I was once at a table with Nguyen , and the guy was a nuisance. He had to make a comment to everybody individually and people were avoiding his eye contact and once raised his hand for silence just before the turn card was dealt, so he could loudly pass wind, which he then proceed to waft his hand about, spreading his gas. The man is a fool.
Nearly always, the downfall of poker players is sports betting. As for the modern game, it's hard to beat the rake with so few new players, and so many grinding sharks. But, it's still a fun game IF your finances don't depend on the turn of a friendly card (a reference to a fantastic song)
All too often gambling turns good men to devastating ruin, it's pretty tragic, so glad I didn't go down that road. There are many victims. Relatives, families...
I read Gus' book where he went over a lot of hands in a tournament he won and BOY was he lucky in that tournament that nobody ever had anything to contest his ridiculous bluffs
Aussie Poker Open. I read that as well. Fun read. I saw Gus doing the ultimate degen move in Bobby’s Room 2005. He was playing both tables simultaneously. 2000/4000 mix and 4000/8000 mix with Doyle and Ivey at the table.
Key to poker is keep your winnings(entry and other cost for the game minus the winnings is the true total) separate from your life expenses and income. I don't do any sports betting or any tournaments over 1500 entry and cash games of less than 300 input. I have done good enough to have afford the games based on the winnings. Its a part time deal that is self sustaining plus more. True key is to learn to walk away.
High stakes poker is not only a high variance game but a high variance mindset. These guys made it big because they were willing to risk everything, same reason they lost it all. Even a lot of the long term successful players are gambling addicts.
You could be the greatest player of all time..... you overplay your bankroll.... you are going broke. It's as simple as that and there is no escaping it. You should never have more than 1/20th of your bankroll at risk at any time.
Unfortunately, poker is a game of huge swings and variance. Then most pro poker players are also degenerate gamblers that blow tons of money on other games. And, over the last 20 years, poker has changed. Players are much more educated.
He would be if he paid his debts. If he owed me hundreds of thousands there wouldn’t be a single game he could buy 8th, because MY MONEY COMES FIRST! What a gall to play big money games whilst owing out millions.
Anyone who does not save/invest for the long term SOME of their winnings, will probably lose out to “the need for speed” ….not just happiness from playing profitably. Need a good attorney-finance mgr to invest so you can’t easily BET it.
Are you a fellow tribe member? One of the most disgusting people ever to play the game ( crybaby, grass, kike etc, etc ). Doing fine = hasn’t got a pot to piss in.
If you count cards, count chips, play mostly mathematically you will win. Luck is for 90% of the players whom don't have these skills. In 2000 I started playing online poker and made a living for 8 years. My bankroll skyrocketed because I was not addicted to drugs or gambling. A good player knows how much they are winning and calculates a few losses or a bad month. Your spending habits have to be as smart as your card playing. My health went downhill and needed more exercise and the website was shutdown due to hackers so I bought a business with all the money I won and I'm doing just fine.
I strive to just be at home and to go nowhere. The best you can ask for is just an ordinary uneventful day. The world has nothing to offer someone who is content.
The fact is these poker stars are not much better than anyone else at poker. They got lucky a few times and rode the wave. Eventually they all go bust.

The ultimate curse of poker is that most players do not realize they are their own worst opponent.
I read Gus' book where he went over a lot of hands in a tournament he won and BOY was he lucky in that tournament that nobody ever had anything to contest his ridiculous bluffs
To go deep in a tournament you have to be lucky Often its a coin flip or a 66/33 in your advantage
So is poker luck or skill? That’s the question
@@Ishbikes 80% of hands are determined without a showdown, i think that's where the skill comes in

Gold went broke because he is awful at the game
I would suck for 12 million 😎
Jammie gold is the worst poker player I’ve ever seen on tv…
The common theme is essentially losing it outside of poker. Poker money should stay in the game and not exit. That is my rule of thumb
Great rule
But when youre a Pro that didnt go logical

strange how all these players could not understand that online poker is rigged

I mean, it was early on…. It only took me a few hands to realize it was righed
@@Ishbikesit’s still is today mate. Well documented
Jaimie Gold reeked of being a pile of trash. That one is no shock.

Jamie gold isn't broke he just doesn't play a lot of Poker anymore cuz he's ass at it
It doesn't say he's broke it says he's no longer successful in poker and no longer a multimillionaire like he once was.

Scotty Nguyen has always had an addiction problem.
How is Jaime Gold broke while simultaneously doing nothing for work and attending talk shows and charity events? Does he not have bills to pay?
Reckless spending watch the video
It doesn't say he's broke it says he's no longer successful in poker and no longer a multimillionaire like he once was.
Easy come, easy go.

I sat next to him at a 1-2 ring game in Sacramento. He broke
At the end of day it's game of luck - you won't be lucky all the time
No matter how good of mathematician are you - if you can't back it up
words of a lifetime loser
You dont need to be lucky all the time though Just have better odds then the opposition and the house edge ofc
