- Bryan, Vinny & Craig talk about the main event of Fall Brawl 1996, featuring Fake Sting! Plus, on Nitro it is the debut of the "block of movin' ice" Glacier!
Before anyone asks, I don't think they ever reviewed the 97 War Games.
The stories they got out of this war games.
Sting turning his back on the company after being wronged which would lead him turning into the Crow Sting. Lex Luger's redemption story from this very show to when he wins the world title in August of 97. The systematic implosion of the Four Horsemen which would lead into the 97 war games. The rise of the NWO as the powerhouse.
And WCW managed to fuck up every, single, one, of those storylines. Just down right sad.
watching this on network in order and i agree wcw was on fire storyline wise, even mean gene had a storyline with nick patrick
@@BlackzSparrow ppl forget just how huge wcw was back then... its wild how quickly it collapsed
@@thatdude-xj4qe I think its because most fans only think about 97 onward with the attitude era. I think wwe at the time took off after the Wrestlemania in 97 with the Bret turn, Austin rise, Rock joining nation of domination, undertaker and mankind fued. To me wwe had the better main events but wcw had the better matches aside from the main event which seemed slow. also 97 is when wwe went to two hour shows and live almost every week to compete with wcw. I think they had too many old wrestlers, like Mr Wonderful, Hulk Hogan, Jim Duggan ( who was face but cheated every match with the tape). The youngest main event star for them was Big show, who was green as anything, doing dropkicks, selling for everybody. NWO slowly killed it, only because you had too many people in that faction and they won nearly all the time, compared to four horseman who seem to lose every time they on, at least 80%, and then they act like they never lost. Also Eric joining them seemed weird, as he looked like he was bought by Dibase, rather than appear as the mastermind behind the nwo
Almost impressive actually

But Sting showed up to Starrcade and he wasn’t tan
"STINGER! THE GYM!"
Fucking classic.
I stop by every month or so just to hear 26:29 Best Bryan moment in history.
It's funny I remember back then I thought this 96 Wargames match was OK but listening to these guys describe the match, it seems like the greatest thing ever. Shows you how starved these guys have been at seeing actual good stuff, when wrestling was great.
Spinning
Front
Back
Leg
Round
Kick
Hilarious.
@Heavy Metal Collector "I can't believe she's a girl!"
“Sensei, which means teacher!” with the southern twang was fucking gold at 25:53
it was in Winston-Salem NC cause I was at Nitro the next night in Asheville.
Masterful photoshopping.
Your right! It's the only way you'd get the Vintner into this stable of Gods!
The best
It's photoshopped?
I was genuinely wondering when these guys were in a stable with Rowan
23:10 : I remember this aired in Canada the following weekend, and after they went to commercial.... They just forgot to air the rest of the match. GOOD JOB CTV! LOL
Lol I remember Dusty had a line where he went "One on one I don't think Hogan can beat Flair" even though he had already done so like 10 times the previous year
best dusty commentary i ever heard was chris benoit vs Taskmaster in the mens toilets and a woman appeared " OMG, THEY IS A WOMAN IN THE MEN TOILET", and Madusa vs Colonel Rob Parker " HE LOCKED UP WITH HER AND BROKE CLEAN"
Time to go to the paywindow babay
*A MASS OF MOVING ICE*
That's how my uncle got arrested and fired from his job as a trucker. He was moving a mass of ice.
MLW pretty much followed Bryan's advice when they did their War Games a few weeks ago.
meekrob NXT does a Great War Games because of when HHH made his debut during the glory days of War Games so he knows how to produce a great story and why he should be running the company
@@Aokoebor I don't want Vince McMahon to die buuuuut WWE would be infinitely better if Triple H was in charge and ran television like NXT.
50:08 "The worst 48 hrs of his life!"
2003: HOLD MY BEER!
From a strict booking perspective, the 1996 War Games and subsequent Nitro was the peak of the nWo. 90% of the money they made off of that angle in 1997 & 1998 came from how well they set everything up to that point.
"Spinning front leg back round kick"
"Bischoff's the king! He can rename all these fucking moves!"
"Bischoff's the king! He can rename all these fucking moves!"
Bryan gets positively giddy when he gets an opportunity to mention that Craig Pittman fought in Vale Tudo Japan
Good review
A+ thumbnail
I remember that Sting promo. Fucking genius work. Best of Sting's career.
It was so good. Sting basically said “I backed up Luger so many times when people told me don’t trust him. Yet when there’s a stunt double of me when he should clearly know I was in Japan and he doubts me? Stick it Luger” it’s so great
25:14 greatness ensues
Glacier is just Galford from Samurai Showdown.
The NWO angle would have been 50% better with just a bit of quality control. Some to say " hey you guys should lose sometimes " or " ummm no savage and giant cant join the nwo "
Giant and Savage were threats to Hogan's spot so he kept them close.
@@justinorel6592 I understand why Hogan did it. I cant understand why giant and esp savage did it. It systematically destroyed them. They were headline acts. And they never were after the nwo turn. Esp the giant
The NWO being domaint in 1997 is what kept wcw rolling along. When the nwo storyline fizzled out in early 1999 that is when wcw started taking a turn for the worse. Fingerpoke of doom could hav been resolved imo if it led to goldberg vs hogan 2 but it never did.
Sting's promo from the aforementioned Nitro has disappeared from TH-cam, which is bad.
I am very excite for the Krazy! High emotion!
26:29 lmao
so did glacier invent the black mass superkick by what i just heard? or at least brought it to mainstream US wrestling?
Nah, just watched it back. It was more of a superkick that he added a stepping twirl to before he threw it.
Mass of Moving Ice Superkick*
4:10 I’ve been waiting for Bryan to say this for ages.
Fall Brawl 96 , was a decent ppv. The ending was really dramatic .
Thank you so much
Me finishing all of the tna reviews then come to here first minute shitting on tna 😂😂
24:48
Nah Lex is pissed now. Superbrawl Saturday?
Vinny Simphi
Is this like 7 years old?
26:35
Spinning back slap attack.
