I never thought in a million years I would have dealt with this grief for the rest of my life. I can’t apologize to myself enough to forgive myself for such sacrifice. Ignoring red flags and giving benefit of doubt had costed me everything- while you gain everything. I would never be the same.
Every since I seen Josh Daniel sing this on American Idol and sang it about his late friend... it's made the song have a complete different meaning. Since losing my dad, I can relate on the feeling of being jealous that they're happier where they are. It's the price of loving someone is when you lose them, you're left with this overwhelming pain called grief. It's been 3.5 years and I still cry weekly. Cherish your loved ones because time isn't guaranteed and at times it can seem very selfish and take those you care about most when you least expect it.
The lines I relate to most:

I lost my bestfriend way back in 2014, I really miss him. This song came into my recommendations and is really painful to hear. We had a misunderstanding the day before he died and never had the chance to resolve any of the conflict. My heart aches for every word sang in this song. I thought I have moved on, but it still hurts after all this time. It still hurts because I'm reminded every day of the fact that I would not be able to see him again.
