I hadn't heard Kendrick in a little while, but this beef really brought me back around for a trip to his amazing discography. Many memories, vibes from an ever more distant youth. One of a kind artist, thanks Kdot.
Poe Man's Dreams is so underrated. "I know some rappers using big words to make they similies curve, my simplest shit be more pivotal. I penetrate the hearts of good kids and criminals, worrisome individuals that live life critical. So why don't you bear witness while I bare feet, so you can walk in my shoes and get to know me." I listen to this album front to back at least twice a year since its release! My favourite work from Kendrick Lamar and one of the all time greatest projects in music history. Still here in 2020
i think the reason could be, that kendrick doesnt release a album in 2013 and macklermore is a great rapartist too, even if i like kendrick more ,they are both great

In my opinion lyrically this is the best album, GKMC is the best for story telling and TPAB has the best production and substance :D LOVE LIVE KING KENDRICK
+Corey James I kinda agree, but TPAB, HAS A LOT of levels of symbols, double, triple entendre's, its a very very immense project, that takes a bunch of listens. The whole thing is a damn poem, and the name of the album is like a quadruple entendre.
Good Kid m.A.A.d City Was About A Entire Day In The LIfe Of Kendrick Lamar If You Really Listen To Kendrick You Would Know He Didnt Want It To be About Lyrics, He Wanted It To be About The Story He Wanted To Tell
There's just SOMETHING about Kendrick. Bit of background.. I LOVE my music. I'm an absolute TOOL nerd. Favourite band ever.. Love my metal, rock, classic rock, certain EDM etc. Grew up in the era of Eminem. Since I was an Australian white kid, I resonated and liked his shit. Through him I was exposed to Dre, Snoop, Xzibit, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, etc. Kendrick is the only hip hop artist that touches my soul. Truely gets down in there and moves me. He's the GOAT in my mind.
Use to listen to this in college as well. This came out in September 2011 and the fall of 2011 was a period in my life that I will always remember. It was filled with grief, love, achievement and fun. Experiences that helped me grown into a human being. This album hits home for me because I bumped this that entire semester while in school. hope finals went great for you.
After listening to this and Overly Dedicated, I was sold. Everything since then has been a bonus. Section 80 and OD are true CLASSICS without ever hearing the music that came after. seriously. and there just really wasnt anything like this in 2011
Hands down Kendrick's best project imo. Man I re-listened to that tape in LA this year, and man it was amazing. I'm almost out of school, only few months left and I remember exactly when I stumbled over this a few years ago. This got me trough middle school. Hard but also great times. The vibe of this project is almost unmatched. This was before the fame, before the money...Kendrick dropped a few classics here and there (Good kid, TPAB) and a good album with DAMN. but I dunno, this mixtape will remain as my favourite K Dot project. Would love to talk with Kenny about this project. Got too many questions about it lol.

+Kyle Kaulfers Good kid beats it then butterfly beats both but hey I never listened to this back when it came out not until he got his recognition for Good kid so I don't have any connections still an amazing album.
+thatguyoverthere06 yes it is. some people dont know the history of hip hop, you should listen to some of the early 90's music, with samples of jazz, r & b soul. Da La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, Goodie mob, and some others I cant think of right now... o yeah and west coast rap, G-Funk, etc. Some guys need to study up on hip hop to understand its range. Hip hop has always been soul and jazz infused, either that or boom bap, at one point. now things are different, so if anything, while it was an artful project, it was actually a throwback, bringing back jazz/funk/and soul to hip hop.
Ra S what can i say - there are a few songs on it that are good - most of the tracks are barely songs though man as is its more like just spoken word poetry and the songs that are good are just super commercial eg. king kunta. i agree its artfull i disagree that he captures any kind of early 90's hip hop vibe tbh.

This album has aged incredible well. Freaking love Kendrick lamarrrrrrrrr
First time listening to a full rap album while studying; doing my final semester at University, this album just spoke to me.

In what ways?

This is true music right here. Can't believe they gave Macklemore that Grammy
i think the reason could be, that kendrick doesnt release a album in 2013 and macklermore is a great rapartist too, even if i like kendrick more ,they are both great
The energy in Kendrick's early work is off the fn chain....I love this, its fuel for the revolution!!!

+Kendrick The Creator butterfly isnt even really a hiphop album lol
+Kendrick The Creator butterfly don't beat section 80, maybe GK but not section
