- The 1992 Close AM Lincoln penny is one of the more interresting and valuable coins in the modern era for the US Mint. It is of course a Variety of the regular 1992 Wide AM penny coin that you can look for in pocket change and is potentially worth a lot of money. In this presentation I look at how to identify these valuable wide and close am penny coins and what they may be worth.

Found a 1998 and a 1998D Close in about 67+ condition. Yahoo. Off to PCGS. Appreciate your educational material.

Nice video. Does anyone else find it a little odd that there would be 3 major error/variety coins issued exactly 10 years apart between each. First the 1972 double die, then the 1982 transitional error, and finally the 1992 Close Am cent?
Well to be fair there were other varieties spaced inbetween those as well.

I’ve just located a 1992 no mint mark close AM, AFTER SEEING YOUT VIDEO it felt like I hit the lotto, Monday I will be shipping off to a grader: my only issue is, which one will be best for this peculiar coin I have, ? I did hear some graders the world does not recognize them, and some do, I just wanna go with a grade coin place that will be recognized by all auctions or on eBay, any advice guys will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Sorry bout that ! As I were sayn I have a couple of 1992 pennies that are very difficult for me to recognize whether are not they are a close AM ! WHY because the A and M looks like they are touch due to some sort of doubling ! From examination and I'm no expert both coins appears to have doubling on the front and back ! Is this 1992 penny know to be DDO and DDR ? The ones I look at every week to make sure this is what I'm seeing appears to be DDO and DDR ! I can use some help here !

Hmm, interresting. There is a chance that what you are describing might be strike doubling, better known as machine doubling . There are no known ddo or ddr varieties noted for the 1192 penny either.

I'm not a new collector I'm just getting into actually looking at the coins I've collected and I have a bunch of pennies from the years they are looking for the wide and the close AMs I separated them but a lot of them are Tarnished and dirty
I’m pretty sure I have the close AM (Philadelphia) I used a microscope, even the FG fits the match. I just don’t know what to do now. It’s shines, but has some light mark, scratches, few. I just don’t know how to go about selling it. Any suggestions would be really help, ty!

the red book says that 1998 and 1999 had some close am produced on proof sets, but shows 2000 as being produced as a close AM, and shows a hiher value for a wide AM 2000. Where did you get the information about the years?

Quick question how many 1958 DDO varieties are there?
Really only the one. There is also one known variety for Denver in the same date but that one is very subtle. And a few DDR varieties are also known for 1958. Of course the main, FS101 VAriety, is extremely valuable. Hope that answers your question.

Hey Jag. First you need to be positive about it being genuine. If it is you should contact top notch coin auction company like Heritage or Stack's Bowers. Avoid Ebay to get the real money for a top quality coin. Good like fellow coin fanatic. It's a fun hobby.
