Shaft is crap, replaced mine with a carbon fiber shaft from Steve’s detector rods and a housing for the pod from RC Digs. It was worth it because I detect the ocean 90 percent of the time. Nice vid.
That flex is crazy in the water, I was actually waiting for it to pop out. I just picked up a Deus 2 so definitely something to think about and remedy. Thanks for filming it as I have not seen that on any other video. BTW, great hunt even though the phone was the score.

That Penny range has also been falling into the triangular fishing pyramid weights and I have found one silver St Christopher pendant that fell into that same range at depth 👍🦀
Hey D! Lots of people hunting so it’s a tougher go these days. I’ll get back out to Pinellas beaches in a month or 2 as the ankle surgery is healing. That DeUs II overall for me and beaches needs upgrading to compare to the Equinox 800. Especially the price difference. For what I do and the time I can go the 800 is hard to beat. We’re going to Fredericksburg Virginia in July to see our son and family. The middle granddaughter Emily 19, goes with me as we hunt Civil War areas. Thanks Good luck buddy Shaun in Wimauma Florida
Do you still have the Deus? How do or did you like it in the water? I've used the Excalibur for 16 years and still love it. The Deus is great on land but i haven't used it much in the water. I got an awful signal in the water yesterday with the Deus, it was a shallow dime. It sounded like iron. I detected for another 45 minutes, no signals at all! 😢 Went back to the vehicle and got the Excalibur and within 1 minute got a ring and then several more coins. I just don't know if other people are having the same issue with water detecting with the Deus. Most are land hunters or wet / dry sand hunters, not water hunters. What do you think?
It was nice talking with you the other day and i found a couple rings the next day to (junk one's). If you don't mind could i get the settings your using most of the time. on the beach. I have been using the Beach Sens one, but it chirps all the time even when i ground balance and change the slat sens.
Just practice going into the menu and changing functions. I will do a video just for settings here soon. I set my user function on beachSEN . I will show in next couple videos 🙏😎
@@PescatoreFocoso well for folks like us who are over 6 foot tall we need a solid shaft for the waters. We don’t want to shorten the shaft and detect hunched over like a little old woman.

I own a D2 and I plan to hunt the beaches in NW Florida in October. I'm too old to dive any longer but I have a couple of ??: Do I need to use that coil attachment that you have wrapped around the shaft and what program and settings do you use for hunts in the shallow surf? Thanks.

A friend got a spare Makro Simplex lower rod, fit inside the shaft fine, the lower part had to be filed down a little. He also mentioned some kind of accessory washer to make it work. Hope this helps
Been hearing this wonder how that works if it turns out to be a good deal pretty sad that you got to do that though but that shaft does flex terribly I've been using it for quite a few months now it's driving me nuts also 👍🦀
I love Deus for land, but feel in hindsight they should have realized that great setup for land isn’t practical for the surf or diving. I honestly hope Deus or even an aftermarket straight shaft setup that’s solid, or really sturdy to plow through the surf, and a shorty rod for diving. My same friend already had his coil cable snap too. The ocean is rough on equipment
Maybe that flex was designed to keep you from smashing the coil. The biggest problem is the length of the lower rod, it’s too short! Derick might have only a inch in the upper rod. Get a tube of automotive GOOP and fill in that concave coil cover so it will slide over sand instead of it digging in! Yes the lower simplex rod fits shaft.
Gold will hit almost every number higher than iron. Throw down a ten dollar gold coin. That will hit like a zinc penny. Try a 1 ounce gold coin or bullion. Rings like quarter or half dollar.
By the way to that last comment a while back ago about TH-cam cutting you off on your and when you're not watching the whole thing they are also doing it if you just pause the video and then finish watching it they're doing that to you 🙄

I would think with that much flex your signal would be off until you reduced the speed of the swing. Good video.

As tall as you are you may want to buy the longer upper shaft and find a replacement for the lower. That bottom shaft definitely flexes way to much.
Already have the longer upper. Time for the simplex lower. Or Anderson? Maybe Someone else?.
for 1600 dollars the amount of sway in that lower shaft is ridiculous that should have been a much stronger shaft

I’ve since gotten a longer upper and custom lower.
