I’ve seen them many times since 2007ish and the show of theirs I saw a few months ago was the best. They sounded better than they ever have. Matt is traditionally spotty live vocally but was really on that night. He was making jokes, smiling, moving around a lot more and just generally having fun. I really think his time in Blink made him a much better overall performer.

Atom was obviously the easy choice considering he was already friends with the guys, but I don't think anyone though that even Atom would fit in so well.

This song is so well written. I love how the “I really wanna talk to you part” is so catchy and repeats all the time, but isn’t even the main chorus. It constantly comes up all throughout the song and is so good every time.

This record has the best drum mix out of any trio album. Don’t get me wrong. Derek is possibly the best drummer in the punk scene, nobody can do what Derek does. But I am grieved at some of the mixing in the past album, especially with the drums. the drums on these past two singles are just so punchy and yummy. I love it.

I spent a bit of my night pondering the line “I’m being stalked by Latin royalty, and me and Bobby just ate shrooms” I asked my friend what could be considered to be “Latin royalty” and what drugs has to do with it. She said “er… maybe the Latin Kings?” So I looked into it more. Latin Kings founded in Chicago in 1954. Bingo. I looked into this more. Bobby is what Robert Avitabile goes by. He just plead guilty in 2022 for his crimes with the Latin Kings. Amazing subtle reference to current events. Alkaline Trio has always made me tilt my head and makes me think for hours, and I often learn new things from them. I love these guys so so much.
