"Odeon" Ernesto Nazareth - Paul Barton, piano

  • ⬇READ MORE BELOW⬇ In this recording I used the resonance position of the 4th harmonic pedal invented by Denis de La Rochefordière.
    This recording was made for my friend Julio Saraiva.
    With apologies, direct links to free public domain sheet music at the IMSLP Music Library don't always work, (possibly due to the new invitation to donate page arrangement) but here is the Odeon sheet music link anyway: imslp.org/wiki/...)
    If this link doesn't work for you, Google: "Odéon Nazareth, Ernesto IMSLP" that will give you a workable link.

    Ernesto is, and probably will always be, my favorite classical composer. The dynamics in his songs are great. I found him through Civ 6, since the Brazilians have the best theme in that game.
    0:50 my favorite part. Once again a perfect example of perfect dynamics.

    Todas as musicas desse compositor tem um balanço, um gingado gostoso. Alem dessa , tbm adoro, "Apanhei-cavaquinho" ; "Brejeiro" e tbm as valsas desse compositor são lindas! Nós brasileiros nos sentimos orgulhosos de ter um compositor desse naipe! Pena que ninguém aqui no Brasil divulga essas belezas de músicas brasileiras.Essas gerações mais novas nada conhecem desse compositor. Só divulgam mediocridades essas nossas mídias.

    Brilliantly playerd. But i heard a documentay about Francisco Mignone, in which he stated that he played to Nazareth in 1917 and the composer told him that everyone used to play his pieces way too fast. Then, according to Mignone, he started to play, and his way of playing was slow,, making every note "sing".

    • @Kuplung57
      @Kuplung57 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      El Zuero would make sens to me, because this tempo hardly satisfies a sensual tango dance.

    • @verybarebones
      @verybarebones 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would have to agree. At the tempo in this recording, it doesn't transmit the usual feeling of a tango even if the technique is otherwise fantastic.

    • @JonatasMonte
      @JonatasMonte 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes but this is the tempo used now (just like it used to). This is the rhythm anyone who has ever heard it have in their mind.
      There's a video on the internet that also talks about how we might be playing out of tempo the pieces of Mozart, etc. The pieces he play sound far different from what we're used to listening.

    • @fernandogiongo
      @fernandogiongo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@verybarebones But it's _not_ a tango, it's a Brazilian Tango, which is vastly different. Brazilian tango doesn't sound _tangoish_ , it's far closer to samba and other urban genres from Rio than it is to tango from Argentina.

      Ricardo Rezende This is a Brazilian Tango, also known as Maxixe. It was created at the same time as the Choro, but they are not the same. People confuse them a lot. (Both are fine exemples of Brazilian music, tho)

    Love a good tango on piano. Tango is traditionally played on accordian.

      Lois Walsh This is not a tango, this is a Chôro. They used to call it "tango" because there used to be a heavy prejudice against choro in the 19th century
