Wexler played a Kahler equipped 1984 Jackson Randy Rhoads Student (rosewood/no binding/dot inlays) on both Icon and Night Of The Crime. He replaced the stock Duncan Distortion with a JB.
Cool guitar, I have some great memories and stories from back in the day. Dan is a great guy, i remember hanging with him and Rich Beck at Becks Guitars, hanging out with the band at A LOT of shows. Even took a few rides with Dan in his Porsche. Still have a video tape of ICON at The Country Club in LA. Many more stories that can not be told ...... Great band and Great guys
Love that first ICON record! The guitar tone on it was MASSIVE!😱🤘 I found out about them from a old radio show called "Metal shop" back in the 80's they played the song "World war III " and i ran out and bought the record the very next day! That whole record is great! every tune kills!
Hello Dane. I bought their first album the same year it came out in the early 80’s, after my friend played it on his turntable. Turned up, it sounds thunderous. Especially, Under My Gun, with the thunder drums. Then I heard the second album and liked that one as well. It almost sounds like Dan and John were using a Rockman System. I still own my Rockman X100, since the early 80’s. That’s one crazy guitar hack job. 🤘🏼🎸👍
@@cookiebombsta2607 In 1984 Trunk was a fat pimple faced teenager living in moms basement in New Jersey... hardly an Artist & Relations rep at Capitol 🤣
Keep a eye on criagslist for that Bobcat. You would not believe the deals you can get/find on CL! I bought a mint Ibanez RG 570 from 1989 for $200 with case! Also got a found a Ibanez S series guitar for $80!😱 Some people just do not want the gear and practically give it away!
Mold it and fill the holes with epoxy…. I’m not a fan of the holes and cuts, I used a blowtorch on an old Japanese Strat copy that I stripped down, and it came out pretty cool, so I definitely get what he was going for…..😉👍
@@kmoecub Not quite. I’m pretty sure the average boner on the street has never heard of Dan Wexler. Eddie Van Halen’s name (and guitars) have a bit more recognition. 🤡👍
@@kmoecub Not quite, ask anyone on the street if they know who Dan Wexler is? Then ask if they’ve heard of a guy named Eddie Van Halen? I’d love to hear the results! 🤡👍

Dude. Upload the live Icon footage.

I just spun "Night of the Crime" on vinyl last night! Such an under-rated band!

A guitar like a Colin Chapman Lotus; added lightness.
Look like Dan's dad had a drill press and band saw in his garage.
Plus an 8ball and 3 cases of cheap beer.
Jackass “modification”.
Another idiot that thinks he’s being artsy.
It's more than an icon... it's a Holy Ikon🤘
Woohw, this Video makes me smile the whole time !! Makes me think at my time in the 80is and all my crasy Guitars 🎸🎸💥🎸🎸🥴
Love Night of the Crime!
What a great band and Dan is a fantastic guitar player. I have all their albums.
Mike Varney got Icon the deal with Capitol Records in 1984 not Eddie Trunk. Trunk has always been full of 💩
He’s right.
It was Varney.
Eddie “Lil Cheeseburger” Trunk….
Best friends w/ every rockstar who ever lived. He practically saved their lives.

Heck Eddie saved rock and roll. 🤪
Trunk signed them in the late 80's to Megaforce for the Right Between the Eyes album. Not anything like the first two albums IMO.
Good lord...
He's probably going to hack up that poor Gibson LP, too..
😢😮
Icon ,, Great band .. Dan is one of my favorite guitarist's.. Very cool Thx ..
Rock on!
Excellent video, thanks, big Wexler fan.
Swiss Picks are the best!!
I might have to give this a try to one of my heavier guitars. I love a fairly light guitar, around 7 pounds.
wexler got a great deal..😂
Some interesting rigs lately
You should build a form and fill it with blue epoxy.
That's definitely not the same neck. The neck on the video is rosewood.
Never heard of them before, but went to see the video you mentioned.
Love the way you can dismiss stuff by saying " it was the 80s"
I lived in Phoenix in '88. I remember them! I actually met him at The Mason Jar one night. Very cool dude .
That's awesome! Although, I kind of think Dan got the better deal. 😜
THEY ARE BACK¡¡¡¡I kramer guitars are so beautifull
bro take that les paul back for that turd 💩
He hacked it up so it would have some personality he says. 🤪
That was cool!
Dan shopped at my local Bashas and has been for a long time. Cool and nick guy
you traded a gibson les paul for the drilled out wreck lol. jesus dude
What a waste
I definitely have to check out the band. I honestly never heard of them.
Anyone know what amps they used for their first record? I read somewhere they used Music man amps?
I think you are right...Music Man
@@ZIMMSGUITARS Thanks dane! 🤘 They made those amps sound MASSIVE!😱
I opened for them after the album came out. They both used the music man amps with a delay between them to fatten up the sound,
@@jimSTRATemblin Massive sound on that record! to this day i love it!
They look sort of glam.... Sort of?!?!?! You're funny. 🤗😘😉😂
Wouldn't happen to have a 1966 Harmony bobcat would you
Sorry no

I have I believe it's a 62? Harmony Rocket!!!!
Love Icon!
Can you do a video on these Swiss pics and the science behind them I'm very curious
Glam metal legends. Awesome.
Is this for sale or up for auction?
Dan Wexler sounds like the Late Evil David Letterman.
Even being hacked up, that's a cool guitar!
🤟😁👍Impressive weight reduction..
Sure is!
●●GOSHH DAMNIT !!!... I WANNA SEE LIVE SHOWS OF "ICON" BACK IN 1984-1985...I'M PISSED OFF !!!...(Please Forgive Me).🤙☆🤙
Who the hell destroyed that guitar

You may as well be talking about returning Eddie's original Frakenstrat to stock condition. Why erase the history of any guitar by "repairing" it?
