I never understood that Brian Wilson was the leader and genius behind their music. But thanks to You Tube I have seen Brian in action producing their music in the studios and now I listen to the beach Boys with a whole new lever of appreciation . Thank You Brian, Long may you live!
@john loughlin - The Beach Boys is a group. . Brian is the largest piece but all contributed in their own way making the sum greater than the individual parts. The harmonizing, lyrics and studio work are what made the group AWESOME. Brian did not do all that himself. His work in the studio is what , in my opinion, make him the genius that he is.
Scott Bennett, don't be too hard on yourselves. I'm a bit fed up of watching groups "live" on TH-cam and they're miming to their own music so to me and I'm sure many others, it's a real treat to hear something like this that is truly live, even if it isn't as polished as the studio version. To those critics that gave this video the thumbs down, try to be a bit kind and if you could do better, I'd sure like to hear it.
I agree Linda! I was there too and went to every one of The CW Walks Against Cancer. I first became friends of, "The Boys" back in 1976. I was closest with Carl and Dennis. CHEERS!
The singing wasn't great yea I get it but man what an honor to be able to see him strap on the bass once again. I grew up in the 90's so I'm a late fan lol
Brian could heave onto the strings of a grand piano and the sound would still be magical. The few in the band were off. So what. It happens with the best of um. Jimmy Page, the kinks, and more. And Brian on bass too. Brian is our treasure.
+Scott Bennett I was reluctant to post this video because, like Scott says, this is not at all indicative of their usual impeccable vocal performances. I just thought Brian seemed particularly relaxed and sounding great, and thought it was cool and rare that he was playing bass again. I have the highest regard for Scott and the rest of Brian's band, having seen them perform countless times over the past 16 years and being blown away by the amount of talent in the band - most of them not only incredible vocalists, but also multi-instrumentalists like Scott.
That was you playing the drums? I don't think it sounds bad at all. The song, the band and Brian are very near and dear to my heart. I visited the memorial a while back since its on the way home from work. There are too many personal emotions and memories attached to the song for me to be worried about little things like possibly being out of tune lol
Man, listen to that smooth, liquid harmonizing--outdoors, hasty setup, limited monitors, and you still sound better than any band I played in or sat though from the 70s through the 90s, and that's a whole truckload full of outdoor field parties, baby!
Mike Love wrote most of the lyrics. Brian's genius was the melody and how he brought it all together in the recording studio. Fairly early on, Brian quit touring with the band and concentrated on studio work with the "Wrecking Crew."
@@scootergeorge9576 Thanks, I remember something like that and I always loved the Beach Boys and to me wether it is Brian Love or Brian Wilson who wrote the songs they were a great Band together and thanks for educating me.

If you squint your eyes Brian’s mouth and movements are the same as that original performance. Especially his mouthswhen he sings out the side! So cute! Love him❤️❤️
That is amazing. The first few bars - it's almost as if he hadn't played the bass since the early 80s and had forgotten everything. Brian is so cute, then and now. Beach Boys would not have been the big hit they are, without him. He is so talented and quite funny, too. His wife and family are very lucky to have him in their lives.
I get it’s a charity event but boy it just goes to show you how good The Beach Boys are in harmony. These guys need to stick to being an accountant or car salesman. Tuff to listen to.
Rather shaky vocals? Worst than that. The Beach Boys trademark is the fantastic harmonizing. This falls flat. Still, it's great to see Brian right up front where he belongs. A living legend.
Yep, there was definitely a couple of people out of tune that it was almost deafening. If it wasn't because of the nostalgia of Brian, I think people would have booed and/or thrown tomatoes. Not everyone now but it only takes one or two to bringing it down. Nice try though and thanks for the memories.
This is not Brian Wilson's fault.. he did great but he was drown out by the other off key singing.. just goes to show you one person can make a whole band sound terrible.
