  • This coming school year is going to be an exciting one because we are switching to Simply Charlotte Mason! I'm super excited about it and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you. I'm sharing the history, Bible, and geography pieces today so you will get a good look at this part of the Simply Charlotte Mason curriculum. 2 of my 4 children will be students and they will be 6 and 4. Let me know if you're a fellow SCM family, if you're just researching, or let me know what you're using for these subjects next school year! Thanks for watching!

    We love the SCM history curriculum! The commentary books are fantastic!! We love love the Leviticus one and are currently rereading through it in our morning time. I have six kids ages 17 down to 6. I have homeschooled from the very beginning and SCM has been a huge blessing and game changer in our home school. We will be starting Early American/world history cycle in the fall. We also love the reformation study Bible! All four of my teens have one too. ❤️ We are working our way through R.C. Sproul’s foundation series of systemic theology DVDs. All my kids are loving it. We also just finished R.C.’s marriage series on TH-cam. It was a great series for my teens. I love being able to homeschool my kids and bring in and equip them with deep truths as part of our family culture and homeschool curriculum! Blessings to you on your journey! ❤️

      That’s so very encouraging! I’m so glad SCM has worked so well for your family. RC Sproul is one of my all-time FAVORITE theologians! I have a necklace with “coram Deo” on it (before the face of God) because of his influence. I’ve seen many of his series and read many of his books! I’m excited to share them with my kids as they get older. Thanks for telling me about your family. ❤️ I’m truly encouraged.

    Thanks for the video! We also used MFW K and chose not to continue. We used SCM for 1st grade and are in love!! I hope it works well for your family! We did Rome this year and will do Middle Ages next year and I can't wait! Like you, I am so excited for next year! Have you looked at the SCM bible studies for 7-12? My kids are still little too, but I'm very impressed. And they don't teach any specific doctrine but encourage your family to read the bible for themselves to see what it says. Best of luck to you!

      Yay! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed SCM. I haven’t seen their 7-12 Bible studies. I’ll have to look into them once my kids approach that age. Thank you for the well wishes! I hope your family has a wonderful summer and upcoming school year! ❤️

    This was fun to watch because I have chosen this exact history curriculum for my 4 kids, but for the year 2022/23. We are in the middle of US history using Notgrass Our Star Spangled Story, so we will be finishing that next year, then starting back over with Simply Charlotte Mason Genesis/Egypt. I'm just like you and want to start it now! I actually bought the SCM curriculum for modern times and I'm going to follow the reading for myself, while my kids do modern us history next year. My kids are 4,6, 8 and 10.

    I am helping homeschool my granddaughter- 6 ( 1st grade- her parents are blind). We were considering mystery of history but this sounds possibly better to me. I run between 2 homes so I am busy. Have you compared those 2 and if so I would like your input. I can not find any comparison videos.

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! What a blessing you’ll be to your granddaughter! I do like the Mystery of History curriculum, and I plan to implement some of that as a supplement when my kids are older. I think the SCM series is just enough for a first grader, and is a great backbone for our entire education on history. SCM is a 6-year history cycle, so that’s something to consider. I believe Mystery of History is a 4-year cycle. I hope that’s at least a little helpful for you!

      I certainly will! I'm extremely careful about the theology in children's books as a Reformed theology nerd. 🤓

      @@peggystarling do you have all the R.C. Sproul’s children books?! They are beautiful! All my kids love them! I love them and read them often. Haha. I think your family would enjoy them too. They have big simple truths in beautiful books with great story telling.

    How did you end up liking the children’s commentary books? I’m reformed as well and was looking for this specific info ☺️.(I’m a big fan of R.C. Sproul!)

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Although I didn’t consistently use the commentaries, when I did I thought they were great. I didn’t see anything that wasn’t in line with historic Christianity. 😃 Hope that helps! Ligonier should totally write commentaries for kids. I’d buy it! 😄

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overall it went pretty well! A few subjects fell by the wayside- Spanish, music, poetry- but we are finishing strong. I learned a lot as an educator and my children made huge progress. Those are wins! I’ll make a video soon going over our year including what I’d use again and what didn’t work. I do remain a big Simply Charlotte Mason fan!
