I’m approaching retirement. Currently 64. 5 years ago I took 5 meds for BP, Gout and CVD. I converted to a Ketogenic diet and am down 75 lbs to normal BMI and only take one med now. The answer is to get off of these meds.

@@guermeisterdoodlebug7980 Well don't worry. By the time you turn 65+, there won't be any medicare. Y'all can possibly get in line to make Soylent Green. Won't need healthcare. Canada is already encouraging disabled and others to check into euthanasia. You know, so they won't keep putting young people through problems.

it isn't "the system" that is doing this it is mainly the insurance companies. even when we were still working the insurance choices through work were just as crazy. no system was involved. if it wasn't for "the system" we wouldn't even have any drug plans period. definitely needs work but thank some congress people and senators for fighting for us lowly people.

We are now going to be paying for those who have high medication costs starting in 2025. The drug plans are significantly increasing the monthly premium payment! Ours went from $5.30 to $43.00! My husband is not on any meds, and my meds are minimal costs! I can't believe it!

To lower the drug cost for diabetic drugs the drug companies are raising the cost of the part D drug plans (ours is going from $78.90 per month to $102.30 almost a 30% increase) would have helped all seniors if the government had also capped the percentage of increase the drug companies could charge per year .

During this open enrollment period, can you do a video regarding difference between "basic" and "enhanced" Part D plans? It is my understanding (from another Medicare You Tuber) that "enhanced" plans will have less TROOP (true out-of-pocket) costs because the TROOP is based on the "standard benefit cost calculation" and with an "enhanced" Part D plan you will have lower ACTUAL out of pocket copays/coinsurance/and 0 deductibles and reach the $2000 cap without actually having incurred the full $2000 cap since it is based on "standard benefit cost". Confusing, isn't it? Need you to explain all the differences between the two different types of Part D plans.

They say they are saving Medicare recipient money by closing this donut hole. And of course, the insurance companies have to get there money from someone else which is us, their customers. My advantage plan is going up $11 a month but my benefits have been slashed. Higher deductibles for specialists, dental coverage cut, OTC cash gone. One of my wife's prescriptions is being moved from a tier 2 back to a tier 4 due to a manufacturers price increase, it was costing $770 a year, now it will cost almost $2000. According to the insurance agent my wife and I use, the changes are going to save only about 5% of the Medicare recipients money. The other 95% will pay more fore less.
