- This video is made to give tribute to the people who made impacts on the Igorot-Cordilleran music entertainment that we have today. It just sounds right when we look back and recognize them and patronize our very own in our region.
Local music entertainment in the Cordillera all started back in the mid 1960s when Tagalog (Filipino), Ilocano, and western music were the ones being listened to by people in Baguio city. By the way, Baguio City has long became the melting pot of the Cordillera so as to where opportunities like entertainment business was born. The very first person to record a song in 1962 before the next lists of legends started to record in 1973 was Mr. Pedro Chinalpan. The song that people back then could call OUR OWN IGOROT SONG. This song was originally written by Christopher Ngong-o Oakes of Bontoc, Mt. Province. Can you guess which song it is? You can uncover the song when you watch this video. Enjoy!
*CORRECTION: One of Mr. Elmer Hull's iconic songs is 'Diway' yet the song presented in the video is not the piece, instead you will hear another of his original song 'San Labi Kabuwanan' or a title of some sort.

When I was in elementary I remember the song of PETER TANAN lumawig and kabanbantayan. Yan po yung music nmin sa cultural dance before. Amazing.
I am a metal and slow rock gal and half of this country singers I grew up listening to their songs I guess it's the igorot in me,thank you for acknowledging their talents and contributions to the igorot country songs and most of all thanks for the memories .

Romy Angel was the songwriter for "Igorota" and "Gasat." He's done seven albums already, did duets with Amy Guesdan back in the day, had the same producer as Joel Tingbaoen, and was known as having an Elvis Presley voice when he was singing in the folkhouses along old Harrison Rd.

Great Cordillera country singers. There's this song that I listened to when I was a kid which I tried to search on TH-cam but can't find it. It has a lyric like "kimat di matam" or something like that.
