gather lol
Gabbsi, you are easily one of my favorite reactors. You bring your brain to the table but you don't forget to bring your heart, too. One thing that I don't think anybody else has mentioned (at least I didn't see it in the comments): BTS usually uses real sets, real fire and such, but people accuse them of using greenscreen. It's not a big accusation, but it's been repeated enough to be annoying. So in the video, they're saying, "You want greenscreen? Here's your greenscreen!" Since you like hype songs, you might want to have a look at "So What?"

This live performance is really great however there's an extended one which they did for another award show which is even better with more Korean references. It's has a much longer introduction. That includes J-Hope dancing in Korean entire, to Jimin doing a traditional Korean Fan Dance for which he won an award to Jungkook doing the traditional long white sleeve/glove dance than to traditional drums and the Lion.

Koreans say that there is a rabbit in the moon. I think it’s a fertility symbol. The auto tune on Jungkook was deliberate because their haters say they use auto tune so this is Jungkook with auto tune and that’s not what we hear in their other songs so it’s obvious they don’t use it.

Ohh they catch you, haha, they did JK autotune so obvious bc people said he used it too much on last songs and he for sure can't sing, but JK simply was trying different styles and played with music, and all this talk/hate was not nessesery really, but you know haters gona hate, he didn't hide behind autotune, he used it as fun addition, etc. But still you got catch XD I'm joking obviously.
Ah but all this autotune talk, sometimes people look at the songs so much from their perspective and their own taste that they forget to take a moment and think of reason or simply think that artist wanted something to be like this and choise to do something one way then another.
And there are BTS songs tgat6ateca little heavy on autotune, but even when I have thoughts like "there was much" then I finds reasons why in the end it makes sens and not only for "cool" choise.

Lol I love how you always hate anytime they put auto tune on jungkooks parts lol in the early days with his raps they never did… but I noticed in the songs where he has more of a melodic rap section… like he does in idol…. It’s where they do.. they did the same thing in DNA during a more melodic rap section as well… it’s strange but I agree…. His raw voice is so good and versatile he can do any sound… but I guess it’s what the producer was going for ? Anyway it’s okay bc when they do it live it’s just his voice and it’s always so good!

Did you notice the words that didn't make sense they are the words to discribe a Traditional Korean drum beat. Also the clothes are the fashion side of traditional Korean clothes. It's a slap in the face for all their haters.
