I think if more people worked together in this way it would be awesome. Everyone strives to do everything alone to be the next big thing and not depend on other people.
Well, gentlemen, this is a dream team of the best rock sound of a whole planet. Howard Benson - best rock producer, Mike Plotnikoff - best guitar, bass and drum sound, Chris Alge - best rock mixing engineer. There must be a 4th member of a crew - Ted Jensen - best rock mastering engineer. Cheers!
Thanks for the great video guys! This was super informative and helpful for me and now I understand why my best - simply isn't as good as what you guys can do. This video explained this gap and I appreciate it so I can stop being so hard on myself.
I totally agree that getting a mix fast usually turns out better. Once you grow roots into a song, you tend to lose focus and perspective on the project.
When the Gods speak, mere mortals should listen. I'm a mere mortal and to me, this is amazing! I hop[e there are many more videos with these guys sharing their secrets!
Almost a half hour of inflating CLA’s ego even larger than it has been lol. But you can’t deny it. The results speak for themselves. That AAR Move Along record really is the classic CLA record.

CLA looks like he should be in the Sopranos 😂 These guys are literally legends.

Don't forget the gods, Brendan O' Brien, Terry Date and Andy Wallace.
Jerry Finn could be there too RIP.
I said that to my buddies before I saw this comment lol where’s Ted at?
Mike Plotnikoff! I had the pleasure of working with him in the 90s. Very nice guy.
One of the the most amazing and interesting videos I've seen. God Bless.
"Double parking”...that’s an awesome concept I’m going to have to keep in mind on future projects. Awesome helpful info in this interview.
Yeah.
"[Mike's] click track is punchier than most people's kick drums, OK?" Gotta love CLA.
So much wisdom and respect in one room. Looking forward to trying this out :)

Thanks for this STL
Okay this is next level

A lot of great info in this, but seeing that CLA has a framed picture of himself in his studio at 23:30 was... interesting.

Coffee is for the closers. NYC / NJ record making history in the house!
BRASS BALLS.
Nice! I use tonehub and love it. Major crunch with the OD pedals engaged. Amazing sounds #brutal

The people at Furman Sound would do well to include a well chosen still photo of this interview for advertising purposes.
A religious watch for me. Thank you.
That's definitely Phil X playing the guitars in this video.
Why do people think that, a vst programmed with a mouse with velocity set to 100, needs compression?
Alan Meyerson is that you?
Jedi mind tricks
Basically,,, "hey it sounds really good" lol...
its so mind blowing what these guys are responsible for. Take these guys out of the mix and its like "my favorite band fell off!"
man, I like a lot of Howard Benson-produced albums but he uses too much autotune on vocals. Folks sound like robots not humans sometimes :(
I 'effin HATE auto tune!
