I actually did it after 10 years of working as a RDH in Toronto, finally I am here a Dentist and absolutely love it. I totally get you when you mentioned physics and chemistry!!! those two courses were major obstacles which technically kept me away for a while for applying to dental schools but finally I came over my fear and I did it. And yes you must have PASSION for being a dentist and practice dentistry, Do Not Do it if you are after money and title please do not!! because it can suck the life out of you if you do not like what you are doing on daily bases.

I want to become a Dentist but still want a job after I get my bachelor's degree. I want to graduate with my bachelor's degree from the Dental Hygiene Program, find a job and apply to Dental School right after graduating with my bachelor's degree. But my advisor said it was not a good idea as I would need more credits hours ( 44 credits ) than that to fullfil the requirements for Dental School. What should I do now 😭😭?
I'm pretty sure dental schools (at least, in the U.S.) require applicants to have a bachelors (in any field--better if competitive; even physics is accepted) so you'd prolly need to finish gen. ed. then major in dental hygiene for a bachelors or get an associates for dental hygiene and enter a bridge program to head to bachelors both ways would take 4 years rather than 3 (unless you've already racked up college credit)

So I just turned 41....Im strongly considering becoming a RDH or RN.... I grew a passion for dental based off of systemic diseases and how they correlate with gum disease.. What do you think of DH vrs RN? Why did you choose dentistry and not RN and MD? Any pro's and con's that you can think of ?
i fracking hated dentistry my first 5 years out of school, mostly my bad attitude . Now i’m good with it. First ten years i was carefree associate then i bought a practice, Ive learned a lot but i would never do that again. other than that i’m good for dentistry . Yeah for sure you can make way more money doing something else like straight up business or being an instagram model or some 💩like that.

haha it's just not as broad as dentistry to advance as fast :( but it's def still a good profession!! Always a need for hygienists!!

This is not true, actually dental schools would give preference to students with bachelor in dental hygiene to apply to for Dentistry
