Nobody has forgotten. This was an election promise in 2014 not to build East west and the money was spent by the liberals just before an election. They lost after one term in office. There was over $1 billion of federal funding given to Victoria by the Tony Abbott while the Vic liberals in government, on the eve of an election, not Victorian labor who had nothing to do with this project. The project itself cost Victoria nothing to cancel in compensation beyond the money given to the EWL consortium by the Vic liberals in government. This money was not from Victoria. We lost nothing. Additional funding for the second stage of East west was kept by the Victorian government and redirected toward their Melbourne metro tunnel project. Whatever cost is associated with the Games, labor has to wear because they unlike with EWL, they did enter into the contract. They take responsibility. Only the Victorian Liberals are responsible for the East west link mess that they left behind in 2014. Not fair to blame Vic labor for EWL
